    Saw him in 1969 or 70 at The Paramount Theater in Springfield Massachusetts I’ll never forget Fantastic Performance

    I saw Long John in Hollywood at the Whiskey. Totally amazing. He died July 22nd, same day as my friend David Corona. I lived in England, and on the plane home back to California. This was the song in my head. I adored Long John. May he rest in peace.........he was beautiful.

    I worked in the downstairs bar at the Cooks Ferry in Edmonton north London around 1966/7 Long John Baldry was singing with a traditional jazz band at that time So was lucky enough to enjoy his gigs there.I met him again in the late 1970s in Vancouver.

    I love this song, I saw John and Kathi perform in the 80's.. no I cant remember exactly when. I think of some of the people I have lost when I listen to this classic, Kathi and John are gone too, I imagine they are all together, playing and singing rock n roll

    Wow --- So fortunate John decided to settle in Vancouver all those years ago - got to see him and Kathi locally fairly often . A true LEGEND> His bands featured a who's who of western Canadian musicians.

    Long John was the person Elton John credited with the person who was responsible for his song " Someone Saved my Life Tonight "

      Peter McAuliffe : He met some of these guys in subway corridors and likewise and picked them up and played with. For some of them the start of a new career and a rescue for life.

    Only knew lovin fellin from LBJ ( one of my all time favourites)
    But this song really swings and grooves in a warm sultry rocking way. Love it!
    So glad I stumbled across this GEM!

    I loved his "Baldry's Out" album. So great to see Kathi here. She should have been a huge star in her own right. What a voice. I never knew Long John was a gay man until I read about his passing. Evidently, he lived out and proud before many others did. I guess at 6' 7" ya just didn't take sh!t from anyone.

    Ironically Rod Stewart used to sing back up for Long John. Nice version of the old Faces song.

    His version of [Bonnie Dobson's "Will You Walk With Me,"] MORNING DEW is best cover of any other (in my opinion) because of LJB's voice!

    I'm looking at the songwriting credits on Baldry's album "It Ain't Easy" and it credits Lane/Stewart/Wood with the song. I found your video after watching a Faces' video of the same song.I don't know if you ever had the chance to listen to the album, but it's a classic. The cd re-release has a bunch of bonus tracks, that were not on the original vinyl.

    The best version of this song ever. I'm sorry that I have to ask; who wrote it. the first time I heard was 10 years ago on Genya Ravans "bird on the wire Album" on vinyl. The on a Rod Stewart album ...well...no...on radio. I still don't know who wrote it

    A Great and in my estimation..the greatest white blues preformer that influenced many great preformers...in the case of Reginald Dwight...he chose his knew last name of Elton John...from his close friend ...Long "JOHN" BALDRY......

    This is a fantastic rendition of the tune. I'm thinking that Rod Stewart with Faces recorded this. Could be wrong. I like the version in this video better.
    Edit: Just checked, and this is off of Baldry's "It ain't easy" album. Don't know if Faces version came after.

    It was Long John who invited Rod Steward to play with his band years ago. Rod was actually playing as a street musician in the subway areas, far of being a professional musician. I'm therefore not sure if this is from the faces....

      In the right upper corner you see WDR. That stands for West Deutsche Rundfunk. Germany. They had a program called Rockpalast, Rockpalace , They broadcoasted it live without adds or anything. It started in 1974 so its after that. Late 70 ths or early 80 ths i think .

    Why do many artist play their songs so much faster when playing live?
    This is much too fast IMO.
    I think it ruins the effect of the original when they do this.
