This makes a lot of sense. But this also means that Louisa herself isn't really strong, she just uses the power of the miracle. Kind of like Thanos with the infinity stones.
@@filipaleksandermoen7125 I guess? The way Bob isn't really strong, he just uses his powers. I mean you didn't think she had also not gotten a gift and just happened to work out a lot and be that strong, did you?
@@macmay3042 You might have misunderstood me. I mean that in Bob's case, his powers comes from the sheer incredible strength of his muscles. That power isn't dependent on some candle that bestowed some of its greatness onto a 5-year old. Louisa by herself isn't special the way Bob is. Because the second her source of power disappears, she is useless (strength wise). If your theory of her power changing intensity based on what she has to carry is true, (and especially if she herself doesn't realize), that makes me question if it is HER power, or if she is just a "tool" for the miracle to use its power to lift and move things. PS: I just want to make absolutely clear that I am in no way disagreeing with you or that Louisa is powerful. I'm just saying that I think Bob's powers are more personal and more "fair".
The questions “who’s more powerful” and “who’s stronger” are VERY different here. Though Luisa may have more structured dexterity and does use her strength frequently, Bob has used his in the most INTENSE of situations. He has an awareness and usability for his strength that shouldn’t be underestimated, and as such if they were to basically see who could LIFT more, I think Luisa would win, but if they actually FOUGHT? I think Bob’s got this HANDILY
There's a reason that isn't the premise of the video. Bob has years of combat experience, it's his job to fight people with superpowers. Luisa performs helpful tasks in a geographically sheltered community. Nobody needs to know who would win in a fight because there's no comparison
True I feel like she would have a hard time hitting him but I also feel like she only needs one good full power hit Her best feet of strength is actually the one we're she held the bridge by the edge and gently placed it down I don't remember the numbers off my head but basically it becomes a anti lever when you hold anything by the edge it's why some stuff feel heavier the farther away from the center you hold it from you take the weight of an object times the force of gravity times the suffes area and then cus she was moving it you can also multiply by how much force is being pushed down long story short she's boxing with all might at this point and I can only imagine she has at least half that durability Bob can win he just has to be careful but I think he can do it easier than people think
@@Down.D.Stairs. Doubt either has actually fought anyone in their own weight class though. They both may be a bit shocked to find out that a punch hurt. We watched both, not in a montage, but as a matter of events survive things that would have killed any normal human.
To be fair, if they actually fought hand to hand, Bob would win easily even if they were both completely depowered. Bob's the only one who's got any kind of fight training lol (That's, of course, not taking into account the fact that there's no way Bob Parr would ever willingly beat up a 17 year old😅)
@@asexualbert7262 You would kinda have to ignore the fact that the two of them would talk first and would have nothing to fight about. The fact that neither is actually violent, and it is not like either would have anything to gain... ignore pretty much both of their characters and then...
Luisa is more than just strong, she is a master of her strength. She doesn’t break everything she touches (watch her hold the piano), she knows just how hard to kick the donkey for it to land on top of the pile, and at the same time, the sheer strength it would take to carry that bridge from one side like she does is ridiculous. Her strength seems to adapt to the circumstance, so if she needed to “flatten a diamond” or “move a mountain” I’m sure she could. Magic sources win over biological ones.
TL;DR at bottom. True. I would like to add willpower and logic to the mix as well. If they were truly pitted against each other in true 1v1 style (no switching or calling backup), at their (potential) max strengths, I think Bob would be able to find out how to catch Luisa off guard and win the fight square and fair if she doesn't flatten him first. TL;DR: If the Bob VS Louisa fight were to happen at the true peak of their powers, in a true 1v1 no switch/backup match, Bob would win if given the time to catch Louisa off guard.
So bob wasn't born with powers, because someone commented how rare a person born with powers. He was given them by the government scientist. That is why the government cares about what happens to them based on their powers
That's assessment I could agree with. Using the song as evidence, that I cannot. Though no amount of strength would keep that bridge or church holding it's shape when moved like that so the magic itself must be keeping the objects intact. So that would help in everything as well.
I would say counting the granite globe isn't the same. That song is basically a fever dream, I mean she's TikTok dancing with donkeys and riding unicorns.... I don't think any of that was real. But Mr. Incredible's feats are all happening irl
I think Luisa is capable of many of the feats she claims. But since I doubt she would ever do them, I feel like it is more her speculation since her physical strength is effortless rather than something she has actually tested.
She wouldn't be the first to exaggerate. Listen to professional fighters talk about their abilities. I give the girl credit for how hard she works even after she gets the gift and for how she manages to remain as humble as she does.
Assuming Luisa's claims are legit, she is easily the stronger of the 2. But in a fight, Bob has the training and skills to overcome and win against her.
