I absolutely agree and I hope that William comes back for another season of his tutorials! I did a little bit of resarch on Mr. Kurk (yes, it's indeed "Kurk"), aided by williamkurk.com/ He's released several solo albums in the last 15 years (all are available on streaming services, e.g. Spotify) and there's at least one podcast interview with William: It's at makingmoneyinthemusicbiz.com/podcast-52-interview-with-pianist-composer-singer-william-kurk/
ruclips.net/video/zxRpZGQnXcI/видео.html Watch this video, and you'll understand why im shocked to read your comment :D an actual mashup of I cant go for that and Closer!
The drum pattern is ROCK AND ROLL 1 combined with another one of the presets which you can hear on the original. It was them recorded via a microphone in the room - coming out of the studio speakers. The bass part and the organ style pads are indeed a Korg CX3. The bells and strings are all Prophet5. There is no rhodes or any other keyboards on this track. The multitrack stems are pretty easy to hunt down - there is not much too this song at all, which makes it so amazing.
Awww man, you're a real treasure with your knowledge. No one can watch these videos of yours and not be blown away by your skill. It's a real joy for me listening to the layers. Thanks so much!
I just stumbled across this upload, not even looking for music but here I am. I love love love, taking a song from my childhood (I'm 43) and breaking it down piece by piece. Great video! Gonna check out what else is here now. Thanx!
Man, I don't even play the keyboard but I love this song and that's how I got here... But I stayed for your hosting. Great sense of humor! That vintage gear jokes were actually fun!
Very nice. It's almost there. That Rhodes arpeggio is missing a note at the bottom of the run, though. I think it's a G in one bar, then F on the next.
clinke2007, I think you're correct. The "Rhodes" arpeggio ends with "G" the first time, and "F" every other time. In fact, it's pretty easy to confirm this by watching the original Hall and Oates video. That part is played on a Prophet 5 in the video, and the alternating G and F are clearly seen.
What good is it if Bob Fossil isn't there to dance to it? I mean, the guy merges with this song in a way that they make each other better. Bob Fossil IS this Song. This song IS Bob Fossil. And he can't go for that.
I remember listening to this track back in '81. As I recall there were no fewer than 9 separate synth patches in the intro. Still a great groove nearly 40 years later.
Luis Hernandez. So that awful video was your fault? Please stop encouraging him. His videos are full of errors, sloppy analysis, and lousy sound recreations. Hmmmm....maybe because he wasn't even there. I can't go for THAT.
Loving this series! The tones are really spot on! Would love to see Depeche Modes ”Behind the Wheel” or a-Ha’s ”Take On Me”. Or just some wonderful DX7 songs!
Late to comment, but yes I love these 80’s production breakdowns! Great track selection so instead of suggesting a song, keep going in the vein you are, and it will inspire me to go back and listen to old vinyl.
Great video! Definitely want to hear more. It doesn't even need to be an entire song, maybe you could just pick a really iconic synth part, like a lead or a pad, and show how to regenerate it on real analog hardware from scratch? For example maybe the pad from Brian Eno's "An Ending" or the lead from "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter Group?
Thanks for all these videos guys; you had me at "It's My Life!" I thought they might've used a Yamaha CP30 on this. I heard they used that on "You Make My Dreams Come True" and it had an organ-ish piano sound. "Take On Me" would be a good tune to examine for synths used!
I wish they would show Will working on a track, something thats his own, something that he has to put a couple synths over. Starting from scratch, so we can see his process for coming up with his own sounds.
man i never watch these videos ,but i opened this one to see if they replicated that bass line to the fullest! I guess i should always trust my gut! Thanks though! :)
William Kirk is 100% legit. Please keep him as the host. I think you guys should get a little darker and show us synth sounds NIN closer.
Agree, you can't do a synth series and not have NIN tunes detailed.
I completely agree.

Have you guys done Cars by Gary Numan? If not, I'm sure that would be a fun song to dissect
How about the More Synth song same Album called Metal?
Ditto Cars Gary Newman
P.S. I did a cover (ALL INSTRUMENTS and vocals) of the CARS “Let the Good Times Roll” By Giant 1 Available iTunes, Spotify etc. (might be on RUclips)
Any Gary Numan song would be awesome!!
Need to do a Gary Numan song, master of synths.

