Written by Gamble and Huff, very great underrated producers. My all time favorite song by the Ojays. Had forgot about it years ago but watching Carlitos Way got me back listening to it again.
Played this constantly in 76, one day my mother came home from shopping and told me she accidentally stepped on the 45 whilst cleaning my bedroom and broke the single, she went out and bought me another copy, and I still have it (we are now in August 2023) ❤️
Yep...me too. Me and my 3 siblings ages 7, 10 , and 12 all dancing in front of the TV trying to mimic the dancers. My parents got a kick out of it too. I miss the 70's :(
Dick Clark also! Soul train was on fire! In 74 I saw Temptations, the Spinners,Ricky Nelson perform in Florida. They were fantastic! Never forget there colorful outfits that matched each other. These guys have the soul and the dance moves.Love the O'Jays! 70-80s music was great!
Saturdays in the 70s, Soul Train and Bandstand!!! Dancin' around the family room amd didn't leave the house until they over. Great shows, great times!!!! ✌❤
Those were the days! This song just puts me in a good mood. I can play this song over and over again, and I will never tire of it. So many memories. Such a wonderful groove. Such a wonderful sound. Love the O'Jays!
Man these were some sangin' and dancing men. They are currently doing their retirement tour!!! Don't leave us guys!! At least we have RUclips to help us to continue to reminisce for the rest of our days!! I Love you!!!
I was born in 1988 and I listen to this kind of music. There’s a nostalgia to it … kinda feel like things used to be so much better and now everything sucks
Today is Walter Williams 80rh birthday!!! He still killing this song today and still looking good doing it at 80 years old!!!Happy birthday sir you make 80 look good!!❤🎉🎶💃🏽😍🎼
A very rare live vocal on Soul Train singing over a backing track and prerecorded backing vocals. The O'Jays at their peak. For me this is one of the greatest dance records of the 70s- it was No1 on the Billboard Disco Chart longer than any other record in the history of the chart. ICONIC!
Listening to this on September 6th, 2024, it still hits on the same level as when it was released. The Choreography and singing are a complete package!
This is my older brothers music and what I learned to listen to and other favs. Since I slept in the same room and what we listened to in his car to my school or wherever. Loved him and his music. Rip brother.🙏

Can we please give it up to the great choreographer Cholly Atkins! He had The Ojay’s on point with the steps! Eddie, Walter & Sammy always make it do what it do! Respect kings!🤴🏽🤴🏽🤴🏽👏🎶❤️💯
There's something about this song, i cant pinpoint it the lead vocals, the harmonies, the musical arrangement, the energy, the smoothness, the happiness all superb.
Talk about doing it really "Live" on Soul Train. The true definition of Soul Music. As we continue on celebrating 50 years of Philadelphia International Records. Thank you Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff. 🎶🎶💯💯 ❤🖤💚
@@juniorvazquez9000 ~Yes from the very, very best music in the world with the O’Jays, I Love Music . Then it all went down hill to low life total sh!t with diarrhea c’RAP’ trash talk chanting that is way, way over and over repeating with no heart & soul!
The Mighty Mighty O'Jays, singing live! I had to stop and restart this one. Turned the bass up and made it full screen. From the opening bongo drum, this song was top ten in my life. O'Jays are top three. I remember the first 45 I purchased was "Back Stabbers." Those voices, the musicians and the musical arrangement, too much. With "I Love Music" the O'Jays gave us a whole lot of R&B Soul to go with our disco, and MFSB was kicking it like love is the message or something. I could never sit down on this one. "I Love Music" always made me dance in happiness, so give me a little room on the floor. Such a clean and uplifting song to everyone. ♫♪ "Music is the healing force of the world. They don’t make them like this anymore. After all these years they still sound good and even much better than what’s playing today. Top quality and not quantity. These type of music don’t just fade away. No matter how many decades pass and you play them they still live on.

Great remastery of the "soft" sound from the original series. Woke stuff like Taylor Swift is louder than these disco classics, so I'm glad this and others have been restored to the same volume.
I've always loved the sounds and moves of the Mighty, Mighty O'Jays. Despite only three, they sound so rich, as if there were more voices. Their line-up, though, fascinates me for some reason in that Eddie LeVert and Walter Williams always alternate singing in a song (which works beautifully), while flanking the middle fellow who is never heard solo 🤔
William Powell had already left the group due to illness. He would pass away the following year. He probably did sing on the background vocal tracks that are heard on the playback.
Yes sir. William did sing background on this, and he was on the follow-up album “Message In Our Music”. Sammy just toured in his place. After William’s death in 1977, Sammy fully replaced him,and debuted on the album “Traveling At The Speed Of Thought” released that same year.
A few artists like the O’Jays were able to sing for real, but Sammy Strain lip-synced to William Powell’s vocals because he got sick with colon cancer combined with a bad drug addiction.
