Seulgi underestimated Irene and thought she could control her, but no. Irene’s dangerous with an innocent look and starts to take control of Seulgi instead. It’s kind of visible through the choreography at the start and end where the 2 of them and the dancers form a kind of monster/spider figure. Irene starts off as the body and Seulgi has control, but at the end Seulgi becomes the body and Irene has control over her. Sort of like a “we may look sweet and innocent but we’re dangerous” theme.

Yeah, it's backed up by how Suelgi is creepy in at the beginning, crawling but at the middle of the song is Irene the one with the "monster" face. It's two entities fighting over one body more or less.
At the end of the choreography, you can see that Seulgi is actually under Irene, and Irene’a hands almost look like she’s controlling her, like a puppet. They’re also doing the same movements, but I guess that’s normal since this is a dance 🤷♀️
I think we can see the real irene ( the malefic one ) when the background become red in little cut like we can just see it a little bit

Fun fact: this MV came out later than expected because the editor had to cut some scenes in which Irene had a knife.
Maybe that's the reason why Jordan felt like some parts of the editing were kinda off.

From what I got from others in the music video; Seulgi was the Monster and was crawling in the beginning towards "Innocent" Irene to consume her, but we see that Irene isn't as innocent as she seems. Instead of consuming into both of them occupying the same body at the start of the bed room scene (2 beds, 1 room) "One Light, Two shadows". It turns into a battle of control and seduction over the body. Later it turns out the Irene became the monster and Seulgi the prey, loosing control over her own body. Seulgi makes one last desperate attempt to take control again by eliminating Irene (gun scene) but decides to surrender under her spell. MV ends with Seulgi being the face of the spider and Irene is the one who controls the vessel.

I think it's more about that the innocent girl is getting possessed by the monster and supposed to be her shadow. The real monster is making the innocent one dream only about her. The innocent girl thinks she is the monster but the real monster is the one that had the demon face. We could see that she showed her real demon face behind the girl that she was possessing. And we can see in the choreography that in the beginning it looked like "the innocent girl" was controlling the monster but in the end of the mv we can see that they switching sides and that the real monster is the one that was controlling her. So for the monster is just all games and teasing but the innocent girl realize it and she becomes no longer innocent and is possessed.

it is like actually seulgi thinks that she is the real bad girl there cuz in here lyrics she said that shes sick of following rules and some bad girl stuff.....but then irene haunts her and she falls for her but when irene reveals her true face (vampire) seulgi comes to know that irene is the real monster , she really tries to kill her (the scene with gun) but then shes so fallen for her that she shoots the ground ........ that means irene succede. so when the dance broke out (the dance in which jordan literally died) is actually the transsformation of seulgi into vampire.........
I died when he went from "there should have been jumpcuts there, they're doing just kinda basic choreography" to a full heartattack and "coolest thing I've seen in 2020" within 2 seconds

I’m sure a bunch of people already mentioned their theories but I’m just gonna leave this one here. KpopJunkee is actually the one who thought of this I just really agree with him. He thinks it’s about a monster (Seulgi) stalking and then possessing their ‘innocent’ prey (Irene), but Irene is not the innocent girl Seulgi thinks she is and they battle for control. The scenes of them in the one room show that they’re two minds in one body. Seulgi starts losing control because she underestimated her prey and eventually Irene wins. So in the end when they form the ‘Spider’ in the dance it’s Irene controlling it, which is the opposite of how it started.

In the movie "Interview with the Vampire" there's a little vampire girl called Claudia. These scenes of Irene and her creepy dolls reminds Claudia, because Claudia has a bedroom with a lot of dolls. In one of the scenes Claudia hides the naked body of one maid that she had bitten and killed in the middle of the dolls. I saw Irene with the dolls and thought: Is she hiding a dead body in the middle of the dolls?

the lyrics of the song also point to both girls being the same person or the shadows of one person (questioning why one person suddenly has two shadows) so it can also be about internal conflict about "being a monster" and realizing things about yourself you didn't know before. Both take turns being the hunter and the hunted and they cut scenes of Irene with a knife. I thought Seulgi having the gun and pointing it at her shadow gave me Van Hellsing vibes. The song also samples the chant from I think the Nightmare on Elm Street films so it's basically a nod to horror all around. The bedroom scenes were lit very much like the film Suspiria

But in the end Irene took over and is now controlling seulgi in basically the same way with the exact dance move.
It’s the very first and the very last move we see, so I think that’s a very cool detail

I came across a quite interesting theory:
So basically, Seulgi is a monster, coming after Irene, who is innocent and pure. The whole music video is about Irene getting seduced by the evil, represented by Seulgi, and finally surrendering to it, becoming a monster herself.
So the lesbian undertones (which I adore) would be there to accentuate the seduction power Evil has over Innocence.
But hey, it’s just a theory, a mv theory 😉

I love watching video editors' reaction to music videos. Maybe because they know the effort and talent required in making these beautiful works of art and so they also know how to appreciate them, unlike people who are not interested in this field.
P.S. That one scene where Seulgi was pointing her gun at the ground, she was pointing the gun at her "shadow." At the start of the choreography (the spider formation), it was Seulgi who was controlling Irene who appears to be innocent. Seulgi crawls towards her as if she was seduced by Irene. While the video was progressing, it shows that Irene is actually a monster and that Seulgi has her gun ready to kill her. At the end of the dance, Irene controls Seulgi in the spider formation.
I’ve just found your channel now and I subscribe immediately after seeing this reaction! It's kinda a reversal story- Seulgi is clearly the more menacing one from the beginning, but Irene is more menacing than she seems by the ens and ultimately overpowers Seulgi
