    That 640 on the wide tracks, set wide like that, just looks rugged and ready. I've never understood why JD ( series tractors have such a massive power rating drop from engine to PTO compared with most of their competitors. This farmer was very articulate and great to listen to.

    • @lynwessel2471
      @lynwessel2471 7 месяцев назад +2

      What PTO machine needs 550 hp on it?

    • @hemlockoutdoors
      @hemlockoutdoors 7 месяцев назад +5

      It's due to the transmission layout. Many competitors use the transmission input shaft as the PTO live shaft. The 8r series for example have the engine far up, so they use a seperate live shaft for the PTO. The payoff is that you can use a countershaft type powershift transmission, which is generally more efficient at delivering drawbar HP than a planetary type powershift.

    Wonder why they don’t have the colters in the ground.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  7 месяцев назад +2

      Good question. I answer that question at the 7 minute mark in the video when I go over the disk blade specs of the 2132.
      The answer is they are best for corn stalks and soybeans have less residue so they lift them to reduce wear and tear.

  • @hoppercar

    • @bigtractorpower

  • @abitoutofsorts
    @abitoutofsorts 7 месяцев назад

    If it’s only 20 feet wide he’s probably only getting 15 acres an hour. The average probably wasn’t reset to start.
    (Speed*width*efficiency)/8.22=acres per hour
    (6.5*20*.95)/8.22= 15.02

  • @tractorguy100
    @tractorguy100 7 месяцев назад

    Why have the front coulters on there , they are doing absolutely nothing. Not touching the ground…

  • @John-nc4bl
    @John-nc4bl 7 месяцев назад

    I would think that the 9RX could pull a much wider implement than that.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  7 месяцев назад +1

      It all depends on soil conditions. This is working in red clay with lime stones mixed in. The biggest coulter chisel is 33ft but it would not pull through this soil at 12 inches deep. The 33ft does not come with auto reset so the lime stone would break allot of shear bolts.

    • @bigtractorpower
      @bigtractorpower  7 месяцев назад

      Yes it is raised up. I talk about why they raise it at the seven minute mark of this video. The disc are helpful in corn stock tillage but in soybeans they’re so little residue. The discs are not needed so they raise them to reduce wear and tear on the Implement.
