By the way,
“Unity” became
“Family Reunion” which was released later that same year in 1975 after
“Survival”.
“Unity” was the opening song on the album.
🤣🤣🤣She's Only A Woman. And you can get off on " I Love Music" The O'Jays know they be getting the party started right...
Good days of music Rip William Powell Always will be a O Jay 4 ever
Can I get an AMEN!
My personal favorite O'Jay.
Absolutely. It's bittersweet knowing that he probably was sick then. I was pleasantly startled by the sound of his speaking voice. which was strong and heavy. It belied the incredible range he possessed from high falsetto to 'damn near' baritone low tenor. It is absolutely mind boggling that these guys had incredible ranges and yet was from the same high school. As u said, RIP and my regards to his daughter Kacey.
I love these uploads.
FAMILY REUNION, was released in late 1975 by the O'jays, was originally entitled UNITY. The album title was finalized before its initial release.
SURVIVAL, meanwhile, was released just months earlier with absolute smashes, including the the title song and GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT.
And “Survival” also had
“Let Me Make Love To You” which was written by the late great
Bunny Sigler.
@@jaylene.turner6524 Yes!! An awesome ballad on that album! They did that song on Soul Train, also!
Both albums were recorded in 1974.
Interesting to know that. The ‘Unity’ title does fit the gatefold album cover but Kenny Gamble decided to change it to Family Reunion since it has a stronger reference to it.
@@NathanAHogan it was ‘75. The majority of the PIR artists had 2 albums released in that same year: Billy Paul, MFSB, Harold Melvin, 3 Degrees,