Not to mention Bob _has_ fought other people with super strength, so Luisa wouldn't even be anything new to him. On the other hand, Luisa's used to being the strongest person around, so there is the question of how she would handle going up against someone who could give her a run for her money.
I think, while unfortunate, we have to treat "Surface Pressure" as a sort of a dream. In which case we can't really count a lot of what she says or does in it. But, since we are talking a fight and who would win, even if we do take those things into account, Bob has YEARS of combat experience and world saving experience on top of that. Overall, I'm gunna have to go with the middle aged guy going through his midlife crisis 😆
You don't need to have Years of combat experience, it is enough 1-few fights to release mental block to harm other person. Bob can do that, and very fast. Can Louise do that? We have no indication of that at all. Moral victory for Bob, and next physical.
Mr Incredible has more experience in fighting, and he has the "ability to sense immediate danger" (check his NSA file on the Pixar Wiki). Bro literally has his own version of Spider-Sense. So even if Luisa is more strong than him he'd still be the most likely to win in a fight against her.
The way I see it, while Bob would probably win a fight against her I think Luisa is physically stronger, while we never see her lift anything as heavy as Bob it is also good to notice Luisa never seems to struggle even when lifting entire buildings. Meanwhile from most of Bob’s expressions he tends to struggle a bit on the heavier objects, even if it’s a little. Meanwhile Luisa is just lifting a building and doesn’t break a sweat.
The things we watch Bob struggle with are quite a bit heavier than buildings. Bob didn't struggle with juggling trains but did when a fully loaded train hit him at 55MPH. The difference between the two events is huge.
@@HerKnightable I know, I’m more just saying the fact that while Luisa’s strength seems limitless Bob’s is more grounded in reality and seems to have some form of a limit.
At the very start, here's my prediction: All depending on how the magic works, Bob might have the greater feat of strength, but Luisa could technically lift more (again, depending on how the magic works), but that wouldn't change the fact that Mr. Incredible has been through life or death combat, and is in all likelihood, actually trained. Hands down, it's Bob. The magic could work in a way that Luisa is as strong as she needs, but bob actually knows how to use his strength in combat. She might be able to win in an arm wrestling match though. Edit: ok, I've finished the vid and right from the start, I see that I've misjudge what the vid was about. It wasn't a fight, but a pre match overlook to a potential weight lifting competition. To that end, my stance is still firm. It all depends on how the magic works. Bob might have a feat that's leagues greater than whe can guarantee that Luisa has preformed (a crashing mark 10 omnidroid vs the local church), but if the magic grants Luisa the ability to be as strong as necessary, she possibly could lift several times higher than we've seen bob do. That's the trouble with trying to be scientific with magic, it can always work differently than your assumptions made it out to be.
I’d argue that we don’t get to see what she CAN do. We can physically see Bob’s limits, we don’t know if Luisa HAS limits, we don’t see her struggle AT ALL with her powers in play
@@DeadBore I would argue that we don’t see bobs limit. In the only case used in the video that he’s put on the ropes he’s also been fighting this thing for a while so he’s wearing out also he’s not in his prime plus he’s worried about his kids getting hurt while also protecting the buildings and civilians. Also with the math of the Omni droids weight I would also like to add that it would have to be something harder/denser than steel because bob says the only thing that can pierce it’s hull is itself. So that would imply that steel can’t damage it making it denser than steel making it heavier than steel. Also he did point out that he was only measuring the hull. Not the legs or the engine or the wiring or (probably hydraulic fluid?) so honestly I have to give bob a domination on this. Louisa is strong but a ~middle aged bob beats her. Bob in his prime would likely decimate.
@@DeadBore you do realize that the tracks were breaking under his feet right? That would be like trying to suddenly stop a car on sand or in heavy rain. If the ground moves out from under you it’s not the brakes that sucks. It’s the terrain
See the thing is that I suspect Luisa’s strength is literally as limited as she believes it to be, it seems to me the limits of their powers are nebulous at best
Based on the song it suggests that she may have got her strength due to her mental strength and ability to deal with her emotions, but she had been ignoring and suppressing them for so long that it all became too much which is why her emotions were so linked to her strength
I think the thing with "realness" of songs is very hard to measure, but my rule is that if the character seems to enter a wildly different place (a song world if you will) the character may be really singing but it's not really happening. In Surface Pressure Luisa and Mirabel go under the crust of the Earth early on so it's probably not real, while in What Else Can I Do Isabela and Mirabel are always in the Casita or around it, so it's probably really happening.
Hey, wanna realize how long you've been watching SCB? Ask yourself this: What was the last video of theirs you watched where they mention the math budget?
The real issue with Luisa is most of her 'feats' come in a musical number, which includes dancing donkeys, flying in the sky, Hercules and a giant Cerberus. I'm really not sure if we should treat them as 'true' XD How much is metaphor and how much is proven fact? I think the carrying a church is the biggest actual feat we saw?
