The first time I did that, I had used the 1.2 barrels and I kept pulling at the curls to loosen them but they wouldn’t drop. The curls lasted three days! It is so important to let them cool - tempting as it is to loosen or break up the curl. The only reason I don’t do that anymore is because the curls really shorten my hair. And personally (this may just be me) but I can only use products that are the texture of water with the Dyson. When I use slippy or thicker products, my hair doesn’t take a curl or straighten as well. Sometimes I use no product 😱 and my hair takes the curl best. You have to experiment to what works best for you. I count to only 12 with heat, then 12 on cool. But my hair is not thick and breaks easily. It takes me only 15 min max. I use it only once a week and quickly touch up the ends with my T3 on the other days if I need to. My hair has never looked better. So even if you don’t like a lot of product and you only have 15 minutes you can make it work. If I can do it anyone can!

It’s a lot of work if you want this look so I’m glad she’s showing the whole process. Something to keep in mind . I’m usually in a rush so I just use the blow brush on dyson and then use my wand for the curls. I’m shocked that a nearly $600 product requires you to still do so much to keep the curls , i would consider before buying
I have to wash daily and there is no way I could ever have time for this being a single full time mom (and having to homeschool) and running a full time business...but I can dream of this fancy free life! Ha!
Love all these tips and product recommendations. I do the opposite. My hair is very thin on top and sides and dries very quickly, so I have to Airwrap those first. I start with the top and sides and pin each curl with a metal duck bill clip afterwards. This keeps the top section up and away as I work my hair from top to bottom and it finishes cooling pinned up in its shape and makes them last longer.
I agree that it’s all about the volume. I’ve had mine since Dec ‘19 and it is def a game changer for someone like me who has fine, thin, fragile yet curly hair. It gives me more volume than my salon blowout. It was a life saver for me during lockdown and I haven’t been back to my salon for a blowout since! It paid for itself in 10 blowouts if you look at it like that. 😇 Just the soft smoothing paddle brush attachment would be worth it for me. And I also agree that the cool shot is imperative. I only wish at the time there was an option of the blue one on sale instead of the pink one at full price!

The airwarp is more work than what I’m willing to do. Plus I need something that will get to my roots. I did buy the T3 air brush with the paddle brush and I love it. Love your hair and the video. I may have to try it and see how I like it. 😃
I bought the Dyson last year and…I have to be honest, I don’t love it. Yes, my hair feels sooo soft and it gives me nice volume (ish). But dang it, I got it for the curls. I don’t see anything in their description that says it doesn’t hold the curls (unless I missed something) And like you said, they just don’t stay. I did a video on it last year & by the time the video was done, it looked like I had little beach waves. But I have 2 daughters so we all use it, so the price 🤨😳$$$$ gulp…At least 3 of us are using it. Thanks so much for your tutorial. You are BEAUTIFUL!
Do you use the smaller barrels? The big ones don’t stay at all but the smaller ones turn into loose bouncy curls that stay. They don’t turn out small like you will think at all
@@buggy627 yes. I’ve used it like they state, almost dry, dry, with products, without products. Pin up the curls, leave them alone, spray them….they just don’t stay. But like I said, my girls like it. I do enjoy how my hair feels & the little volume. But I wouldn’t recommend it. Of course this is just my own experience. ❤️

I do a similar thing but with my steam pod but my hair is much more fine than yours so I only do it once a week and I pin each curl after I’ve done a section. I then tip my head upside down after releasing the curls, run my hands through it and spray lightly with hairspray. Your hair is absolutely beautiful and the volume you achieve is stunning, so worth doing to get a result like that!🥰💜

I couldn't agree more I have the dyson supersonic blow dryer that even isn't really that necessary it is a very strong blow dryer straightens my thick hair in no time cuts blowdrying hair in half and I have the the airwrap so mad I didn't get it sooner and I am so in love with it u knock it out of the park once u know how to use it!

