I just heard that on the radio a few days ago. 🙂

Rest in Paradise Brenda Jones and Valerie Jones. Big ups to Ms. Shirley Jones
It’s crazy how these artist have nothing after making millions for these record companies. They are widely known with hits but end up broke and struggling. Sad
It's almost slavery again. The exe's are sharecropping our people still to this day and the white performers have big mansions, exotic cars, swimming pools, etc.
That's why its best to be independent & own your masters
Mekk Mekk that's how the business nd the industry goes shit just sad 🙄🤦🏽♂️
Their Black People Period
Those are my cousins they're actually doing well at least one the other 2 are no longer with us. Shirley will be here in Dec in concert
I'm telling you. Listen to "NIGHTS OVER EGYPT" on a good stereo system. It'll take you to a whole 'nother place. LOVE THAT SONG!
@Humble Soul You'll *LOVE IT.*
*Sooooo good.*
@Humble Soul Nights Over Egypt is my favorite by them.
Heartfelt and humble thanks to all the fans of Nights Over Egypt. I am co-writer Cynthia Biggs El. Dexter Wansel and I wrote Nights Over Egypt exclusively for the Jones Girls in 1980, and to this day, it is still a fan favorite. It was indeed a tremendous honor working with such a gifted vocal group. This comment is coming after the airing of the Jones Girls episode of Unsung, which aired in May of this year. How disappointed I was that the producers decided not to use Nights Over Egypt as part of the Jones Girls story. Nights Over Egypt was also referenced in the episode as moderately successful for the Jones Girls when their version has been sampled in 29 songs and counting, and has over seven (7) million views on RUclips, thanks to wonderful fans like you. Nights Over Egypt, as recorded by the Jones Girls, has now reached a new generation of fans, which is a testament of not only the longevity of the song, but the greatness of the Jones Girls musical legacy. Thank you for your continued support. Peace and blessings. Cynthia Biggs El. All Rights Reserved.
@@cynthiael5533 Peace to you, dear ma'am!! Your co-composition is one of the best there is.
When you were talking about "Momma and Daddy playin' music all day and all night while playin' cards, drinkin', smokin', cookin', all your cousins was at your house..." It's like you reached into my head and pulled out some of my memories. MAN, those was the days! Back in the 80s? Man, I got Marvin and Tammi singin' "Your Precious Love" in my head so clear right now. If not for listening to you, I'd swear it was playin'!
Good OLE Days, I want it back...Read those groups .....🎛️🔊🎧🔊🎛️

I know right they don't make music like that no more what happened to the music industry we are in the RUclips age where someone can pick up their phone and become a star where everyone sounds the same or they are murdered before 20 years old
They never got the respect they deserve...thank you for this episode
why is that the case ?
You should do a segment on The Pointer Sisters. That would be really good!
I would like to see The Pointer sister as well.
That would be really good
Yes Rita he should.
I was just about to say that
@@Kikyolover9 I know and sister sledge.
For me The Jones Girls were my ultimate favorite girl group of all time. I will never forget seeing them at a night club in San Francisco in the early 80's. They're harmonies were unmatched.
The music industry got rid of R&B music because they don't want us loving each other. It's part of the bigger conspiracy to destroy the black family.
I agree
Facts
ABSOLUTELY
So true
The statement that you made has so much merit. What we as a people have to realize is that everything with regards to us happens for a reason; for the most part to our detriment. Take into account when this transformation occurred to develop an understanding of why it occurred. It is there that you will always find your answer.

Unsung did a job on the Jones Girls but so did Celebrity Underrated.
Unsung Shirley said Valorie had the drinking problem and Brenda had the pill problem
Sorry to hear about the two sisters who passed!!😥😢 Keep their loved ones in prayer🙏🙏 I knew they can hit them high notes!!!🎼🎵🎶
This story had me in tears.. I been a fan for decades.. I'm still a serious vinyl head.. Shirley Jones keep on pushing love 🙏🙏🙏👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿

I’m only 43 but since I can remember as a kid I fell in love with dance turned into a romance. That opening part though. How it blends in the beat oh my goodness! TILL THIS DAY!! Pure angelic sound 🥰
RIP to Valerie and Brenda Jones, and I pray that Shirley continues doing what she loves.

This is why Bruno Mars is doing such a phenomenal job along with his group and Silk Sonic to bring back the old school R&B music......

Lol But Unsung didn't even play "Nights over Egypt" and "Who can I run to"

@@strauqq1 Thank you for that Mooky. And you answer your own question they killed R&B on purpose
Because they took it over watered it down and called it pop

These women were arguably the best R&B group from the 70's and the 80's. They rivaled The Emotions as having the best voices on wax back in the day, and my personal favorite by/from them is/was their 1984 song, "Ah Ah Ah Ah", which was led by Valorie, who is/was my favorite sister, she was a gorgeous woman. These women could sing birds out of the trees, they were born to do it. May Brenda and Valorie R.I.P. forever...