One major flaw in the calculations for Luisa's strength is that 1100 lb weight for the donkeys would depend on the breed of donkey. In order to get a determination on the donkey's weight, you'd need to know the breed of the donkey first rather than picking arbitrarily, as is presented here.
Honestly, the heaviest thing she actually carries in the movie is the church. Counting the song feats is unfair and not proven. Also, by being the only super strong person, she has no competition to compare her with. Mr. Incredible had to compete with people who were lifting planes and had the ability to fly. Still HE was the one famous for his strength.
As I see it, her power allows her to be as strong as she needs to be for a situation. Isabella's power seems to be similar, as they evolve during the movie. Emotion seems to play a big role too for the family as a whole. Bob has some better strength feats, but Luisa has better potential especially since Bob can only get so fit until he hits his peak. But in a fight, he definitely wins due to lifestyle differences. He's a hero that's saved the world countless times, where as Luisa lives in relative peace. No battle experience at all.
When I worked at a Scout camp the donkey always helped the horses escape. It was a weekly occurrence. Donkeys are very smart and love figuring out how to open or break fences.
It's Bob. As you already said, Bob is NOT in his prime anymore (he's probably 20 years past that, in his 50s) and thus his body is technically not as strong anymore while Luisa IS in her prime, her 20s. The fact that Bob can STILL pull all this stuff off is *insane*
I wonder if Bob uses trains to train because of the incident with it, like he's training himself to be better at stopping them, the way he braced and winced makes me thing this was the first time he had done something like this
Think of the (surface) pressure on the ground when Luisa is holding the stone globe. There are 3 interesting points: the hand holding it up is a very small area holding a massive amount of rock (not sure if it could hold), then there's her feet on the ground. Would the ground hold her up with that much weight added to it that quickly
Problem with Bob and the train is that the wooden tracks keep breaking, so the maximum force he can exert in that scene is limited to the force that the beams can take, not necessarily what he can output.
I honestly don't think the exercise is changing their strength the way you think it is. When Bob is exercising, it's to get fitter as he found he was struggling with running around the jungle. But when it came to the fight with the first omnidroid he encounters, he's still super strong. I don't think he's necessarily getting stronger with the exercise, just more efficient in using his powers. If Louisa stopped exercising and let herself go, I believe she would still be able to lift everything she does now, just be more out of breath because of it. I hope that makes sense.
I think one another aspect we need to think about is whether or not Luisa would still have her powers if she leaves Encanto. I think she might be stronger in a brawl as we haven't really seen her struggle apart from when the magic was waning, but during the fight she might end up being launched away from Encanto. If her powers are tied to it, it might mean she would lose them or at least get weaker the further away she is. If that's the case Bob might have a chance.
LOL I know how this would start where she doesn't have to leave. Bob gets hit with something hard that sends him flying and he ends up in the town. She see this intruder and goes right to fight him to defend the towns people. But because neither of them want to hurt the people so they take the fight out of the town.
Fair point. When here strength failed, she had a mental breakdown over it. That's not good in a fight. When Bob's strength didn't have the desired effect, he did what he had to do to survive.
When Luisa has her powers, we never see her struggle. She doesn't need a second or third punch to destroy something like Bob. Her powers seem to be limitless. So I have to give it to her.
The song should count. Luisa is a very down to earth lady. Luisa would not say these things if she couldn't back it up. Bob is a better fighter. But she is stronger & has (technically) been using her strength for a longer period of time. I would also like to see another versus video. Jake Long vs Sisu.
I'm not sure about Luisa having been using her strength more. Bob is 40-something-year-old and has had his powers for his whole life. Sure Luisa is more actively using her gift but she has only had it for less than 15 years, while Bob's break after supers were banned is already as long, which leaves Bob with active period of around 25 years. I think they might be pretty even as Bob was pretty hard working during his training and active period.
To be fair, I don't think she's making any _claims_ with what she says in SP so much as metaphors. Because like, why would she be literally saying she can flatten diamonds and platinum? In what context did she need to do that in order to know she can?😂
The math budget was definitely paid for this one! It was especially interesting to watch because it lines up with what I’m learning in my physics class right now!
I love this comparison and am so glad you at least noted the fact that the droid would have heavier parts inside of it. Personally though I’d go with Bob mainly for the fact that Luisa has never been in a fight and yet like you said Bob has never collected animals. So I’d say task is important so maybe a 2 out of 3 challenge.
Hey something that you could think about what if a poet isn’t super strength but not feeling weight That’s why her strength is limitless she just doesn’t feel anything heavy it’s just weightless
What makes no sense to me is how Luisa also lost the strength she had from working out I mean she should still have that that's body strength and not a power/gift from a candle
Well, pianos are heavy and she still kind of moved it. I didn't watch that whole movie, so I don't know how much losing her power affected her, but, from this video, it looks like she still had something like an average to above average human.