I always heard that using cold air helps with getting shiny hair. Something about it flattering sections of the hair shaft (I've explained that in a really bad way🤦🏻♀️) I don't know if it helps, but I keep doing it!🐱

Great review Tara! Sorry if I missed it, do you have thick or thin hair? Naturally straight? Just trying to figure out if the curls will hold for my thick straight, long Asian hair. Going to try that Oribe texture spray! Texture spray is great for prepping and holding curls & waves.
I love mine. But theres dev. A learning curve to make it work best for you. I think its funny how you dont adress ( or maybe dont even realize it ) that you acctualy do one thing that isnt , intended, to be done but in my expierience is absolutely key to get more defined curls vs. just the blow out look. The curling barrels ,suck, and attach your hairstrands by itself. Thats the whole gimmick. But in this video its clear that you just let the tips of your strands attach to the barrels on their own and instead of then just moving the wand closer to your head, letting the airflow do all the wrapping ( how its intended and shown in all the dyson website turorials) you manually turn the wand yourself close to your scalp like you would a traditional curling iron. I found this to be absolutely key in creating more thight curls and thus making them last longer. So i absolutely recommend anyone who has issues with their styles not lasting, to follow this tutorial in every litte detail 👍

@shannyncee I tried the air wrap today at my sister on my curly hair and it came out so bad. Way too puffy. The curls all fell and I look like Tammy Fay. I have a decent amount of hair and it’s about 3a curls. Frizzy. Can you please tell how you use it to get it smooth and not so puffy.
@@codyeve what do you use to rough straighten it ? I used the open blower attachment and than the paddle brushes and than the round brush and my hair was still so frizzy. Than I used the curlers it comes with and my hair looked so puffy and matronly. I wanted to get this so badly so I can use it for a straight look w curls when I don’t want to go natural curly and it’s less damaging than using my curling irons. So after you rough straightened it which attachments did u use ?
@@makeupjunkie723 I use a round brush like the Drybar round ceramic 1st to smooth it ( my brush is a cheapo no name brand, but when I replace it I’m gonna get the Drybar one). I also apply Kérastase Chronologiste Blow-Dry Primer when my hair is wet. Once I’m done then I go through with the long hair .8 barrel Dyson attachment. When I’m finished I apply either a tiny bit of olaplex oil through my ends and slightly up the shaft but avoiding my roots or a bit of verb oil. For reference, my hair is in-between fine and medium, I have a mix of 3a/3b curls and in-between normal/high porosity.

Or are you using just your own brush with the dyson I’m confused by what you said ? Aren’t we supposed to use the dyson on damp hair though ? I really wanted to buy it today w the Sephora sale . I thought it was the answer to my prayers to be able to have a great blowout without the damage since I worked for two years on perfecting my natural curls but if I have to first use another device to blow it out smooth than I’m afraid I’m getting heat damage that’s why I love the dyson so much to diffuse my curls I have the blow dryer and it’s so good on my curls. If you can please just explain again how you are smoothing it out it would help me so much. Thanks !
Hehehe. It's quicker than it seems, but I only wash it every 4 days so I spend about an hour doing it after I wash and it lasts the 4 days. Sometimes I'll redo a few of the curls and such, but most of the time I don't need to mess with it which I'm happy for. 😁🤣

But, I can tell you I'm a level 4, and she adds a little gold to give it a shine. She uses the brand GK, but not sure of the exact color. ❤❤

I livlove the tutorial Tara, unfortunately I don't have the time to do all of the steps you did, and using all those products. I wish there was a faster way and less products used 😪 I have 5 kids and bearly have time to do my hair, I pretty much only have time for either hair or makeup and most of the time I choose makeup and my hair goes up on a bun! I hate that I don't have the time. 😪
My hair is real, bleached and long. That Dyson zap fried my lengths bone dry instantly and my roots were sopping wet :( ...and that was with the dryer pointed at my roots! Sadly not for me
You can buy a longer barrel version for the same price as the original. Edit: meaning when buying the airwrap itself, you can get the longer barrel version so that you don’t spend extra to buy separately
My hair will not hold a curl with this. Hair looks good/volume but it will not hold the curl. I'll try holding it longer. I was only holding it on heat for about 13 seconds. But I do have hair that is hard to hold a curl.
I've gotten so used to it, it takes about an hour, maybe 1:30 but I only do my hair every 3-4 days so I don't mind. No way could I do it every day. I would lose my mind🤣🤣🤣

I always heard that using cold air helps with getting shiny hair. Something about it flattering sections of the hair shaft (I've explained that in a really bad way🤦🏻♀️) I don't know if it helps, but I keep doing it!🐱

