    6:00 I remember people online being dismissive and making fun of the 3D video segment during Vision Pro's announcement and those people just have no idea how many of these things will get bought for just that one feature by people who can't physically be with their family for those moments that they miss out on. By older folks whose family is across country or across the world who may not be able to travel easily. People well off, where $5,000 is literally nothing to them. That experience will be priceless to them.
    People complain way too much about the price, and forget there are a lot of people out there where money isn't an issue, and time and experience is.

    My man all your points on what the vision pro does best the Quest 3 or even the 3DS does too.

    • @Turtle-.-
      @Turtle-.- Год назад +7

      I got mine yesterday. I owned the Quest 2 and Quest 3 too. I can confidently say the Vision Pro is MILES better than both of the Quests in hand tracking. With its precise eye tracking too, I love how you can control it really easily without needing controllers. I am sure you have tried the hand tracking on the Quest 3, to say its lack luster is an understatement. Additionally the resolution is much better to the eye (though still not like real life of course). The Quests are obviously much better for people wanting to play VR games (and also don't want to drop 3.5k-minimum on a set) and I will agree that the Vision Pro is not 7x better than the Quest 3 (i.e. not the best bang for your buck) but there is definitely some value to consumers who can afford it. Vision Pro is marketed as a work tool, and as someone who flies all the time as a software consultant, this has a lot of value to me. I can essentially have as many screens as I want up in front of me and as large as I want, anywhere - anytime. Of-course the Quest 3 can pull up screens too, but it doesn't have the computing power to physically run large applications without syncing it to a PC, something not very useful on the plane.

      @@Turtle-.- i am still trying to understand productivity part like who likes to code with something heavy on their face while moving head and eyes constantly. you will be more productive when this thing is not on your face. Just like major headsets, it is going to collect dust after wow factor is done. Also, VR biggest use cases are still entertainment and gaming.

    • @Turtle-.-
      @Turtle-.- Год назад

      @@alexs1118 Oh I definitely agree that most people buy VRs for entertainment and gaming, and I would agree that for people only interested in that, the Vision Pro is a terrible investment as it stands currently. However, for someone who wants to integrate mixed reality into their workflow, it CAN be a good investment if the price is within their budget. This minority of people are what I believe Vision Pro is marketed towards. I also agree that working at my desk with my standalone desktop is a lot better for productivity, but it definitely is aided by the fact I have 5 monitors for at-home use. I would say I spend 60-70% of my month travelling and at locations where bringing my desktop and all my monitors around with me isn't possible. Vision Pro makes that possible for me. I used to bring a laptop with me on trips, but (assuming you code yourself) you can probably understand the pain of working on a laptop screen and flipping between windows non stop.

    It really surprised me that many reviewers seemed never know that with 360 video cameras (like GoPro Hero Max) and much cheaper VR headsets (Quest 2 or 3), you can not only “live in memory”, but in much more immersive 360 photos and videos!
    I have been using this for more than 2 years and recorded my families every trip: from skiing down the double black trail (360 video perfectly recreated that fear of steepness) to swimming in the tropical pool (yes, 360 videos can be shot underwater); from driving along Ice Field Highway, to riding horses along a rural path; from going on a rollercoaster with kids, to be at scene of a historical event. Everything is 360, totally immersive, NOT just a 3D framed image in front of you, which certainly make yourself feel outside that memory.
    So unfortunately your number one “only Vision Pro can do” stuff has already been done by many VR users over years, at much lower cost, and with much, much more flexibility.
    (BTW, do you know that with tens of thousands of exiting Google Street View photos and user provided 3D photos on Google Maps, any VR users, except for Vision Pro users maybe, can already enjoy 360 images around most of the world cities?)
    Tomorrow I will record some more 360 skiing videos. Good luck trying the same with new $4000+ Apple Vision Pro, unless you want some really unique and expensive bad memory.

    • @MikeOBrienMedia
      @MikeOBrienMedia  Год назад +8

      Definitely can't film black diamond runs with this headset haha
      But I would argue this is very different. I also use 360 cams to film my electric scooter videos, wakeboarding, and snowboarding too. The Apple Vision Pro is different and it's hard to show that in a 2D video.

    • @DstruX
      @DstruX Год назад +7

    • @freeman038
      @freeman038 Год назад

      @@DstruX A flat 360 photo or video is much more immersive than a 3D photo or movie, unless the later has at least 180 degree viewing angle.
      Flat 360 image is just like you close one eye and watch your surroundings. Even without depth, you can still feel many spatial things such as steepness of slope, or the fear of height (yes, very scary!). If in 360 video someone is trying to kiss you, your body will even feel her warm breath (because your body thought she’s so close and reacted).
      3D is only like you watch 3D movies. How can you say it’s more immersive than 360? Or it can recreate life memories as real as like 360 images?

I have the quest 3 and most of the features described, minus the panorama, are already in the quest 3 evolving at each update. For a fraction of the cost, I enjoy the quest 3 and whatever new VR hardware gets released from meta will improve on it. It seems there are lots of unknowns on the VP and is dependent on updates that apple and its devs puts out. Most of the reviews of the VP are almost "um...yes good..but! so its no front runner in any means in revolutionizing anything that has not already been done . The cost that one has to put out for this device and its limited features that seem to be available in the Quest 3 itself, alongside the many accessories that come with it, will be the final say best left to consumers and their wallets.

      Yes, but I’m guessing they were thinking…the tech can blow people away and we need a lot of raw power to pull this off. So yea they could wait for glasses, but that could be decades off. The power you need to run this thing is going to be hard to pull off without a wire going to something else. I’m hoping somehow wifi or Bluetooth technology will get a lot better and somehow allow for all the computer specs to work through the air. Not sure if that’s possible. They probably wanted to give us the Apple smooth interface feeling, and was willing to do it before they could get the size or weight down. I just hope they keep improving this.

    Kurt Cobain in '93: "I think they’ll use sounds and tones for music and use it in their virtual reality machines. And just listen to it that way and get the same emotions from it. And then go to a party. There’ll be a virtual reality machine there with a whole bunch of headphones and if you wanna talk to people and listen to the virtual reality machine you can do that and go into the other bedroom and f**k and drink and… but actually I think virtual reality machines will get you high. Technology will be that good. And then there’ll be like virtual reality junkies lying there dead on their couch from OD’ing."
