I thinks it’s an atrocity to even box these guys up as “djent”. They’re way beyond that. They’re tesseract. Their own sub-genre of groove prog-metal.

I love how the djent is less of a focal point in this album but rather supports the vocals and overall presentation. Not that djenting is a bad thing.. love all their albums
I didn't even think about it until you mentioned it! It has its moments in the spotlight, but it's absolutely more of a supportive role in the best way possible. Goes to show how well djent works in different songs!

☺ the opening riff + melody is the perfect way to start the 2nd song of an album, so they did great on the song order front 😎 I remember feeling so pumped for the ride to come, when I heard this for the first time after the slower long-note ending of Natural Disaster

@mikedown1250 Don't know how much you know about the concept the whole album is about. Have you played the game on Steam? I'll try to explain my interpretation.
War of Being is the battle within ourselves that never ends, in our minds. Between who we are, who we want to be, who we were forced to become... The whole concept plays out in the human mind, between our different "inner voices", our inner child, our fears, our knowledge, doubts, hope.. The labyrinth we've seen in the album art is the human mind. In the middle of the labyrinth is truth, our true self, guarded by fear (the legions of samurais).
Starting with feeling like a "natural disaster" - hopeless, frightened, confused. Then comes the "Echoes" of who we once were, our true self, trying to guide us on the right path, but we lie to ourselves, we do everything to numb the pain, use fate as an excuse/explanation for what we choose in life, the path we nailed ourselves to. The Scribe (androgynous character in the video for the title track) who writes in red ink is Fate, drawing the fatal lines.
To get through to our real self we need to tear the mask away (the title track), stop lying to ourselves and others, accept ourselves, collect knowledge (elevate my understanding) and battle our fears and find our truth.

Definitely not. If you know the singer's style you can tell.
No. AI typically has really basic rhyming schemes and doesn't care about rhythm or deeper meaning at all.
You got SOFTER....and softer....and softer....and softer....and softer....and softer....and softer ..............and so less technical ........
Well they've always had that progressive element to it. Not every song has to be heavy or all fry vocals. If they did that then they wouldn't stand out because 99% of the other djent/metalcore bands are all doing the same sh*t. RATIO
Get back into your box. This is peak Tesseract if you've listened to the whole album!

Frontman Daniel Tompkins says, "The concept of "Echoes" is based around one of our main characters, 'El' and 'The Scribe.' They play a major part in the concept and game as The Scribe is a splintered part of El's ego that has the ability to control destiny and rewrite the past."
He continues, "This has always been a hard-hitting song and it adds a real dynamic to the album. As a stand-alone track, it exudes feelings from the heights of euphoria but also the depths of desperation. There's a real sense of frustration and regret throughout, especially as the song climaxes with its brutal admission."
