Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As a Scottish history tour guide people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation if your from the US. So I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

Sorry if this is off topic for the video, but I followed the link at the end and the story in that one made me think that you might have an answer for me.
Do you know any Scottish or Celtic stories about a deer with a tail as long as a horse's? I've seen one, and it's a bit of a long story, but the only thing in legend I can find is Asian, which is a bit far from the mountains of North Georgia.
@@LungsOutJem I'll be honest I don't know that story
Scotland is a very romantic and mysterious country, full of raw emotion. Keep it up.
The noo the world is a sad and awful place, I am old and wondering what I could have contributed to the savagery that surrounds us. In dark thoughts I come upon you, and my spirits lift. Thank you agin for another great yarn Bruce. And if you find in a few months there is an annoying Kiwi bugger behind you in your beautiful car, you will know I have won the lotto, and it's yer shout as I recall. Arohanui
I wonder, too. What insanity especially of my youth. What delusions of me and my cohorts brought this on ?
He is another great Bruce isn’t he
It's time for tea and a story from Bruce! 🫖
In my case, cold brew coffee. 👍🏽☕️
A great cup a mocca! And oh, did that 'taste' grand... Yeah the mocca as well!
Tea and pancakes for me.
I'm visiting Scotland with an old friend after so many years (I used to live and go to school there.) Bruce, your videos capture all the reasons why I love this amazing country. Thank you for sharing the history, culture, and mythology, of Scotland!
Yet another instance wherein the artifact is fascinating, but the greater treasure is its story. Well done, Bruce.
Wow.. another magical story that teases your imagination! Love it.. That museum in Fort William is a wee gem of a place! Thanks Bruce 😊❤
Those tiny bracelets, made for a woman, someone's love, are now lost to time. Your heart bleeds in such stories.
@@davidarchibald50Could they have been on the wrists of a dead toddler, who died so young that the bones rotted away?
It's 5:00am here, going to get a cuppa and enjoy a story from Bruce.
Thank you kindly⚘🕊
U must be my neighbor?? Its 5 17 in Ontario😅
It's 19.40 here, and I am a little sozzled on a light Kiwi Rose. it is not the best but who am I kidding. The story is grand though.
Wow! Absolutely gorgeous scenery, beautiful gold armlets and amazing story. Pay attention to those dreams. Thank you Bruce!
Glad you enjoyed it
Bruce,
Look up the Mooghaun hill fort and the gold hoard discovered in 1854 when the railway was being built. It was found outside my great grannies family cottage. Right under their noses for how many generations?!
5 kilos of gold torcs and armlets.
It’s in county Clare Ireland.
Milk and tea 😊❤ and tell me about my father's and aunties Silures tribal celtic history and Really enjoyed the show😊.
Good morning Bruce, Thanx for the video so I can have my Saturday morning ritual 😁💙🏴 COFFEE WITH BRUCE IN SCOTLAND 🏴 I literally look forward to it all week...
Hey, I'm watching "The Lost King" What a pleasant surprise to see none other than you.
😜
The museum is an excellent place to visit, it has excellent access for disabled with stair lifts to access the upper floors. Once again an impressive programme and told beautifully thanks 🏴🏴🏴🏴
Brilliant as always Bruce.
Thank you Mr Bruce!! Archeology is fascinating. 🖤
Used to get dragged their on holiday when we were bairns, journey felt like a lifetime, once we were there I didn’t want to go home, beautiful part of the world, million miles from back lanes and terraced streets!
A'reyt Bruce. Having been up early this morning, I had a nap then awoke and something drew me to watch this video on RUclips as soon as it was posted at 10 am. What magic is this?
Since early childhood I've seen future events, some trivial, some important. What it's shown me, is that that life is definitely an illusion largely constructed by our memories, and when the body drops, our consciousness enters the timeless.
The first memory of "second sight" I can recall was of this old man walking out of the downstairs bedroom. I must have been around three year old. I asked my mother who he was, and where he went, as I'd seen him a few times. So I described him and the type of clothes he had on. Turned out it was her father, who had stayed in our house in the months before he died. A good 8 years before I was born. He used to say my name, and then simply wasn't there.
