    I actually had no intention of getting this one, then I decided to order it during the Sephora sale. I really love this one! I had none of the issues you experienced. Not even fallout…a tiny bit with a few of the mattes. I’ve used it 3 times now and my looks get better each time! I’m so sorry this is disappointing for you. I’ve had that happen too and it always makes me sad.

      I am so glad this is working for you! It is such a lovely palette that you can see how disappointed I was that I was struggling with it so I'm glad that is not everyone's experience! I can say that as I continue to work with it, I can get really nice looks as long as I don't try mixing too many of the colors all at once and stick to a crease shade & subtle shimmer in the middle.

      Absolutely! If it weren’t so expensive I’d say go ahead but for the price, I’d rather have several other things that perform better I think. I just got some Viseart palettes that are on sale but pretty expensive and the way those perform is amazing in comparison so I feel like those are worth it…you know something you reach for when you want the colors and shimmers to pop. Hard to reach for a $69 palette when the best you can do with it are muddy or more simple faded everyday looks. 😬 I do use that cream black shadow as liner most days though so at least I use that!😂

    Glad I came across your review. Never owned a HD palette but the color story of this palette caught my eye but still was a bit on the defence.
    Most reviews dont do a wear time test, so it may look great on application but how does it wear in 6, 8 or 10 hours.
    I dont often wear eyeshadow and have tried several brands and have found that ND formulas and colors are (at this moment) my favs

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  11 месяцев назад +1

      I’m so glad to be helpful! I buy most of these palettes myself so if I’m feeling a bit ‘ripped off’ I definitely want to warn others to the issues I found with something. 😉 I also really like to wear it for a week or so before I give my thoughts so I can get that full experience with it and try different looks etc. I agree with you on ND palettes. They are just solid and classy for everyday and for special looks. I also really like Viseart and find them similar to ND in quality and color palettes but it’s best to catch them on sale because they are spendy.

    I haven't bought eyeshadow palettes in like 2 years bc I barely wear it anymore -just put a liquid blush on my crease and some dab lumi glow to highlight the brow bone and inner corners but I liked the honest review!

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  Год назад +1

      Yep, my every day look is definitely more like yours, something simple in the crease with a swipe of shimmer on the inner corner and lid and some liner and mascara but the artist in me loves these color palettes to play with...unless they cost an arm and a leg and I feel like people should save their $! ;-)

  • @jyotikaurlove
    @jyotikaurlove Год назад +2

    I used the palette twice and the looks came out really pretty but I did not check to see how they wore so not sure if they got muddy later. Also, I placed the mattes in the outer corner only so most of my looks were shimmer heavy. But very interesting video. I am definitely going to analyze my next look a bit more.

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  Год назад

      I've been playing with it more and it definitely works better the way you used it, shimmers in the middle, one or two mattes in the crease and on the outside, still fades a bit but is really pretty that way. I think where I got into trouble was trying to blend a bunch of the darker mattes in a gradient over and next to each other which just ended up muddy and then lots of fallout because it's a powdery formula that doesn't stick to itself and build, too much and it just falls off.

  • @addangel

    I have this palette and I absolutely love it. I wonder if the primer is not what’s causing some of the issues for you. I couldn’t get the P. Louise ones to work for me - way too tacky, creased like crazy and made my shadows stick in one spot and be really hard to blend.

    • @bethong910
      @bethong910 Год назад +1

      I also don’t use the P. Louise primer. Had the same experience with it!

    • @addangel
      @addangel Год назад +1

      @@bethong910 I think it was the quintessential primer for those 2016 super heavy eye looks because it’s tacky and high coverage, so it works for cutting the crease and makes eyeshadow pop, but it’s not really blending (or regular makeup user) friendly

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  Год назад +1

      So that's really interesting on the plouise...I've been having a little more creasing lately since I switched to it and I just assumed it was my old a** eyelids 🤣 looks like I need to experiment again with some of my other primers. I haven't been finding it too thick or tacky but I do get a little line right in the crease sometimes esp. with darker shadows.

