I have been looking for EXACTLY this information for months. I've watched lots of videos but none were exactly what I was looking for until NOW! Thank you so much for making this video.
I have to add to my first comment. I decided to watch the longarm portion of your video too. You have added so many helpful tips just on quilting and sewing. I especially liked your marking the quarter inch from the valley (indented part of the point). You really are an excellent teacher!
1 st. time watching full video, ❤LOVE❤ your teaching style, slow and with ALL the extra's to make a perfect piece. I love Dresdens. I really want to make this for my tree this year.❤
I’m so very grateful to you for watching and I’m glad you are here! 😊 Your input is very helpful and I appreciate your kindness. I love Dresden’s too ❤️ Happy sewing with your tree skirt and please let me know if you have any questions. 😄🫶🏼😍
Hello and thank you for your question. 😊 When I first started creating with Dresdens, I didn’t know there were different degrees either! I did a Google search for Dresden rulers and hit the images tab. You should be able to find the one that looks like yours. I can tell you that most standard Dresden rulers are the 18° size. I hope this helps! 😁❤️🫶🏼
Thank you so much! I’m glad it was helpful! I appreciate your feedback about the close up shots. I always wonder if they’re helpful. All the best to you! 😄❤️😊🫶🏼
You are an excellent teacher, I have made many tree skirts over the years and I love yours. I am a new subscriber, looking forward to seeing a lot more of what you have to offer.
Hello and welcome to my channel! I am so glad you are here! 🤗 Thank you for your kindness and I look forward to creating and teaching here. I appreciate you! ❤️😍🎄☺️
Doo hickie!!! Such and underrated saying ❤. Great tutorial. I agree someone needs to collaborate with you to make a larger ruler. I would for sure buy one.
Lol! 😂 Funny how my mind stopped and Doo Hickie is what came out! 🤣 I appreciate your kindness and I hope I do hear from someone about the ruler! ❤️ Thank you for being here. 🤗 All the best to you! 🫶🏼
I love your tree skirts. I have the Clover Trace'N Create quilt Dresden plate template by Nancy Zieman. It ranges in sizes from 6" to 40" but if you wanted the blades longer I don't see why they can't be extended another couple of inches. I love it. I have a round table and there aren't any circular table toppers out there. I have made large hexagonal ones but my favourite is the dresden plate. I have had this template for years. Now you have inspired me to make a tree skirt for my fake tree this year.
I’m so glad this was inspirational for you! I searched everywhere years ago and couldn’t find anything like you are explaining. Thank you so much for sharing this information with us. Happy sewing on your tree skirt! ❤️😁🎄😊
great job!!!! I would be pleased if my valleys came out so well, but , please explain to me just WHY you don't use bias binding? I might could learn something about the difference when using one over the other. THANK YOU.
Hello and thank you for your question. When I began quilting over 30 years ago, I used to stitch and flip my quilts. I was terrified of binding! 😬 I dove into self learning of how to make and apply binding then I was hooked. It was a task I definitely wanted to know. I stumbled across a RUclips video about bias binding, the way it was made and such. I think it is a good thing to know, but I have never created a quilt that needed that extra stretch of the bias, even after washing. As with many things in quilting, we all have to do what works best for us and how we want to create. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and put this confession out there to the Quilt community. Lol My hope is it will allow others to feel it’s OK to do whatever works best for them. ❤️ I’m so sorry for the lengthy response. I wanted to talk about it more in the video, but it was already a pretty lengthy video as it is. 😂 All the best to you! 🫶🏼😊🎄
@@OxygenFarmQuilts thank you for your response. your video was very informative and if it has to be long to get me to understand what i need to know, then so be it. please don't apologize for the length of your video, but please do keep them coming.
Oh goodness, this is so kind and helpful of you to say! I do fret over lengthy videos but many times it’s needed. I’m the type of learner that needs to hear things a couple of times before I get it, so my hope was to help others that may be that way as well. I really do appreciate this, and I thank you for being here. 🤗❤️😁🌹
Hello and thank you for your question. 👋 With the wedges being cut on the bias, you will have a bit of stretch either way. I have found that a good hot iron works well for shrinking the fibers back into place, if needed. I hope this helps and happy sewing! ❤️😊🫶🏼
I love this and would love to make one for my tree, i dont have the right tools but thought i would make a template on my cricut. I can see the small end is 1in and I know its 20inchs long from you other video but can you tell l me how wide the bigger end is? Please Im guessing 8inch but I might be wrong
That’s a wonderful idea! I measured the wide end of the clear ruler I used in this video and it is about 8 3/8” so I don’t think you are too far off. Please let us know how this works out for you and let me know if you have questions. All the best to you! 🫶🏼😊❤️🎄

How do I know if I have an 18° dresden template. The one I purchased is 8" long. I am new quilting, so I'm not upstanding degrees.

The "stick" is known as a point turner, by the way. Great job keeping the😢 points and seams flat! Thank you for greatly detailed camera work, too !!!

Did you cut the wedges vertically or horizontal on the fabric or do you think it matters in the end