Yeah, that was something I wondered about, too. I think Luisa's total loss of strength is meant to symbolize burnout. She overworks herself *constantly*. When someone suffers from burnout, even getting out of bed can get hard, despite them technically still having the physical strength.
I don't think she did. I think any struggle she had with things she should have been able to lift with human strength could be somewhat equated to panic. She's expecting to be much more capable, so when it's gone she can't focus enough to even put regular human strength into the task. Keep in mind that she also probably doesn't _know_ how much she should be able to carry without her powers or, probably, how to properly lift things like a person. She was 5 when she got super strength so she's just gotten _very_ used to not having to put in _any_ effort
If Luisa is as strong as she needs to be, then her ceiling is limitless. The sphere comparison was very cool. I like having a similar reference object. Bob having a natural superpower for even if the candle were to expire would be the difference.
Considering moving mountains is something Louisa is constantly said to be able to do do, the fact that Isabellas powers appear to able to affect the entire city at once, her moving mountains is likely a fair estimate
I don’t think it’s fair to use a song to determine strength. Just because I sing a song about myself being able to jump to the moon in one leap doesn’t mean I can lol
A house, even of that size, is way lighter than a 55' diameter sphere of solid rock, which she holds up with a single hand. So I don't see a reason for him to bring that feat up. Trust me, I'm a building engineer. I know how much a house weighs and it's nowhere near the weight of that globe.
Even if the song is discounted she does randomly carry a church around including the pastor and I assume furniture so it’s pretty likely that she could spin a house on her feet I would say…
her song does indeed count as she mentions that she does a lot of those things; not only does she say that she flattens diamonds and platinum but she finds them as well
Bob can be restrained by an electro magnets, that's not very strong. Plus Mirabelle's song "waiting on a miracle" again the fact Louisa can move mountains is brought up. It may be that Louisa has moved the mountains surrounding the Encanto to let someone out or in when needed
honestly i'm not ever sure luisa's power is strength: it might be gravity considering that no matter how strong you are you cannot keep a church together in the air unless you can control gravitational pulls, not to mention that being able to not fall over when holding on the edge of an object much heavier than you (bridge) has nothing to do with strength
That's so true! Holding a building on one edge is impossible for a human simply due to the point of contact. Maybe Luisa can alter the weight of objects by altering the pull?
@@bricksnblocks still wouldn't matter since its center of mass is so far out, simply would fall over because of gravity. The only way would be for her to be able to alter the direction of gravity or the influence of gravity on objects, consciously or subconsciously.
I don’t think her feats in the song count since it’s a dramatization for the song itself. She also flies in the song so I don’t think we can take that as a show of her strength.
I don't think the song counts as a cannon feet but you forgot 1 thing Luisa best strength feet is actually the simple act of when she easily placed the stone bridge down while holding it from the edge I don't know the numbers but I do know holding anything by the edge will act like a anti lever adding to it's weight a crazy amount the bigger it is and by how much it's being moved
I don't think you can use the stuff that happens in Surface Pressure because it's all the spectacle to help with the message of the song plus most songs do similar things like when in We Don't Talk About Bruno it flashes back to the wedding
I'd like to appreciate something about Luísa, she doesn't get her muscles from her gift but from taking time to work out and this is proven by the fact when she looses her gift, she doesn't loose her muscles (everyday)
I have an answer for the donkey thing! Miniature donkeys are a lot smaller than regular donkeys, so that accounts for the low end of the spectrum. There are also mammoth donkeys, which are much larger than normal and are like the size of a pony/small horse. Average donkeys usually weigh somewhere around 600-800 pounds.
I mean Luisa's powers are from magical and at her full force she can literally do anything without sweating. But Bob struggles because even though he has super strength he's also got human resistance.
@@backonlazer791 Probably that, unlike Luisa, Bob has to worry about things like his body breaking under the stress of lifting these things. He has to put in physical effort and could get hurt. Luisa is never shown doing that until her powers fade.
@@yawninglion1677 Maybe, but it's not really fair to call it human resistance, considering that he can punch through thick metal without really being harmed. It's true that he has the strain himself a lot more than Luisa does, though.
@@backonlazer791 exactly what @yawning lion said. Like Luisas exhaustion is tied to her magic. But as said in the video we are judging them at their peak. And their peak Luisa can do anything, at his peak Bob does appear to have a breaking point / get exhausted
I feel like what happens in song should not be included when measuring Louisa’s strength; as you said, it seems more like a whimsical dream state than actual reality, so if we’re going off purely what we see in the movies, I think Bob takes it. That said, I don’t think we’ve seen the limits of either of their strengths, so until we get a confirmed point of failure, I think it’s impossible to tell who’s stronger.