I think its funny how you dont adress ( or maybe dont even realize it ) that you acctualy do one thing that isnt , intended, to be done but in my expierience is absolutely key to get more defined curls vs. just the blow out look.
The curling barrels ,suck, and attach your hairstrands by itself. Thats the whole gimmick. But in this video its clear that you just let the tips of your strands attach to the barrels on their own and instead of then just moving the wand closer to your head, letting the airflow do all the wrapping ( how its intended and shown in all the dyson website turorials) you manually turn the wand yourself close to your scalp like you would a traditional curling iron.
I found this to be absolutely key in creating more thight curls and thus making them last longer. So i absolutely recommend anyone who has issues with their styles not lasting, to follow this tutorial in every litte detail 👍

I have the Dyson airwrap and LOVE IT! I WISH that gorgeous velvety blue one was available when I got it. But my hair is very curly and it gives me an amazing pro blowout look. I have to ask, what color do you use for your hair? You have the most amazing brunette color I’ve ever seen!
@shannyncee I tried the air wrap today at my sister on my curly hair and it came out so bad. Way too puffy. The curls all fell and I look like Tammy Fay. I have a decent amount of hair and it’s about 3a curls. Frizzy. Can you please tell how you use it to get it smooth and not so puffy.
@@makeupjunkie723 I rough straighten it first with a round brush. Then I use the airwrap.
@@codyeve what do you use to rough straighten it ? I used the open blower attachment and than the paddle brushes and than the round brush and my hair was still so frizzy. Than I used the curlers it comes with and my hair looked so puffy and matronly. I wanted to get this so badly so I can use it for a straight look w curls when I don’t want to go natural curly and it’s less damaging than using my curling irons. So after you rough straightened it which attachments did u use ?
@@makeupjunkie723 I use a round brush like the Drybar round ceramic 1st to smooth it ( my brush is a cheapo no name brand, but when I replace it I’m gonna get the Drybar one). I also apply Kérastase Chronologiste Blow-Dry Primer when my hair is wet. Once I’m done then I go through with the long hair .8 barrel Dyson attachment. When I’m finished I apply either a tiny bit of olaplex oil through my ends and slightly up the shaft but avoiding my roots or a bit of verb oil. For reference, my hair is in-between fine and medium, I have a mix of 3a/3b curls and in-between normal/high porosity.

Aren’t we supposed to use the dyson on damp hair though ? I really wanted to buy it today w the Sephora sale . I thought it was the answer to my prayers to be able to have a great blowout without the damage since I worked for two years on perfecting my natural curls but if I have to first use another device to blow it out smooth than I’m afraid I’m getting heat damage that’s why I love the dyson so much to diffuse my curls I have the blow dryer and it’s so good on my curls. If you can please just explain again how you are smoothing it out it would help me so much. Thanks !

Hehehe. It's quicker than it seems, but I only wash it every 4 days so I spend about an hour doing it after I wash and it lasts the 4 days. Sometimes I'll redo a few of the curls and such, but most of the time I don't need to mess with it which I'm happy for. 😁🤣

Thank you so much❤❤ the level of depth in my hair is my natural hair color, My stylist is hush hush about what she uses to color my hair lol. She keeps that secret close . Haha. But, I can tell you I'm a level 4, and she adds a little gold to give it a shine. She uses the brand GK, but not sure of the exact color. ❤❤

I livlove the tutorial Tara, unfortunately I don't have the time to do all of the steps you did, and using all those products. I wish there was a faster way and less products used 😪 I have 5 kids and bearly have time to do my hair, I pretty much only have time for either hair or makeup and most of the time I choose makeup and my hair goes up on a bun! I hate that I don't have the time. 😪

My hair is real, bleached and long. That Dyson zap fried my lengths bone dry instantly and my roots were sopping wet :( ...and that was with the dryer pointed at my roots! Sadly not for me

You can buy a longer barrel version for the same price as the original. Edit: meaning when buying the airwrap itself, you can get the longer barrel version so that you don’t spend extra to buy separately

My hair will not hold a curl with this. Hair looks good/volume but it will not hold the curl. I'll try holding it longer. I was only holding it on heat for about 13 seconds. But I do have hair that is hard to hold a curl.
How long does it take to do your hair this way from shower to fully styled?
I've gotten so used to it, it takes about an hour, maybe 1:30 but I only do my hair every 3-4 days so I don't mind. No way could I do it every day. I would lose my mind🤣🤣🤣

It’s from when you mentioned the direction of the arrows on the curler and what they mean for you. I had always thought it was to indicate which side of the head you’re supposed to use the barrels. Freakin’ genius! 🙂🙂🙂🙂
I wish Dyson would sell each component individually, rather than as a kit, so you could just buy the pieces you’d use.
