William Powell - handsome as EVER ! He sung the high - 1st tenor part of the harmony. I met him after a concert and everybody was all over Eddie and Walt trying to get an autograph. But William was way off to the side, leaning against a wall wearing a green hoodie. I don't think anybody recognized it was him. I motioned him to sign my album. He smiled, took my album and signed it. I blushed thanking him, but without reading it - rushed back over to get Eddie & Walt's autograph - but they shut it down. I went home disappointed not getting their autograph. But when I woke up the next morning and read William 's autograph, he wrote :
    " Lovely Lady
    See you in Heaven,
    William Powell ".
Years later when I heard he passed, I cried my eyes out. I tore my album collection Up looking for that album - but couldn't find it. smh

My mom is Eddie Leverts cousin and I was around them a lot when I was a little girl .When they would come to Detroit where Eddie's mom lived my aunt Blanche we would all go over to aunt Blanches house and we would have a ball,I remember Gerald and I used to play together and everyone would meet up in my aunt Blanches basement and Eddie Kendrick and David Ruffun and Lionel Riche were there this particular time and Gerald would put on his dad's records and sing for us and they would pass a hat around and every one would put money in the hat for Gerald every time he would sing one of his daddies songs ! We were trying to start a group with Eddie's sister my cousin Renee cause that girl could sing and so could me and my sister's but it never worked out,wow thank you again, you are doing an awesome job. ! God bless you and please keep these videos coming ! 😊👍

The only time that Eddie and Walter talked about him was on their Unsung episode in 2008.
I have yet to see another interview where they talk about him.
He made a great impact just like they did.
    It’s a shame that he’s overlooked.
The last album that he sang on
was “Message In The Music” which came out in 1976.

I was lucky to see the Ojays in 1975 concert in Oakland, CA when William Powell was still alive. It was a sold out show with Eddie Kendricks, the Dramatics and the Moments. Calling it a great show is an understatement. Anyway, William Powell had a solo part in the song How Time Flies. I saw them again in 1976, when Sammy Strain had joined the group. RIP Brother William.

When Walter Williams sang that line *_I be goin' around tellin all of my friends that I'm leaving naw, and I ain't never goin' nowhere naw naw_* the place erupted! Especially the ladies.