I think the song "surface pressure" is all a metaphor for her internal confidence struggle, so I don't actually count any of that, it is a dream sequence basically. I think Bob is the stronger of the two just based on what you see. Also Luisa uses her powers to essentially do chores for the encanto, while Bob is actively fighting people who are trying to wreak stuff, I think that would give him more incentive to work harder in his situations. He is also so strong he causally breaks stuff around him, like the table at dinner WITH A SMALL KICHTEN KNIFE. You could also have Maui from Moana in this video, you are mixing Pixar with Disney films so you would have to decide if you cared or not.
Giving Bob the edge with the reasoning of “that’s what he does as a superhero” (paraphrasing here) is unfair. Luisa’s strength defines her so much that the rest of her is eclipsed by it. By the time Encanto begins she has come to believe her entire worth as a person is due to her strength.
Something important you're ignoring (which I see a lot of people getting wrong) is that Bob's ability is not super strength, it's super physicality! He's not just strong, he's also capable of making massive leaps, running at a very high speed and has near perfect accuracy when throwing stuff. In fact, if you look at him fighting, he almost alway starts by throwing something at his opponent.
i feel like the scene where Luisa lifts the bridge is highly underrated, since she lifts it from it's very edge, completely ignoring all the extra weight it'd get from it's torque
I don't think Louisa can move mountains. she also said she beat up Cerberus. It doesn't seem like supernatural beasts seem to exist in her world. the globe is clearly a metaphor only Bob wins by far
She said “…was Hercules ever like, ‘Yo I don’t want to fight Cerberus.’ I think she’s applying her own fears to the labours of Hercules which he could have felt daunted by.
Ok, but how much force does it take to not just lift that church, but PULL ITS FOUNDATION OUT OF THE GROUND? Most of the stuff that Bob lifts is not secured down in any way.
Depends on the size of the church. The one she was lifting didn't look particularly big, but it was made out of stone. I'm kind of bummed out they didn't give an estimate for that.
Not sure if the church is heavier than the omnidroid, But it is certainly made of stone/granite and she lifts it with one hand, carries it around (tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if there had still been people inside, who just shrugged at being jostled around). ...not sure where here kicking a whole askew (stone-built) house back straight with one foot falls. Or when Luisa first *lost her powers* , she described (1) grabbing all the donkeys who then, when she wanted (2) to throw them into the barn, they felt heavy. ...Like, carrying several donkeys was still no biggie (as she's just that solid, didn't buckle), but 'throwing' them was too much (using force, like when moving giant potted plants or pianos). It's a whole different discussion if Luisa's "magic" to not kick through above mentioned wall but move the house instead or carry a whole church in one hand without it breaking apart under its own un-distributed weight is a power on its own, whereas Bob left holes and hand print indents quite a lot...
I may have just convinced myself, that both Luisa and Bob are "irresistible forces" with their powers, but Luisa may also / still be a near "immovable object" by nature, even without the magic she's been gifted.
Numbers to numbers comparison? Bob held omnidroid bashing, the same bashing that broke Violet's shield. And how strong was that shield?... There is Film Theory video exactly about this topic!
Hey guys! Love your content. Just a quick question - I have watched your video on your rankings/tier list of the HP movies, have you ever done anything like that for the books (video or pod)? Would love to hear your takes on the books against one another, as I know you're books > movies of course! Anyway, keep up the great content!
Something I’d like to know. Look at Luisa’s shirt. It’s white, like clean right out of the wash white. How does it stay so white and so clean? Throughout the movie you see Louisa lift donkeys (who aren’t the cleanest of creatures), rocks and structures like houses and bridges and you see dirt and dust fly around in the air, Louisa even cracks stones on her “hard” head, she lifts a piano yet through all this Luisa’s shirt remains cleans and white with no stains, smudges or blemishes. How?
No, her dream sequence definitely doesn't count and I was getting ready to leave an angry comment until you said it first haha. I don't believe she's ever flattened a diamond either, because what ridiculous waste of what is surely an extremely limited supply when they aren't capable of leaving the valley. Bob takes it for me easy
Exactly lol. The diamonds and platinum line is definitely figurative and the only real proof needed is "In what context would she have ever done that before???"😂
I feel like her globe scene isn't real given the song end and shoes they haven't moved and makes me think that it's a metaphor for mental weight over physical
two different super strength types. luica has most likely an direct buff to an strength treshhold while bobs super power sems to be base strength multiplication
The thing is you can’t flatten diamonds. Diamond are a brittle material (brittle just means it breaks before it deforms) the harder a material is the more brittle it is. Hardness is the measure of resistance to permanent deformation.
I'd say most of what Luisa claims in Surface Pressure is legit because she wouldn't have a reason to exaggerate her physical might. In terms of raw strength, I think Luisa wins, no contest. Bob does have an advantage in how he actively works out to increase his strength, but I still don't think it beats Luisa's seemingly effortless power.
