Great little guitar you've got there! Looks like you assembled to suit your tastes. After seeing your video I've decided I'm better off keeping the troublesome original bridge and saddles.

Wait, your buffer circuit, you played your Jaguar and you were like "I like this but you know what it needs? More treble and bite...."? LOL. My single coil MIM jag is so twangy it makes a Telecaster sound like a bass guitar.

    Modded Mustang bridge sounds great!

My Jazzmaster has an angled neck pocket and original bridge with 9-46 strings and they don't jump out of the small grooves no matter how hard I hit it. Try shimming the neck to get more pressure on the bridge.

Hi Bro. I came here from your les tremolo. One question for you: I have a J Macsis Jazzmaster. Technically J Macsis customized the jazzmaster replacing by tunomatic bridge. However I recently detected a failure: any time I try to do a Bending on Freet 12 & above, the strings Is trapped by the bridge radio and the note Is killed. Do you think that rolled bridge would help with this issue? Does this rolled one adjust the height of middle strings to match the neck radious? Thanks in advance

    •  2 месяца назад +1

@@aristidesvillegas7167 that one supposedly has a 9.5" fretboard radius and the tune-o-matic style bridges usually always have a 12" radius. It might be possible that the current squire bridge is a radius mismatch, it just makes just a small difference in string action on the top and bottom strings

I've used the Wilkinson Roller Bridge on 2 different Gretsch guitars with Bigsbys and they are real quality work! In my case, they were a drop in replacement so it was a no brainer. I was very happy with their performance and, yes, rollers DO NOT suck tone like many seem to think. They are also exceptionally comfortable when you palm mute. I can also verify I had gotten a chinese knockoff by mistake and the side-by-side quality comparison is like night & day!

I also really like them. I have 2 of them to try out on TOM bridge guitars :)

The strings pop out of the saddles because there’s not enough down pressure over the bridge. Leo designed the Jaguar to have a shimmed neck, but for whatever reason the factory doesn’t shim them (at least not Squier). If you put a 1° down angle on the neck and raise the bridge then you have enough downward tension and the strings don’t pop off the saddles. It’s a setup issue not a bridge issue.

    •  2 года назад

Having the neck an an angle would definitely help, yes. I think the issue if strings popping out happens mostly with the vintage bridge, that have the saddles with the many tiny groves

I tried one of the Chinese knockoff roller bridges on my Mascis Jazzmaster, it literally sucked tone out of the guitar, tried it for a day and threw the original Tuneomatic style bridge back in again, all good.

No way, you're a jaguar nerd! Your guitar setup sounds very nice, how pleased are you with warmoth's "fret job"? I guess you're using high action to get the notes this clear, right? (Btw, you should totally play casiopea with this guitar, it's perfect for their sound!)

    •  3 года назад +1

thank you. The Warmoth fret job was great right out of the box on all my 4 Warmoths so far. I have "regular" action, or "low" depending on who you ask. Usually, high action gives you a warmer sound. Cool, I like Casiopea :)

I appreciate the advice, although I had already bought a knockoff roller bridge (which displayed exactly the same issues as the one you showed, including one of the saddles not being flush with the floor of the bridge). That modified Warmoth bridge is new to me - never seen it mentioned before. At 55 USD that is a real contender I will definitely consider, although after shipping and import tariffs, who knows what actual price I will end up paying... Still, great video, so many thanks for that.

Ordering that bridge from Warmoth to be delivered outside of the USA might be quite expensive, yes. You could instead try to find the Wilkinson (or Boston etc) roller bridge. The real ones should cost around 25$/€ (or maybe 30 due to all the inflation)

@ Thank you, sounds like words of wisdom!
By the way, the different string spacing on the Mustang bridges (seems to be from 55 to 56 mm) seems like it may not be ideal for the string spread over the fretboard? A tighter string spacing of around 52 mm like I assume the roller bridges have, should help prevent the E's slipping off the fretboard, right?

    •  2 года назад +1

@@meadish that's true. Both bridges worked fine for me, but on a more narrow neck, the Mustang bridge might cause problems with the high e slipping off.

der buffer ist schonmal sehr geil!!! was war das für einer ? dachte buffer macht nur sinn mit sehr langen kabeln effektketten aber das war schonmal supernice :)

    •  3 года назад

Gitarren testen :)

Wow great channel - can you do a video on upgrading the tremolo on the Jaguar. I got a player series jag just now by fender and the tremolo is awful. Awful! Nothing like a mustang one. My jag one barely moves! So I think it’s broke and need to replace! Subscribed anyway these are my videos!

    •  2 года назад

the trem on the player series should be alright. Maybe the middle screw needs adjusting, which changes the tension of the spring underneath the trem. It should be set so the trem movement is around its middle position when the strings are tuned up. Maybe this helps :)

Roller bridge seems like less dyn range and more aggressive, sharp sound. About harmonics - right.

    Try a Mastery M1 bridge.
