We all have different hearing and sound preferences, yet it would seem that with all testing it would be far more important as to which produces “repeatable smaller groups”.
Difference in the weight of the 2 strings I am guessing is substantial with the Mercury being much lighter - possible reason or the noticeable sound difference. It is vibration. Upping to 22 to 24 strands would most likely make a difference. BCY now has Mercury2 - same material but the strands are almost twice as thick - similar to D97. I build using 12 strands padded to 18 to 20 and it is one of the quietest on recurves/longbows.
Seriously,.... I was thinking about you this afternoon Meister Armin...and wonderered what you were doing..😄 And... You appeared this evening!!! 🙏😄🙏 Thank's Senseï!! Richard Lionheart👍😎🏹🇫🇷
From what I saw on the sound meter (it was hard to see the spikes, but I saw them), the original string was louder by 2-3 db, depending on how close you were to the device. It varied somewhat. But 2 dBA is a bit louder (approximately 1.3 times as loud, I believe, and easily hearable. The problem is that the meter is not very good in that environment (traffic noises etc). I saw at least one spike, with the original string, of 63.2, but I'm not sure what exactly was being measured during that spike I saw (could have been traffic).
I really like flemish twist, making them is a pleasant exercise in itself and produces really good looking (and slightly more efficient weight/strength) results. However what works best in terms of longevity (at least for me) is combining it with the turkish knot.
Nice to see you my friend. I seen a Flemish string on the Styrscula ( sorry if I miss spelled it) Turkish the other day on a review and thought it a little odd. But that bow didn't seem to sound so metallic as your keshig. But I thought it may be a good idea just be cause of it's adjustability. Where your original keshig string was quite long if I remember correctly. Anyway nice comparison. Hope to see more of you been missing you on here very much!
English is not my native language, and I want to know if I understood correctly: 15 strand BCY Mercury with 24 strands padded loops? I would never use Mercury in a bow like that, but BCY recommend about 30 strands for this material.
Long time no see 😁 Interesting as usual. If you need an idea for a video, do a comaprisment of 2 vs 3 fletchings on an arrow. I'm really curious to hear your opinion on that.
LG Thomas Unfried
Good to see😎 you and bunny again...I see just as bad close up as I do far away, it's a wonder I hit anything.😂 Interesting comparison Armin, thank you👍
Hi everyone! I need some advices please. I recently received a Jackal Archery Assyrian Bow, a very beautiful piece even if they didn't specifically respected my order^^. I would like to put a beautiful flemish string on it but my bow seller told me to be careful. A flemish string might be untwisted if you use it on a horse bow. What do you think? Any retex? Thank you very much. Have a nice day! ;-)
Hope you've been alright dude. Was thinking I hadn't seen you for a while. I'm not in the socials anymore so I don't have a clue what's going on. Take it easy.
how much would it matter on a bow with a string bridge? friend of mine makes flemish strings a lot cheaper than what i can buy in a store, just dont know how the flemish twist will behave on the edges of the string bridge. dont want it very abbrasive
Flemish strings are a lot louder on my bow then the thin infinite loop strings as they have braided loops which are thicker, I like them on longbows and recurves but not on horsebows as they feel different on them. Still you can safely shoot both of them and have fun. Thanks Armin!
Hi Armin, Thanks for reviewing my string. As always, an interesting, thorough and unbiased review. Nice job.

Mr. Armin Good to see you in action. Glasses make you look much wiser and more elegant🤓
The bunny is like"Time to bounce".
I personally have never gotten along with flemish twist strings. Welcome back Sifu Armin.
Off topic, but you can see rolling shutter effect at 5:38 which is pretty cool

Not much difference
Surprised by the difference in sound! Didn't expect that.
NIce to see you again......
I have a Kheshig on order - exciting times! Thanks for the inspiration Armin. 🙏
Thank you very much for posting.

7:16 It's the Magic Arrow Bunny!!! 🐇😃
Not sure since there are no measurements, but looks like the brace heights are different, so shorter (Flemish) will be louder.

Hi Armin
Nice Video. What feathers do you use in the Video?
The 7" Ottoman military style?
If yes, do you use a brace hight of 7,5"?
Yeah from the feather cutting tools from Fairbow
Sounds like the Flemish loops are producing a greater slapping sound when it meets the bow limbs.
I've been meaning to ask, what chronograph are you using?
Was ist das für ein Geschwindigkeitsmesser, den du benutzt.

Have you seen compound arrows used for flight archery?
nice glasses! good to see you making videos still 😁
Nothing to do with the string but, missed you and your videos!

I would be very careful. This bows does not like being twisted and a Flemish can cause that...
@@ArminHirmer OK, thank you very much Armin. I will go ask to another specialist to be sure.
Have a nice week end!

We’re both string made of the same material?

Where ya been, Brother? At least I know, NOW, that all is well? Still waiting on my "Simon's Bow Company" vs "Tartar" comparison!!! Missed ya, Brother
Servus! Cooles Video Armin, aber des laute Rauschen... Ham die in den letzten Wochen bei Dir a Autobahn vorbei gebaut.. 😉
Mikro arbeitet nicht so gut mit neuer Kamera

Will you bring back 3 minute Friday, Armin?
I missed your video
Erste!!! Prem’s don’t see the video just EGO!!
Richard lionheart👍😎
the colours are off a bit
please use the original camera+audio setup
Do you always shoot horsebows off the thumb side of the bow? I dont know anything about horsebows but it just seems wrong to me, a total newb.
Also looks like you are not really anchoring. Is that also a horsebow thing or an eye glasses thing? Just trying to learn.
I did some videos about it, they will explain
@@ArminHirmer Thank you. I'll check it out.
Nothing like the original. The flemish twist in my opinion would be to heavy. Thanks for showing us.
I love that you still call your bow "The Mighty Kheshig!" ... I think I'll go shoot my cute little Qinghai.
Easy to put silencers on
Endless loop is always preferable on a horsebow.