Songs should never be counted in movies and tv shows, unless it’s actually happening, but on the other hand I believe Luisa’s strength to be limitless, I feel like all weight above a certain point feels the exact same, she has limitless strength put still get strained by it
Gotta say that math in imperial units is just bonkers. No unit correlates with another in a minimum logical sense. Inches with foot, pounds with tons. It's everything just random.
Yeah it's really hard to make a comparison between the two. Bob has a lot of examples of his strength to work with... Louisa is left with mostly song lyrics and visual metaphores, which are hard to buy as being literal.
18:15 very unrelated to the point of the video, just thought it was funny that i used an actual platinum stick, 4 days ago in my chemistry lab. (For doing a flame test of sodium and potassium ions)
I would say Luisa is the Stronger, not necessarily because she can lift more, but because she seems to project her strength into other items preventing them from breaking as she carries them, AND can seamlessly remove/merge them into places. She isnt strong, she has Game Engine access to move Assets.

I love that person asking Luisa to reroute the river since it's a nod to Heracles, who Luisa references in her song.
Heracles? Isnt she singing about Hercules?
@@helmakainhofer3732 Heracles and Hercules are the same person
@@helmakainhofer3732 Heracles is Greek and Hercules is Italian they are the same person though
Bob's the only one who's got any kind of fight training lol
(That's, of course, not taking into account the fact that there's no way Bob Parr would ever willingly beat up a 17 year old😅)
@@asexualbert7262 You would kinda have to ignore the fact that the two of them would talk first and would have nothing to fight about.
She is smarter than Mr incredible, definitely.
@@christianali5431 is she though? What intelligence does she display that would make u say that?
That's assessment I could agree with.
Using the song as evidence, that I cannot.
Though no amount of strength would keep that bridge or church holding it's shape when moved like that so the magic itself must be keeping the objects intact. So that would help in everything as well.
I would say counting the granite globe isn't the same. That song is basically a fever dream, I mean she's TikTok dancing with donkeys and riding unicorns.... I don't think any of that was real. But Mr. Incredible's feats are all happening irl
Exactly, I don't know why he took that seriously.
I think that is exactly the point. I don't think Luisa is massively strong as much as the magic makes things lighter and softer as required.
Assuming Luisa's claims are legit, she is easily the stronger of the 2. But in a fight, Bob has the training and skills to overcome and win against her.
if she has that power, she would create a black hole just from sneezing
Not to mention Bob _has_ fought other people with super strength, so Luisa wouldn't even be anything new to him. On the other hand, Luisa's used to being the strongest person around, so there is the question of how she would handle going up against someone who could give her a run for her money.
Plus Bob was trained by the government to do stuff for them I'm sure he done sneaky missions before
why would they fight, anyway. why cant they be friends-
I think, while unfortunate, we have to treat "Surface Pressure" as a sort of a dream.
I completely agree. She flies in the song and dances with the donkeys. I don’t think the actions in the song can be used.
You don't need to have Years of combat experience, it is enough 1-few fights to release mental block to harm other person. Bob can do that, and very fast. Can Louise do that? We have no indication of that at all. Moral victory for Bob, and next physical.
Agreed. Movie musical logic is different. Anything that happens from the moment the music starts is moot.
@@HerKnightable I know, I’m more just saying the fact that while Luisa’s strength seems limitless Bob’s is more grounded in reality and seems to have some form of a limit.
i would like to object! Luisa is not Physically stronger..... she is magically stronger than bob :D
You ever see guys work out? We're always struggling 😂
"Who's" is a contraction of the words "who" and "is" whereas "whose" is a question of who something belongs to.
At the very start, here's my prediction:
All depending on how the magic works, Bob might have the greater feat of strength, but Luisa could technically lift more (again, depending on how the magic works), but that wouldn't change the fact that Mr.
I think Mr Incredible's train-lifting workout was more about losing his gut rather than increasing his strength.
Considering that all of her major edges over bob are in what is essentially a dream sequence and more than likely didn't happen. Bob easily wins
@@jasonburns3480 and I’d argue that stopping that train in 11 seconds is his limit
@@DeadBore you do realize that the tracks were breaking under his feet right? That would be like trying to suddenly stop a car on sand or in heavy rain. If the ground moves out from under you it’s not the brakes that sucks. It’s the terrain
@@jasonburns3480 surely stopping a car in the sand would be way easier than stopping it in the rain
See the thing is that I suspect Luisa’s strength is literally as limited as she believes it to be, it seems to me the limits of their powers are nebulous at best
I would have to say Mr Incredible. He literally threw robot that probably weighed more than 30,000 pounds.