Thank you Mr. Kirk for this wonderful series! I've enjoyed them all so far, and I'm looking forward to your next installment!
This series is incredible and William is god damn awesome. Please keep doing these these are the best thing on YT right now.
I just stumbled across this upload, not even looking for music but here I am. I love love love, taking a song from my childhood (I'm 43) and breaking it down piece by piece. Great video! Gonna check out what else is here now. Thanx!
2 of my favourite songs ever so far from this series. Keep it coming!
I’m addicted to watching these. Please keep them going!
I've listened to this song so many times in the last few days, your timing is perfect for me.
Every time is the right time for Hall & Oates.
Sorry, but you're out of touch, I'm out of time.
i would really appreciate a synth sounds of Zapp & Roger - More Bounce to the Ounce, love to see how it was arranged.
Definitely keep doing this. Great study in how fantastic music featuring synths gets made.

Correct.
Except it's not a Rhodes sound. Prophet 5 all the way.
@@UnionThugg the prophet 5 he played sounded alot more like the original minus the aftertouch at the end
I’ve been looking for a breakdown of this song like this for ages
Thank you! My fave beat/song all time
WIlliam Kirk! I like your presentation, very light and entertaining. Well done!
I am astonished at how Daryl Hall came up with that magical Rhodes arpeggiated line. Magical...
This is easily one of my favorite series to watch right now! Great job, super fun
Can you make a Synth sounds video every day til the end of time thanks
What good is it if Bob Fossil isn't there to dance to it? I mean, the guy merges with this song in a way that they make each other better. Bob Fossil IS this Song. This song IS Bob Fossil. And he can't go for that.
Every video of yours I watch I feel like I'm getting a history lesson on music. A+
Reverb is rockin it with this series
What a great song choice!!!!!!!!!
Bass in yo face here we go 👌🏽🎶😜
tdrum21 Haha, this guy is awesome.
I remember listening to this track back in '81. As I recall there were no fewer than 9 separate synth patches in the intro. Still a great groove nearly 40 years later.

Neal Gustafson Hoping It 😅
Neal Gustafson he uploaded EWTRTW today, how did u knew??!!!!
Luis Hernandez. So that awful video was your fault? Please stop encouraging him. His videos are full of errors, sloppy analysis, and lousy sound recreations. Hmmmm....maybe because he wasn't even there. I can't go for THAT.
That beat sounds very similar to Michael Jacksons the way you make me feel and leave me alone.
New favourite RUclips show.
Loving this series! The tones are really spot on!
Would love to see Depeche Modes ”Behind the Wheel” or a-Ha’s ”Take On Me”.
Or just some wonderful DX7 songs!
This is great and really helpful. Please keep doing lots more of this series!
this channel is so awesome
Excellent ! Really enjoyed seeing and hearing your analysis of this and other songs. Looking forward to more.

Love this!
Great series! So much to learn from analyzing the parts and sounds!
That CompuRhythm is seriously gorgeous. "Twice as nice"
"I can't go for that... but we CAN go for that."
Take a bow, William Kurk.
Fantastic video, guys. Keep up with this series

Loved this video and I love Hall and Oates. Another great video could be synth sounds of "One on One," Hall and Oates's underrated masterpiece.
Lucas Wuensch according to interviews from Daryl, they used 3 instruments: his trusty Prophet 5, the Linn drum machine, and T-Bone's superb bassline.
P Kranz that baseline has a temptations it was just my imagination feel to it. Dreamy
William Kirk is the best! Keep him!

would love to see this series continue!!! (perhaps exploring synth sounds of THE THE)

Yes. More of these videos!
I don't play keys, but you are one of my favorite Reverb guys!
I know nothing about all that, but I love the song. That's what brought me here. Interesting.
Loved it. Great sounds
Very nice. But what really makes the sound pop ... is that Members Only jacket.
Tim Satterwhite Not a Daryl Hall thing. Get you a slim-lapel dinner jacket, tshirt, chinos, and some loafers.
Reverb! Can we please get more of this! I love this dude
Soon. Pinkie swear. :)
This Is The Greatest Song Of All Time
i really enjoy the video man, keep it up
Oh my god YES!
This song has been sampled numerous amount of times, that's how valued it is
love what you do you should make a tv show
Great video, very well done. The Safety Dance, please!
More more, for sure! Loving these!

Rhodes-part is what stands out for me, instrumentally.

beautiful! so cool
Love this guy
man i never watch these videos ,but i opened this one to see if they replicated that bass line to the fullest! I guess i should always trust my gut! Thanks though! :)
These are the best
Stand back Stevie Nicks would be great! Especially since Prince played the synth parts!
What an interesting video!! I'm a guitarist, they never break down guitar recordings like this
You're a terrific musician too!!
