I was surprised how much dust there was under the lip of that header. Likely an oring for a seal further in but that issue with a simple gasket would keep dust further away. Nice video!
I was told by a person that letting the tractor or something with DEF sit for long times like during winter what not is hard on the def system cause that stuff likes to crystallize what is your opinion on that? Thanks for sharing buddy
Deere purges all the lines and suck them back into the tank after u turn the key off. As with any def system, the def injector does get build up of crystallization. It is a good idea to start them and let run every once in awhile probably
@@agger838 problem is even pulling the majority of the fluid out still leaves film and that film is what creates all that. crystallization. If you know it was going to freeze I really think we would be better of leaving lines full.
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Was interesting watching you work on a def unit. One thing I do not know anything about. Def is not suit. I understand why def and all that but being honest is an item we do not need this day and age. Interesting seeing you working on this unit. Pretty straight forward once you understand the connections and wiring and such. Thanks for showing us ZK. You take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything ZK. The Iowa farm boy. You probably busy with storm damaged equipment if storm hit you too. Zach Johnson and Larson Farms got hit hard. Lot of equipment had to be hauled to dealership for repairs. Too bad. Thanks
HA!! when i worked at nasty CASE dealer , about a DOZEN of them went bad . 3-4 skid steers , few tractors , and an excavator . i got 6 to change back then . all good DEF and sensor said 21-25% ranges . and one said 'water' in code lingo . companies havent figgered out how to set or even HAVE the coolant flow CONTROLLED , kuzz stuff turns to AMMONIA with just some simple HEAT from the engine coolant...... rock on ,kid!!!
This is one of the most frustrating repairs because it isn't necessary. The government puts handcuffs on the ability for us to produce food therefor controls us.
Hi Zeth. Thanks for sharing this particular service call.. I'm not too familiar on DEF machines. My equipment has DPF's only. Always impressed with your knowledge & experience!!.. Have a great weekend!.. Keep those zip ties trimmed.. ;o)
Hey, I love your channel and you are the main reason I want to go through the John Deere ag tech program. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction for trouble shooting a 7430 ivt that won’t let you scroll back up you’re pre set speeds for f1 and f2. You can scroll down no problem, but when you try to scroll back up, it just fluctuates between .6 mph, then drops back down to what it was at before
Funny how nowadays you can spend hundreds of thousands on a piece of equipment to make your living and the def can be the difference between your crop going in the ground or not.
Sensor looks extremely similar to Cats version, we've actually been replacing just the sensor and not the whole head. Just comes down to availability I guess.
I appreciate you taking time sharing your knowledge knowing what actually going on out in the field of type of failures and repairs. Are these repairs fed back to corporate headquarters for countermeasures to reduce warranty claims for these types of repairs out in the field?Definitely catchya at the next one. Stay safe!!
Hey just wanted to say as a 18 year old apprentice at Caterpillar I would do anything to be able to learn from you and I think you are one of the coolest people on RUclips and your teaching methods are amazing and awesome and I love them. Keep it up!!!
Viewed 5-14-22 from Fairview Hts.. Il Hey Zeth OK..............soooooooooooooo the code said wrong DEF replace fluid, but you knew the fluid tested ok with the other tractor. My thinking is if the fluid temp is not up to a specific temp level, the system throws up this code knowing the heater is at fault right ????
Mike Mitchells new Fendt def sensor went bad the first day. Still had dealer def in the tank. Looked alike. Are the made by the same company. Can't be many companies making that junk!
Another great video! I've got a new to us 7200r that the mfwd axle was left without lube being put back in it. Got it all apart and parts ordered from Sloan's if you'd like some content to come show us the correct way to rebuild it 😁 lol
Got it all rebuilt. luckily the local dealer let us borrow the fixture to set up differential. Quite the procedure compared to semi rear ends. Lots of micrometer and dial indicator readings.🤣🤣 Way way to much math
In the event that you accidentally break something that is unrelated to the repair how do you handle this ? Does Sloan pay for it or do you have to pay for it ?

Nice set of tools and toolboxes on your service truck.
Lots of DEF related problems out there to be sure. Thanks for another episode.
As always, educational and enjoyable
Hi Zeth.. Received my new ZK MasterTech shirts today. They look very nice, plus a high quality shirt too!!.. Have a great week.. :o)
If you want something to stay, might as well as throw it on the ground anyways because it will probably end up there.
Yup lol
Man you got a amazing set of tools brother. Awesome video Zeath. What's one of those parts cost that you just replaced?
Are these defective units returned to JD for analysis or just binned?
Nice vid!
You were talking about rain.... Have you seen what happened at Millennial Farmer? You might head back there for a job or two.....
Two of the same problem on the same model tractor. Hmm; Deere might have a problem with that part!
They had one in stock! You don’t stock parts that don’t move.
I wish DEF headers were all that easily accessible. I work on school buses and they are not that accessible to get too.
What year is that tractor and is that original DEF unit? Curious why so many problems with that?? Thanks for the vids. Jim.
Because it is government mandated….
Do i need an 18mm at work no. Do i want that 18mm yes
I would just delete this shit
Not if the tractor is under warranty.

DEF is the worst thing to happen to diesel engines. Always a good video..
I’d argue egr is worse but dam I hate those def jugs.

No storm damaged here in central Illinois

DEF delete. government ain't got no buisness being there
Is the heater in that manifold. Mine keeps saying def heater not working
Are those def headers an updated style. I find the concentration sensor is always faulty. Not sure why they fail.

DEF Should be like antifreeze so it won’t freeze until it goes below a set temperature
ZK, I would be interested in seeing a video on repairing the idler gear that’s behind the Driven fan clutch of a 8300R series.
I get all flustered when I see all your tools in your service truck. 😮
There so many problems with def headers from coming to paccar
Had an out loud chuckle at The Reference! Nice work on the video.
Great video, that’s the tractor I was running this season
Clicked around and got it.
Where is the video?

No. DEF concentration sensor was bad. Had nothing to do with the temp
