All these Lestherman alternatives are a blessing to be honest. It benefits the masses at large. Not everybody could afford a Surge but for functionality, both Multiforce and Swiss Tech are equally excellent. Other good alternatives are SOG, NexTool, Bibury and GOAT

I have the same complaint with this sheath as the Leatherman molle sheath. The “hook” half of the velcro is on the flap; so when the flap is open and you draw out the tool, you run your thumb joint up against the equivalent of 40 grit sand paper.

The can opener failed the other day on my 10-month-old MultiForce, before I had gone 1/4th of the way around a lid of green beans! I mostly use it for the blades, pretty light general use.
If you intend to use the can opener, test it first! Make sure it holds up.
The lock release lever for the opener also serves as a backstop for the opener, and it cannot hold its position so the opener forces it up and back. Result is the opener goes back so far you can’t use it, not enough leverage.
I’m also a bit unhappy with the big drivers - the Phillips/flat head bit falls out easily. Drop it and you spend 10 minutes looking for where it went.
Finding out if there’s a warranty on this tomorrow.

@@maxlvledc well, it took a LOT of bugging them, but they offered refund or replace after about 30 minutes. Tried to have me call phone numbers they found online, of which the only one that went to Walmart was their online support only. The others were not Ozark Trail but had similar names. (Beware, OT is a brand name of Walmart’s, and not a division or business entity of its own. No phone number gets you to them.)
Sadly the can opener failure was a deal breaker for my uses. If only it wasn’t needed! The rest of the tool has been great (for pliers, blades, and screwdriver).

I've had mine for about 4 months my swiss+tech. My first full size multi tool. And it can do just about anything I've come across on the go. Word of caution, if you get it wet don't forget to clean/drive out the moisture and lubricate. Not all the metal inside is stainless. I went swimming one day with it on my belt and the next day a few spots in the locking mechanism had already started rusting. But for 35 dollars with shipping this thing is worth the money.

  • @stemill1569
    @stemill1569 Год назад

I would say save up and buy a really good one.
The best multitool is one you can use.
I like the swiss made tools. Not swisstech. They are Chinese. 🤣
I would always go either with a Leatherman or with a Victorinox.
Those China tools for me have the problem that they are quite heavy.
If you want a bulky tool that you at the end carry around in your tool box...then the China tools are good enough.
Victorinox and Leatherman are giving a "lifetime" Guarantee (Victorinox for 80 years but how old you think you will get).
So then you can buy at least 5 tools for the cost of a Leatherman or a Victorinox....depending on the version. That makes sense as the repair process from the guarantee costs you time you won't have your beloved tool with you.
I have mine in my pocket. And I decided about the tool I choose about what tools I want. And at the end I went with the Wave. It has the screwdriver and stuff I need as electrician and it's still ight enough to carry in working pants.
The lighter version of the Victorinox is also still light enough to carry around...for me. But way better made than the Leatherman. Leatherman production is clumsy compared to Victorinox.
At the end...those tools are too heavy for my likings to carry them around all day. And then they are clumsy and bulky. They don't lay well in the hand. So you don't want them to be your main working tool.
For a short time I had such a tool around with me...at the end I decided to walk back to my car and take my tool box instead the cheap multitool. It's different with my leatherman wave. There I wouldn't run back. The tool is good for use.
The pocket from the Walmart tool looks nice. Leatherman pockets are shit. They are always too small to even get the knife easily in. Also a reason why I quickly throw the idea away of carrying the tool on my belt.
It's a funny thing that when looking for a swiss knife you more likely come to swiss tech...made in china, instead of Victorinox.
I myself am a low paid electrician...still learning. That's why I tried the cheaper versions as I noticed when looking at colleagues working how much easier life can get...but at the end investing the money does worth it.
