I am Japanese. The new Rurouni Kenshin is very beautiful, and the 1996 version was also described as the best anime of its time, and the drawings are beautiful even today. If you have the chance, please take a look at the 1996 edition as well.
This episode was so amazing the tone/atmosphere was great, the animation/sword fighting was so clean and precise. Jine may have only been in two episode but he made such a huge impact to not just us but to Kenshin as well (especially with him saying you are a manslayer until the day you die) I'm loving this Remake so much now Rurouni Kenshin really starts now.
The one line Kenshin said to Kurogasa was so badass
"Now that I've said that I'll kill you, your death is absolute"
Line gave me chills 😱

This was my favorite episode so far. I don't know much about this series, but I did remember reading this part of the manga some time ago. The anime did a really great job with it. I'm glad Kaoru broke the "spell" and helped Kenshin stay on a better path in life.

@@alexandreazevedo9906 I wasn't too worried about the battles so far because nothing has really happened yet. In comparing to the original anime though, I like how all the battle scenes have happened so far much more in the new version!
This episode was sooooo gooooood 🔥🔥🔥🔥, the tone and tension was even more so than the original 90's version which I still love up to this day, this took it to another level, an believe me when I say it's going to keep getting better and from seeing this episode alone I have alot of faith hopeing the ost eventually goes similar to the original eventually. This episode once again proved to me this remake is going to be awesome. Kurogasa, for the fans, is the first "real glimpse" of Kenshin as he was before. And yet, Kurogasa arc is quite unimportant in the show. I cant wait for my two favorite characters that are going to arrive soon in two separate arcs... the Okashira and the Wolf of Mibu.

Some people are gonna hate but after seeing the Sanosuke and this fight here it's actually better than the original. And the sword fights on this are actually better. I'm saying this and Rurouni Kenshin used to be my favorite anime.
I watch the original in the 90's and it is still the best series ever in my book...this Kurogasa fight was fire!!!
The Sano fight on the other hand let me down, but lets gooo

Jine alway knew how it will end, he lived by the sword and died by it. Still probably one of my favorite moments from the manga was the final battle between these two Hitokiri and it has been adopted quite well. Next up is an arc that top you are going to enjoy, and if anything like the manag and 96 anime is going to be quite a bit longer than previous arcs.

There were 2 reasons Kurogasa killed himself. 1 was Kenshin completely severed the tendons in his dominant sword arm. The only way to fix that is with surgery and in the meiji Era that's not possible as far as I know. 2 was that somebody in the government was hiring Kurogasa and he knew that he'd be sent to prison for it and he thought that would be boring.
Yet another victim of the times. He got a taste for killing and couldn't stop. People like him were probably more common that people realize
This was a great episode! Seeing Kenshin revert back momentarily to his former self really gives us an idea of how menacing he was. Thanks for the great review as always Michael 😊. By the way, have you ever seen Link Click? It's a really good show.

Ruorin Kenshin is slapping thus far. It's a really good remake thus far. Enjoying the charachters and the animation of the fights. The studio is doing a really good job and the anime is pretty good thus far.

Also that tone shift when Kenshin went into serious killing mode was so good. The VA is nailing the chrachter.

@@inspirationalflight1638 yeah... I think this will grow over time. Unfortunately it's airing in a season where a lot of big series are airing and fall isn't going to help that either. So probably sometime when S2 arrives it's going to be more popular I assume.

I know right, Kenshin the GOAT🔥🔥🔥 been waiting over 2 decades for a reboot, i could be wrong but i suspect they are pacing the show don't want to give to much awesomeness to early and leaving it for the more epic battles, I'm hoping they to the eye thing , don't want to spoil for anyone , but for when a certain person a blue outfit appears lol

A manslayer is a manslayer until the day he dies. That's identical here and the original. What's not identical is that in the original Kenshin's eyes go green when he gets into hitokiri / manslayer mode, to help out a clueless guy.😅

Suppressing something for a long time usually leads to an eruption at I'm thinking he'll lose it at some point
I had been saying for years that Rurouni Kenshin was the series most deserving of a 'Brotherhood' remake treatment since the original FMA anime also deviated heavily from the manga.
I heard the VAs were at Anime Expo 2023 and had mentioned to 'look forward to Episode 7'. My speculation was that it'd be the Jine fight which, if you recall the original anime's fight, was HORRIBLE with still-screen facial close-ups and weak sword clashing SFXs.
Until now, the best version of the Jine fight would probably be the live-action movie version, but this...this is WAY better than I ever would have expected it to be. The best touches would have to be 1) ACTUAL fighting, 2) Kenshin's murderous expression, and 3) the time slowdown on his Battoujutsu.
It's a great time to be alive right now.

@@MichaelAngeloMAN Oda was also Kenshin's Mangaka's assistant at the time, and it seems to me that the technique exists. Also, when you compare their drawing styles, you can see that in the beginning there was some simillarity in the drawing, especially in the eyes.
