42:40 Technically, more like Zoro is channeling what Kenshin did, as Zoro was made by Oda with Kenshin as an inspiration. Reminder Oda was a student/assistant under Watsuki, and even contributed to the RK manga which released way before One Piece one.
The VA of *Hajime Saito is SATOSHI HINO*. He was also the VA for *Rengoku (DEMON SLAYER), Sai (NARUTO, NARUTO SHIPPUDEN), Noritoshi Kamo (JUJUTSU KAISEN), Kiyomasa (TOKYO REVENGERS), Willibald (VINLAND SAGA), Daichi (HAIKYUU!!) Momonga (OVERLOAD), Gauche Adlai (BLACK CLOVER), Kamui (GINTAMA)* and many more.....
Epic episode, I loved everything, the fight, the colors, the drawings, the voice cast, my God Souma Saito took it to the next level! 🧎. Prepare for next season man, this fight was only the prelude , what is coming is INSANE! 🔥
Basically Saito's role in the Shinsengumi, plus being a Division Captain, was handling traitors and deserters. Anyone who betrayed the samurai code should face the shame of it and bring no dishonor to the Shinsengumi. Had the person refused to face the consequences of his act, Saito came. And bring justice with his blade. I read a whole series of history book about them, and they were frigging scared of him. A lot of the members became sober because they feared of doing something stupid that would bring Saito to exert punishment on them....
I appreciate your reaction about RurouniKenshin. I’m so glad! 56:42 Toshimichi Okubo was one of the Three Great Nobles of the Restoration regarded as the main founders of modern Japan. He also often appears in school text books of Japanese history. Kawaji(Toshiyoshi Kawaji) was the founder of Japan's modern police system. He is called 'Father of Japanese Police' in Japan. There are bronze statues of Okubo and Kawaji in the Kagoshima Prefecture.
To add other two of the Three Great Nobles of the Restoration were Katsura Kogoro/Kido Takayoshi who died to illness a year before Kenshin arrived in Tokyo and Saigo Takamori who died leading Satsuma rebellion shortly before story began.
This series is amazing. I love it. It's been a long time since I've watched it. Kenshin is no joke especially once he gets going. Awesome reaction bro 🔥
I loved this last episode. I can't choose which is better, this one or the classic, as they both have different good things. In particular, I loved Kenshin's change of tone and Kaoro's screams were insane, I got goosebumps.
Although not a direct descendant, a descendant of Hijikata Toshizo, the second-in-command of the Shinsengumi, is still alive, and his family home still has some of his belongings and weapons on display. The exhibition hall is closed now because there are too many visitors for individuals to handle, but they are holding Shinsengumi related events and performances. Incidentally, Sanosuke's model is Sanosuke Harada, captain of the Tenth Unit. 28:09He's the one with the spear and the grass in his mouth.
Let me explain some of 42:13. The Shinsengumi was originally a collection of roughnecks who were skilled with swords and used to protect public order in Kyoto, where there was a government organization in the past. However, since they were originally roughnecks, many laws were created to bind them. And Hajime Saito was purging (assassinating) those who violated it. Adding more information, most of this is historical fact.
The Saito episodes marks the end of the "Introduction" of Kenshin. You know now the "core" characters and behaviours, attitudes, habits, places. Saito marks the beginning of the first "major" arc that will last longer than this whole season. Season 2 will be MUCH better. I enjoy this remake, I cant wait to see some of the characters that will appear in this arc. And the Saito battle is the first of standard battles from now on. Small fries are over.
A small detail I think a lot of people miss, mostly due to a language barrier, is that Kenshin almost always uses the term 'Sesha' when speaking. Now I'm by no means a fluent speaker of Japanese, but I am at least somewhat familiar with the linguistic meaning of Kenshin's specific term he uses. Sesha is essentially a somewhat archaic and very formal way of referring to one's self, and if I recall correctly it more or less translates to 'This one' or 'this unworthy one'. Kenshin using that term is basically him being super formal and quite submissive in his manner. So, in this scene, when Kenshin suddenly shifts from using 'sesha' to using 'Ore', it's a VERY big indicator that his mindset has shifted... and it's exactly the reason why Kaoru suddenly looks very distraught, because she's familiar with Kenshin and his usage of sesha, so for him to suddenly shift to using the much less formal and more basic ore is a huge indicator to her that Kenshin has indeed slipped back into his hitokiri mindset.