As for future events, I foresaw the birth of every nephew and niece, each of my own children; time and date of birth... and this was mostly pre-gender tests. I saw the girl I'd meet and marry, though she was from a city and I, a country guy. I've seen the winners of football and horse racing, even though I've never had an interest in either, so that aspect has come in handy but did get me banned from many bookies, even online!
Some events we have to meet, others are kind of open ended, with great scope for play. It's almost like the free will debate and just how much we actually have, but some things we cannot avoid no matter how hard we try. I have tried to change future events, but they played out anyway in spite of my efforts. Little details different, but same outcome.
Haha. Long time ago I used to have a good chance of saying which greyhound would win at the "dugs'. Though I only watched television.
I just saw your performance on Netflix in the Lost King. What a nice surprise. Great job of acting. 🎭
😘
Remarkable. Thank you again.
Lovely way to start the day. Great story. Thank you.
Love your videos Bruce. What really drives home me not being and maybe not ever understanding being Scottish. The words “Scotland hammered England one nill . . . “
Any time Scotland beats England it's a bbiigg win and the lads on the pitch were being gentle with the English.
For the sake of their dignity when they went back home, of course.
That was a tale well told.
Incredible….❤
Another wonderful story Bruce. I wish I could tour with you.
Maybe one day!
@@ScotlandHistoryTours - Bruce - Just an idea for your upcoming tours or a history segment. My sincere apology for my altruistic ramblings but I've not yet really plumbed the depths of a clan without a clan chief. I'm fairly certain that part of this situation was due to the scattering of the clans after the Battle of Cullodin.
My mother was an Anderson and when visiting Scotland with family in September 2017, we missed experiencing the annual gathering of the Clans at Edinburgh Castle. It was quite a sight as I later watched via the magic of RUclips.
I've since learned Clan Anderson is recognized as an armigerous clan by the Lord Lyon King of Arms; however, the clan does not currently have a chief recognized by the Court. Is this unusual for a clan not to have a clan chief?
Some of my research - Clan Anderson - description - Lands of Candacraig - historic seat. The Anderson family held the lands of Candacraig from the 1500s up to 1867 when it passed to the Forbes. Candacraig House was built in 1835 and may also incorporate the remains of a previous castle.
You’ve just saved my Saturday 😳thank you Bruce

@@ScotlandHistoryTours hey big man just watched some Americans reacting to your videos
Good stuff your getting about👊🏼🏴
The first Rugby International ever, (Scotland v England), was played at Raeburn Place, Edinburgh. The ground of Edinburgh of Edinburgh Academicals. The first ever match at Murrayfield. (again Scotland v England), was in 1925.
Love your posts but this one is tops. So interesting 😊
Thanks so much!
So well written and well told 🌞
New meaning to "follow your dreams" love it! Was just discussing that turn of phrase, and how in a different way I was told to stop using my dreams inappropriately (to study for upcoming exams). What were you thinking I meant!
i would like a dream like that!
😂Me too
thanks!
No problem!
Morning Bruce, are you getting keen for Canada yet??
been watchin a heep o yer shows bruce. deein well ma loon, keep it up! especially loved the indian pete ones :)
This kinda reminded me a little bit of The Alchemist; weaving the material and the spiritual into current reality.
Wow that background of those mountains when you're walking on that beach 🏖️ Guess Scotland isn't all deep fried mars bars and buckfast
I'll be honest I've never heard of anyone eating a deep fried Mars Bar
@@ScotlandHistoryToursits a tourist gimmick.
Bruce, wee correction.
The first international rugby match was played at Raeburn Place (home of Edinburgh Accies) not Murrayfield.
Aye
Thanks!
Wow, thanks
Have you ever thought about a video on the lost Spanish gold at Loch Arkaig?
I have though never got round to it
I think the relationship between the Irish and the Scots, especially when it comes to the their interaction, is very interesting.
