I think David X is the guy who said, "It's not about being funny, it's about having a sense of humor." What I think that means is that you are not going in there with the intention of being a jokey comedian but someone who has a natural sense of humor already, I have heard David X talk to other guys and he is always funny not just with women.
Humor can be developed.Being funny doesn't mean to be able to do stand up comedy.In fact,I find very few stand up comedians who are really funny.Most of them are just desperate to get laughs from people by making stupid jokes.You could just observe people who you believe are truly funny and watch funny sitcoms.Also,stay always positive and take everything lightly.Eventually humor will just come up.
I don't completely agree on the non faking thing. I used to just chill on dates and be very friendly, and then I read some seduction advice and tried to be more dominant - it wasn't natural me. BUT it turned out I started likeing it, liking beeing more dominant with girls.

Im more of a 'Smooth, Suave, Mysterious, Romantic' Type, I find it very hard to use the PUA tactics cause they require you to be straight forward, a little cocky, a really happy witty person etc. There isn't a lot of PUA options available (from what iv learned so far) that work for my type of personality.