They didn’t talk about that I think that point tho more than proves it
More like 40M pounds
The fact that you put “donkey wrangling” and “home team advantage” in the same sentence and that it WORKS is honestly amazing to me
Based on the song it suggests that she may have got her strength due to her mental strength and ability to deal with her emotions, but she had been ignoring and suppressing them for so long that it all became too much which is why her emotions were so linked to her strength
I think the reason Bob works out is to get into better physical shape, not because he's gotten any weaker.
My thinking too, since he actively measures his waistline as his goal.
Not gonna lie, my first thought when the video started was, "oh they paid the math budget."
What _was_ the last video in which they paid it? It feels both fairly recent, and also like it's been _ages_😂
Im pretty sure in Encanto, Luisa's strength in song seems more metaphorical to emphasize that she is the "Strong" one in the family.
One major flaw in the calculations for Luisa's strength is that 1100 lb weight for the donkeys would depend on the breed of donkey. In order to get a determination on the donkey's weight, you'd need to know the breed of the donkey first rather than picking arbitrarily, as is presented here.
Doesn't _really_ matter when the donkeys weren't even near the heaviest thing she lifts.
@@backonlazer791 That's fair, but my point is for the integrity of the math, because *I'm a nerd*
Oh my gosh… TRAINing. Mr incredible TRAINs.
Luisa is *not* in her 20s. Although, she'd be much older than Bob by the time he was born. Like, dead levels of old.
Hey can you do Elasti-Girl vs that Shapeshifting guy
Seven foot frame
Thank you
I wonder if Bob uses trains to train because of the incident with it, like he's training himself to be better at stopping them, the way he braced and winced makes me thing this was the first time he had done something like this
Think of the (surface) pressure on the ground when Luisa is holding the stone globe.
The surface pressure song is an idealization of Luisa. Like, you don’t think she and Mirabel actually fell off a cliff, did you?
16:35 You forgot to take into account that it was not just dropping itself, but actively PULLING itself toward the ground.
@@candycover but they are both good people and I’m sure bob doesn’t want to cause any harm
@@fairymystonight1783 Of course not. which is why they move the fight out of the city. The fight is just a big misunderstanding.
Fair point. When here strength failed, she had a mental breakdown over it. That's not good in a fight. When Bob's strength didn't have the desired effect, he did what he had to do to survive.
Not a question I had and not an answer I knew I needed
In what context did she need to do that in order to know she can?😂
If you hadn't of of used up the whole of the maths budget, you should have included when luisas footsteps made the ground shake
So I’d say task is important so maybe a 2 out of 3 challenge.
why did it take me until this video to realize that Bob was literally in a *train*ing montage
Hey something that you could think about what if a poet isn’t super strength but not feeling weight
That’s why her strength is limitless she just doesn’t feel anything heavy it’s just weightless
Maybe it compounds
Yeah, that was something I wondered about, too.
I think Luisa's total loss of strength is meant to symbolize burnout. She overworks herself *constantly*. When someone suffers from burnout, even getting out of bed can get hard, despite them technically still having the physical strength.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think grand pianos are still astonishingly heavy
I don't think she did. I think any struggle she had with things she should have been able to lift with human strength could be somewhat equated to panic. She's expecting to be much more capable, so when it's gone she can't focus enough to even put regular human strength into the task. Keep in mind that she also probably doesn't _know_ how much she should be able to carry without her powers or, probably, how to properly lift things like a person. She was 5 when she got super strength so she's just gotten _very_ used to not having to put in _any_ effort
18:51 but we also here Louisa say I move mountains so I don’t think it’s meant to be taken literally and rather just showing that she’s really strong
If Luisa is as strong as she needs to be, then her ceiling is limitless.
The sphere comparison was very cool. I like having a similar reference object.
Bob having a natural superpower for even if the candle were to expire would be the difference.
Ben: "with beloved Math"
Me who just desperatly tried to get the physics assignment for University done for 2 hours: noo 😩💀
Considering moving mountains is something Louisa is constantly said to be able to do do, the fact that Isabellas powers appear to able to affect the entire city at once, her moving mountains is likely a fair estimate
Ben for Kvothe!🧙🏻♂️🗡 J for Elodin!🗡🧙🏻♂️ You guys should think about doing more of these if you’re not already. They’re really cool!
But can they lute?
Now this is the reason to which you asked your teacher ‘when am I ever going to need to know the volume of a sphere’
This is like a classic Game Theory video, I love it
Does Luisa get the feats from the song “pressure” bc she literally spins a house with her feet casually in that
Ah yes, the Feet of Strength.
"Alright the combatants are set. We've run the data through all possibilities here. It's time for a DEATH BATTLE!"
her song does indeed count as she mentions that she does a lot of those things; not only does she say that she flattens diamonds and platinum but she finds them as well
Bob can be restrained by an electro magnets, that's not very strong.