Hello Mc Curdy family
Great views of Melantee and the Ben, as my Uncle Archie would agree...cheers/slainte...ps Tom Sleman has competition...😊😊😊
Might have to pull you up on something here Bruce, the first Rugby international was played at Raeburn Place not Murrayfield!
Came here to say this. 😂 you got there first.
Very informative as usuual but... the first rugby international was played at Raeburn Place in Edinburgh. We still won of course!
Aye, ah ken
I believe the first ever international rugby game was actually played at Raeburn Place in Stockbridge
I wonder, what would've happened if you applied some fire to the bracelets. Would there have been writings that would've shown up?
You got that box in the thumbnail from b n m 2 years back. I did to 😂😂
It is a long road we've all walked, all the way from the very beginning.....
Brilliant!
P.S The electricity for your car comes from Fossil Fuels LOL.
That's a strong possibility. The probability depends a lot on the season of the year. Very few air conditioners other than in public buildings and some of them might be heat pumps.
Hydro, Nuclear, Wind both on and off shore, Solar, which amazes me, have in some months exceeded Thermal production.
@@myparceltape1169 I agree. Not a blanket statement thing. I should have said not necessarily. Lol

Blessed Earthday Scotland Huggyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Another lovely tale, a bit of a departure from the usual. Just a pity your subtitles do not know the words. Second site? Jagob byte???
That's computer language for you! The future is A.I., worrying.
Sgoinneil!
Ireland here, give them back 😂
😜I highly doubt that these were looted from Ireland. Many Irish people migrated to Scotland for centuries. They probably brought these with them.
That's pretty impressive for Scotland to beat england in the first rugby international!up there with Glasgow Celtic putting Scottish, nay British, nay northern European football on the map for the first time!😊
Believe it or not, 1967 was used as an interview question in some places.
@@myparceltape1169 I totally believe it,but how would you answer it if you're not aware of the interviewers intentions?
@@Sandwich13455 I suppose that was the trap.
If you were not thinking like the workers you didn't belong with them.
It was interesting to hear London centred news describe Celtic as a British team and the next year an "English" team won a different trophy. However, I don't know the proportion of Scottish players in the English team.
@@myparceltape1169 you wouldn't be working in the Glasgow shipyards if you were happy about 1967,for sure, Ive heard that about the press in London, they pulled the same with Andy Murray, when he won he was British, lose a match and he's Scottish all of a sudden, again.
@@myparceltape1169 it's much better now, personally I don't care about people I've never met because of their religion or skin tone, character is the all deciding factor!
Are you sure Scotland beat England I thought it was 20-4 to England.
Electric SUV.... Lol
Wondering how many people understand Scottish, perhaps he would do better if he learned English.
In the list of stupid comments I've seen this one is right up there
How can I trust you to have a great tour of amazing parts of the history of Scotland when yuo can't even remember to put the price for it? Hiding prices is illegal where I come from.
I'd love to go, but since you're not telling me the cost... Nope.
Silly comment
@@905royals I know. All he had to do was click the link to get the price. To be honest he doesn't sound like somebody who would come anyway and I DEFINITELY wouldn't have wanted to spend 11 days with the bloke, so all's well that ends well
The first gubbing of England took place at Raeburn Place, the Edinburgh Accies ground. After that it was my old team's ground at Inverleith. It wasn't until 1925 that Murrayfield was used. Is there a video to be made about rugby? The 7s and Ned Haigh?
Sorry, that was lazy of me throwing that wee joke in and not checking the history. Apologies
@ScotlandHistoryTours no worries Bruce.
Meant to say love the programmes. I learn stuff I never learned at school but I did learn about the corn laws, the real thereof and the jacobite "rebellions" if we were lucky. And don't start me about window tax and clay panties being brought from the Netherlands as ballast! There's a whole story in that last falsehood. Dutch ones were left or right handed to take account of the prevailing wind and every 100th one had the maker's hand print. Not one hand print has been found on a pantile here and they are all monodirectional. Anyway, I'm stepping off my high cuddy.
