What an honor and privilege to have a wild and free father and grandpa like that !!! That was an amazing glimpse back in time and reflection of the future ! Really appreciate that film truly touched by all these generations that keep IT alive in all of us !! Thank You !
Renting his videos when i was a kid and istening to Gordon's voice, watching them over and over was the best baby sitter I ever had. Love those old VHS tapes. Gordon Eastman, outdoor legend!
When I was young....a longtime ago i saw his file High Wild and Free and a local theater . It was a major reason that I fell in love with the outdoors and hunting.
Gordan Eastman's filming romanced the northwest territory in a way that all outdoor enthusiasts yearn for an experience to appreciate Gods creation and bounty. A view through his camera lenses built the apex of outdoor film. I cant imagine the beauty he experienced or the toughness it took to live his life of being an adventurer.
Since I was old enough to understand my pops always spoke of Gordon Eastman and Stan Burrell. Mr. Eastman and Mr. Burrell are absolute LEGENDS..... I wish they would show these types of films in public schools today to keep the Outdoor Culture alive...
Just saw "High Wild and Free" which lead me here. What an amazing life. Being a kid from the burbs growing up in the 70'-80's (and still) I would reminisce, while looking at the old B&W photos my Grand Parents had taken on hunting and fishing trips, imagining I may one day get to live that way... But just not in the cards, Work, School more work. Lived vicariously through books and films. Lucky enough to get to go to a "club" now and then to can hunt pheasants, quail, chuker, or an occasional deer at a friends place that's no longer with us. To "live" that life. Man oh Man...
Mike helped me with some questions on antelope hunting before his book on the subject came out, then followed up with me afterwards. I used his help and the book to plan and execute a once in a lifetime “antelope safari” with my father. We had a great hunt, took two wonderful pronghorn bucks, and Mike even used one of my photos in a testimonial for his book in Eastmans’ Holiday Gift Guide that year. I’ll never forget his generosity with his advice, and the memories it helped me make with my father. That hunt ended up being my last antelope hunt with my dad, who died four years later. I feel indebited to the Eastman family, and though I never met Gordon, his and their story in this film brought a flood of emotions back about that hunt with my father now thirteen years ago. Thanks Mike, and everyone at Eastmans, and Yeti for this film!
Wonderful. Please keep making this beautiful, educational, fascinating content. I loved watching his films in the 1980s and I’m really enjoying this one too!
I’ve been following your films since they started, and they are still the best short films on the outdoors of any I have found. These inspire me to continue to appreciate the outdoors as well as find ways to display its beauty to others.
Well I didn’t expect this to hit me as hard as it did. Lots of parallels to my relationship with my own father. But here I am, tears running through my beard. Excellent film and story. TY
Very nice film. It helps answer the question that all hunters get asked every year. WHY DO WE HUNT. This says it all. It's not for the money it's because we care.
That is one of the best films I’ve seen, I grew up renting Gordon Eastmans videos from our local sporting goods store. Brings back a lot of memories, thanks for putting this together, well done

I also grew up renting the VHS tapes. Can’t imagine how many times I watched the Phantom Ram. This short video brings back some early memories

Very neat to see old timers like Stan Burrell and Clarence “Cougar” Long in this video, been hearing of those legends my whole life!
Gordon is/was my hero! His videos inspired me and I am forever grateful.
Beautiful! Just simply beautiful.

@YETI this film series is exceptional!
Great film. Thank you.
Such beautiful country to see! People today don’t care and rather sit all day watching videos and TikToks 😢

Love it, brings back the feeling watching Gordons films in the 90s.
I heard the crack of the shot, the travel of the bullet, and then the hard stop and said" that's a hit. "Then I got teary-eyed. Great documentary.

Great film! you guys told an amazing story!
Hunting can be a controversial topic but you document it with a lot of sensibility. So well done!
so much beauty, sad that man makes the focus the death of a strong amazing creature.

CW KILLED GORDON.
GET THAT STRAIGHT.
Sounds like he was selfish father according to his son and grandsons. Narcissist.
And sounds like you sir are what we call an “idiot.” Enjoy being one. Life is a lot more simple for your type.
Incredible film.