@@angeloinfinity3054 Yeah, you're right, I didn't think of that.
@@bricksnblocks tbh it's not the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about super strength 😂
True, plus Mirabel and the kids were on it
I don't think you can use the stuff that happens in Surface Pressure because it's all the spectacle to help with the message of the song plus most songs do similar things like when in We Don't Talk About Bruno it flashes back to the wedding
Okay but we did see her move the church we do know she has the capability to reroute the river and she definitely does carry those donkeys
I'd like to appreciate something about Luísa, she doesn't get her muscles from her gift but from taking time to work out and this is proven by the fact when she looses her gift, she doesn't loose her muscles (everyday)
So much focus on the donkeys I love it! LOL
9:20 Americans will use anything other then that the metric system now they measure thing in donkeys
Finallly using the math budget again! I can't wait!
Could you imagine the fight of Lusia and Mr incredible. What a battle that would be!
I could see a post apocalyptic situation in which the Earth cracks
Wouldn't be much of a fight since luisa has no combat experience while bob has been fighting for multiple years.
If Luisa grabs him, the fight is over and Luisa isn’t slow or clumsy
@@greywarden5513 No because luisa has zero combat experience.
I mean Luisa's powers are from magical and at her full force she can literally do anything without sweating. But Bob struggles because even though he has super strength he's also got human resistance.
What do you mean by "human resistance"?
Please tell me you paid the math budget 1:22
Oh good you did 4:32
I think the song "surface pressure" is all a metaphor for her internal confidence struggle, so I don't actually count any of that, it is a dream sequence basically.
Can we get FilmTheory and DeathBattle in on this? I feel like this is right up their alley
Day 37 of asking J and Ben to pleeeease bring back google auto fill videos!!!
I'm so glad they addressed that the song may not be real and is just metaphorical.
Something important you're ignoring (which I see a lot of people getting wrong) is that Bob's ability is not super strength, it's super physicality! He's not just strong, he's also capable of making massive leaps, running at a very high speed and has near perfect accuracy when throwing stuff. In fact, if you look at him fighting, he almost alway starts by throwing something at his opponent.
i feel like the scene where Luisa lifts the bridge is highly underrated, since she lifts it from it's very edge, completely ignoring all the extra weight it'd get from it's torque
you can only go by what you actually witness them doing and songs don't count because it is separate from the continuity of the story.
“One time she said a metaphor, therefore this other thing she said must have been a metaphor”
Even if you don't count anything we witness in the song that doesn't remove the fact that she moved a freaking Church
@@jae5004 oh you're right about Cerberus. My bad still don't think she could literally move mountains.
Ok, but how much force does it take to not just lift that church, but PULL ITS FOUNDATION OUT OF THE GROUND? Most of the stuff that Bob lifts is not secured down in any way.
I think the greatest feat we see from Luisa is moving the church, churches are really heavy, heavier than anything we see Bob lift.
_It's time for a_ *Death Battle!*
Wait, this isn't the right channel...
I think you took the wrong turn at Goji Center, my friend xD
The diamonds and platinum line is definitely figurative and the only real proof needed is "In what context would she have ever done that before???"😂
So glad you guys paid the math budget for this one!!
I feel like her globe scene isn't real given the song end and shoes they haven't moved and makes me think that it's a metaphor for mental weight over physical
I love when they pay the math budget. It makes the theory make even more sense cause your applying something real to something fictional
two different super strength types.
luica has most likely an direct buff to an strength treshhold while bobs super power sems to be base strength multiplication
What if someone becomes master of the elder wand then is never disarmed
The thing is you can’t flatten diamonds. Diamond are a brittle material (brittle just means it breaks before it deforms) the harder a material is the more brittle it is. Hardness is the measure of resistance to permanent deformation.
I'd say most of what Luisa claims in Surface Pressure is legit because she wouldn't have a reason to exaggerate her physical might. In terms of raw strength, I think Luisa wins, no contest. Bob does have an advantage in how he actively works out to increase his strength, but I still don't think it beats Luisa's seemingly effortless power.
Songs should never be counted in movies and tv shows, unless it’s actually happening, but on the other hand I believe Luisa’s strength to be limitless, I feel like all weight above a certain point feels the exact same, she has limitless strength put still get strained by it
Better ask for a discount on the math budget as the average would be the mathematical approach to the donkeys.
Being at the center of a planet you would actually have less gravity pushing down on you because it would start pulling outward on you.
Gigapascal sounds like a Tangled spinoff with a very angry Pascal 😁
I would say Luisa is the Stronger, not necessarily because she can lift more, but because she seems to project her strength into other items preventing them from breaking as she carries them, AND can seamlessly remove/merge them into places. She isnt strong, she has Game Engine access to move Assets.
Yeah, she never even chips anything she moves, whereas Bob has to actively focus on not using excessive force