    I'm glad I came across your channel and this video in particular. I'd just seen a video where the MUA was using this for the first time & loved it. But I like you really don't like heavy fallout & that "muddy" issue is worrisome..

    Yeah I saw the palette on Robert Welsh’ channel, and I used to be an emo guy. So I HAD to buy this. I got a huda palette before and yes, the mattes are amazing.
    I think you could try to use that yellowy/warm shade to create a neutral look maybe, by layering warm and cool.
    People like the palette mostly for versatility, it having both cool and warm shades. I havent had time to play with it yet, but I will look at the points of critique you mentioned. Thank you ❤. A palette is never perfect and any critique helps.

      Yes! I always want to hear what to expect in reality out of an expensive palette myself..definitely no such thing as a perfect palette for everyone. ;-) I have found using this one more that it is good for everyday looks where you stick to one mid crease color, a darker corner color with shimmer in the middle (still benefits from glitter glue to get full shine but I'm extra like that)...just don't know that you gotta spend $69 for those kinda looks ya know? ;-)

    IMHO, and just to clarify: I' m talking exclusively about the product, personally none of them are my cuppa at all, Jeffrey' s shadows can be a "meh🙄, I don' t see the hype" swatched on the inner forearm but once you work on the lid, OMG😍. Huda's swatch heavenly on the inner forearm but then they don' t behave as expected on the lids and easily end up looking the same. Not to talk about longevity. (MUA here). 🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

      @redgirlreviews  Год назад +1

      🤣 well you can see how torn I am because this color story is sooo pretty, just having difficulty with making it pop on my eyes...grungy for sure though! It is so different from xenon. Xenon is really cool to have in your collection because it is so different from just about everything else you're gonna have but this Huda one is way more wearable every day I think. The more I wear it, the more I think I like it for the lighter crease shades with a pop of shimmer in the middle & I'm using the hell outta that black cream shade for liner since it's so easy to make a wing with. I think if you don't mind spending the $ it is a nice palette to have but I definitely see a lot of similar shades in other palettes I already have. ;-)

      I think you’re right as I’ve since had way more luck sticking with 3 colors as well 👍🏻 it really is such a beautiful collection of colors and the shimmers are beautiful as long as you use a bit of glitter glue to emphasize it…but I really like my shimmers obnoxiously glittery 😂

      @redgirlreviews  Год назад +1

      This is my first one of this size so I'm not too familiar although I still really want rose quartz...If you like this formula I actually am finding that I can get some really nice looks out of the subtle shimmers mixed with the midtone to lighter shades in the crease so it's still actually really good for that. It just doesn't work well for me when I try to add in 5 different shades together on the lid esp. the darker ones I think.

    • @redgirlreviews
      @redgirlreviews  Год назад

      I know, that's why I was sort of questioning...a few commenters have had the same experience as me so I'm not totally alone but I haven't seen other channels say much. My final thought is that it is a bit of a powdery formula so if you layer too much of it like I like to do, it ends up mixing together and looking muddy rather than distinct colors and then the powder build up just falls right off your eyes. For the price, in my opinion, you might as well get some of those cheaper alternatives if you really like the colors...the formula is nothing special to me, just a lot of pretty colors all in one palette.

    All I see is that the shade heroine is the color of heroin and I think thats a bit distasteful, since people die from that addiction. And since the heroine chic was heavily associated with grunge, I doubt it’s a coincidence.

      I’ve heard from a lot of people that they really like this palette esp if you keep the looks a little more simple than I was trying to do with it so you’ll probably still really enjoy it if you like the colors which are definitely so pretty! I still use that cream black shadow as liner all the time too so don’t let me ruin it for you if you were excited to get it. I’m sure you’ll still really like it as I’m nitpicking because I spend 100’s of dollars on palettes every month and expect a lot out of the expensive ones compared to all the others. 😉