Well worth the wait I suppose, I believe everyone in the comments could fill in more gaps. Still Saito was is what history considers the among strongest members of the Shinsengumi, the first three division captains were renowned as legends. Saito was considered the third strongest but what was considered to be even more impressive is that the second strongest Okita Souji was crippled with turberculosis during his time in service yet was considered one of the strongest. Still Saito and Kenshin clashed quite a bit during the revolution and how you saw in their battle their ferocity towards each other. Honestly it was what I was looking forward the most towards in this anime. Impressive, but honestly I feel like the 96 anime handled it better. It held more weight in their actions and perhaps a little bit more tense, yet still quite a battle. One more episode left the season, if anything like the 96 anime it is going to be one heck of a way to finish this season.
Was wondering where your Kenshin reactions are were, yay welcome back so glad you enjoyed Saitoh 🐺 he's awesome, if you enjoyed this version you so need to see the original, it had awesome lightning like a real show down and the music oh the sweet original music you could feel the tension and the emotions, think of this also if kenshin sword was normal the attack when he finally hit him would have taken of his head. If you like the hand to hand in original his fight with Sano was actual longer he licked the sword before the attack and when he broke him through the wall Sano said you don't have a sword now but he blocked Sano's attack and slammed him on the floor, you should check out original you would love it👌🏽
Things most viewers don’t understand: Jine, narrative wise, was all meant to foreshadow the return of Saito. Remember Jine’s words “an assassin is an assassin until the day he dies. He can never be anything else.” Kenshin left that battle believing that he was strong enough to protect whoever he needed to protect. Then Saito destroyed Kenshin’s delusion by proving his philosophy really did make him weaker, and he cannot actually protect those he cares about. This is Kenshin’s fundamental existential crisis that is the most important plot development in the entire show.
Kenshin vs Saito looked great and was amazing , I'd def say u should check out the original fight between them from the 90s anime version! It's just as good if not possibly better bc its the og 😁
Kenshin vs Saito's battle in the previous adaptation was artistic. This adaptation goes crazy from time to time. But I will definitely recommend anyone to watch the previous adaptation of this fight anyday, even after putting aside the nostalgia value.
If you have time you should check out the original version of this fight it’s less censored and has better music. You have to get the original toonami dub not the one on Hulu Kenshin is one of the few anime’s that I prefer the original dub vs the sub
The only edge Saito has over Himura is his Hakuda fighting style. The fight would have ended if Himura wasn't using a Sakabatou. His Gatotsu has just 3 or 4 movesets, which is a far cry to Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu with several techniques. New enemy is around already...
There's only one way to truly find out how Kenshin got his cross shaped scar: watch one of the best OVA ever made: "Rurouni Kenshin: Trust and Betrayal" the before. But not "Rurouni Kenshin: Seiso Hen" OVA, that is the after, so that one only after the series. PS: This Spanish guy is acted by Kisuke Urahara, quite obvious to me.😅 PS**: The Hajime Saito fight is pretty similar with the original, but the original has a better panic moment for Kaouru when she tries to reach Kenshin in slow motion in her mind. But small details to be sure, about the same thing in both versions.
I think we will get a new adaptation of those events that were in the OVA Trust & Betrayal since all of it is from the last manga Arc that was not adapted in the OG Anime: The Jinchu Arc. And it was not even the whole arc, just Kenshin explaining his past to everyone so they knew who the new & final enemy was 😅
If you realy want to know how he got his scar you should watch the OVA known as trust and betrayal but if you do watch it you should make it a reaction video because that ova was a masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥
