This is awesome how you diagnose and get things fixed and your primary focus is customer satisfaction, especially keen on the fact it’s planting season and that farmer needs his timing fixed quickly and no doubt you will get it back to him do that farmer can get it done. That’s his bread and butter. Love the channel
Only question I’ve got is why the original fuse needed to be replaced in the first place, then I guess the owner put the lesser rated fuse in, Hope the original reason for fuse failure doesn’t come back
Don't use Chinuckian generic fuses, (HFT) they can be intermittent and can blow too easily or never blow. Name brand Buss fuses ONLY. 🙃Been there spotted the tiny black line where the element cracked and went open. Not a proper blown.
Zeth another exceptional video, thanks for taking the time to share. Enjoy your videos keep the knowledge coming and definitely look you up at the next one. Stay safe!!
Thanks for another great video ZK. It was most interesting and enjoyable. Great video ZK. The repair items in this video was most interesting. Talk about educational , this was it. The fuse issue was a good one. Never would of thought that the difference in the fuse made that fix. Realize that you don’t want to hurt customers feelings. So I will just say we know where the wrong fuse came from. A case of the owner not understanding the situation. And I would be no different, hey a fuse is a fuse. Know the difference now. Good job ZK. The rods on the brakes. Never knew that would be the fix. Reality simple fix but without the proper background how would you have guessed. Nice fix on the brake rods. Interesting how you figured out the gears on the timing system was bad. Big fix there. With that being their planting tractor can understand needing a quick fix. Not so easy now days with parts and such. Knowing you, it will be up and going soon to the customers satisfaction. I really enjoyed the issues and fixes you presented in this video. Most interesting I must say. A person needs your background and knowledge to fix the situations. Not so easy now days for the owner. You take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks for everything ZK. The Iowa farm boy. Steve.
Another great video thanks for taking the time to let us in and learn about this big beautiful green equipment by the way that 9rx 640 is a bad ass tractor
great video mate! new subscriber here from california. in my area lots of farming too. I never seen an add so well explained. I don't like ads but this one its ok keep up the good work and thanx for sharing
I was up at Atwood picking up a tote mega funnel at atwood a few weeks ago but other than that it's it's been awhile since I bought anything from there. I think all I've got left from there is an 8770, hx15 and a 625, all from Craig who I gather has moved on to bigger things at assumption. My main store is at ashmore. Still, I love the video's and know, we appreciate you guys more than we tell you. I know my "guy, Jeff, " at ashmore has been a godsend to me.
On the fuse, its rare for a 66% rare for a 66% rated fuse to blow. There is GTOLFF (Gregs Theory of Little Flipping fuses is the polite version). I have not seen it on this size, more on 3 amp and below (the sudden spike of current into coils weakens the fuse). If that was true though it would be a common failure across the fleet. And much better to have too small that too big as one guy evacuated a building when a small fuse blew (3 amp) and he replaced it with a big fuse (25 amp as I recall) and then the reason the small fuse blew became evident as the coil burned out and put smoke into the suction side of a building fan! I would get a current reading on that power line to see what its actually drawing. On the brake field expedient would be to drill the old road and put a rubber in it. Dealer not allowed but hint for others!
Do John Deere and CaseIH issue "recalls"? I would think something like this (replacement of brake rods to stop chattering/noise) would fall under that and be "covered" by the manufacturer. Not so?
Awesome video thanks for sharing some one should clean those tractors up better I understand everyone is crazy busy would be better than it burning up just saying have a great day 👍👍
Your explanations at times remind me of Derrick from Vice Grip Garage lol. Don’t know if you watch any Mike Mitchell videos but he was having DEF sensor problems. He was saying how these tractors should have temporary DPF bypasses, does Deere have something like this? Or is it a no comment lol
Fire trucks and diesel ambulance vehicles are the only ones that do not have limp mode if dpf/ scr has active codes. Everyone else must comply with slick willies pollution regs.
One question, when you have what looks like a bull gear bearing failure, can it be traced back to fuel in the oil some time ago like from an injector solenoid cracking? I worked on detroits for many years and almost every bull gear failure was caused by fuel in the basement thined the oil and the chrome flaked off the bearing rollers. The old ntc cummins the chrome would come off the cam and cam followers get into the oil pump pressure plunger and cause low oil pressure.
Do you think that 9RX 640 will be big enough for my 60” Rotary cutter. My 2021 2032 might need to be upgraded. ;) the seat and the cab and air conditioning would be a nice upgrade.
Some wayward drunk wandering into the home of a large gentleman who works for a living, I have no trouble believing that was an error promptly corrected.
I threw him out the back door, clear over the concrete porch and he skidded to a stop with his face on the sidewalk. Then the cops picked him up and took him to jail.
I've got to have a rant here. These machines cost us farmers a fortune. When they break it costs us a fortune...both in repairs, but more importantly in lost time. They are very sophisticated machines with sophisticated software. But either through lazy software programming, or deliberately trying to extort more money out of us, they cannot put in a code that says: " The whole DEF system (or any other system) has lost power...please check the fuse" ??? It just seems such a waste of time and productivity to have to call out a skilled technician like yourself to diagnose a popped fuse! I know a blown fuse is often just a symptom of something deeper...but still. End rant. :-)
Im not big on youtube ads but you did a great job on that one bud. And iv had SimpliSafe for like 7 or 8 years now and it is a really good system. Is that a rain cap on that 9RX??
@@jerryuk93 I work at a dealer ship. We have lots of def related issues. The machines we work on and do warranty are mostly on the def system the machines other wise are pretty solid. If a customer comes in with a failed wheel seal or anything like that you don't always ask them if it's deleted or not.
@@jerryuk93 we also run equipment on our farm and it gets deleted the first time we have trouble. If it keeps working good. If not it gets gutted. Have t need warranty on emissions so farm. Like I said have never bin asked if they our machines were deleted if they need to fix the machine.

I suppose if the fuse continues to blow randomly there might be a wire somewhere shorting. But a quick fix for now.
Exactly, why was it replaced?

Why was the fuse blown originally? Leading to incorrect replacement. Betting you have not seen the last of this unit.
Should of checked current draw at the fuse.
great video as always.. and if we can hear your voice, having a little wind in the background is always a good sound.
Love your videos. Your a great mechanic and a computer guru! Like the security system you have. Thinking about getting this for my home.
Love watching your videos, really enjoy the technical info
Great video! Look forward to updates.

u always make great videos my friend
The 8260 looks like it needs a timing gear set to me.but I am not a John Deere trained tech just an old farmhand and backyard mechanic.

that tractor that you did the scr diag dod, had a lot of corn chaff in that area of those connectors, would that not be a fire hazard? im just curious

They have temporary overrides for diagnostic purposes.
@@ZKMasterTech Gotcha. Didn’t know if one could bypass to be able to run while waiting on parts. But I’d imagine that would still be frowned upon
You can't bypass dpf for very long, she plugs up. SCR on the other hand...

Good video man! Is it true the 9rx 640 from 2023 and forward is gonna come with a John deere engine not a Cummins?
Nice vid!
when making these videos are there certain things John Deere won't allow you to show just curious

Just wondering, how many spare parts do you carry on your service truck. Just the ones you normally have issues with.

Probably not
