- This is a tribute video to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton that focus on their movie "The Sandpiper" from 1965. It's set to the song "The Shadow of your smile" that was the love theme in the movie. :)
I've edited together the versions by Vic Damone and Shirley Bassey.
I had the privilege of meeting Miss Taylor when I was 20 years old...her beauty would leave you stunned. I will remember it the rest of my life!

Andy Williams has all male singers beat on this song. Intonation, voicing and interpretation. I am in awe of his delivery without dramatic antics his voice does all the work needed to portray this song.

from Karin Schill. It is a masterpiece,
and the voice of Vic Damone especially is superb, the timing of his version is absolutely unique
and gives the character of the rumba rhythm. And the loving pictures are a deep experience to watch. Shirley Bassey,
Tony Bennet, Barbara Streissand, and the rest DO NOT have Damone´s UNIQUE rumba rhythm and dynamic hesitant tempo,
in their versions of the song. The whole package of Karin Schill´s video is unique. This is genuine rumba, and love.

Absolutely. Truly, one of the most beautiful songs, from a beautiful movie I also never tire of watching.
And a very good, well done splicing of Shirley & Vic. Splicing often doesn't work well or ruins the experience but this is so good, especially noting the differing 'turns' of the singers at very end - which was unexpected but very very good. Thank you for spreading 'all the joy this song can bring...'

It's so true. Movies outlasts us all. People are frozen in time in them. This movie is just wonderful. It was made long before I was even born but I love it. :)

She was so classically beautiful not like the clone “beauties” of today. Gorgeous music with orchestral accompaniment to back truly great singers. Fancy that how you can actually understand the lyrics. How romantic an era. Now it’s all about twirling and crass behavior, foul language. Take me back please.

It must have been a Great movie, one I failed to see as I was too busy studying at UCLA then. But if I ever get the chance I shall watch it. Both Lyz Taylor and Richard Burton were great actors and lovers. I liked to see their films. And the movie theme is very well made too so there is joy in hearing and watching.
Thank you for watching my video. I can recommend you to watch "The Sandpiper". It's an underrated movie filmed at a really beautiful location. Elizabeth & Richard's chemistry was great. The plot is a little thin but it's ok as their acting makes up for it.

Beautifully edited, re one of the greatest but turbulent love stories in history, Elizabeth and Richard, but the venue makes the film! Big Sur's stunning scenery, with the two lovers -- divine!
I was fortunate enough to live through those tumultuous love affairs had between Taylor and Burton. It was so bloody CHIC ...... I hope they've found one another in heaven in sublime peace and love.

Yeah it's one of my favorite movies. I can watch it over and over. I remember watching it with a friend some 10 years ago and she wondered where the sequel was! Sadly there was none

Dear Karin, Your posts on Liz & Burton are wonderful. You had the happiness of choosing magic moments from this wonderful unforgettable couple. They are moments, not interpreted, but of pure passion. It is the representation of a movie scene, but this scene is a real passion, it is not the interpretation of a script. I can not understand how life can truncate a passion of this magnitude.
