So yeah, even an average playthrough is unlikely to last long enough to get the good prizes

0:36 Unless I'm forgetting and it's also in the original, a nice detail added in the remake is that each dish has its combination of animations - here for example she uses a knife for the second one while in others she adds seasoning, pan-fries for the third one while in others boils in a pot and so on. What I know for sure wasn't in the original is that now you can skip these cutscenes, so convenient!
5:58 Fun fact, in the original the Happy Lucky Lottery is a scam because you have to wait between x to y days for the fourth prize, another amount of days after that for the third etc. and if you change number that counter resets. Now, I don't know how it works exactly in the remake, but I've been able to win the fourth price several times already so it seems at least somewhat better.

In short: do this
Drag the left thumbstick right then quickly tug it to the left, then after that, to reduce speed loss, tilt the left thumbstick left (QUICKLY, IN SUCCESSION WITH EACH OTHER!!!) three times, then leave the stick to neutral for a moment then rinse and repeat for profit (you have to do the movement pretty quickly tho, in like, this timing: rightleft, - - - - - leftleftleft, still... rightleft, - - - - - leftleftleft)
You can pretty consistently get past 500 if you do that tho im pretty sure you could go as far as 600 or 700 if you do it well enough

I am curious if any of the tech surrounding that scam of a lottery has updated... I'd imagine not, but with how the original takes... a *considerable* length of time to get the big prize, I'd hope someone realized that no way was someone going to be keeping a save of this game running for over a year. You'd also think that the cheat detection would have improved, too, over all those years. Could devote additional dates and such to spare memory or something - but I guess that'd be too much of a hassle to set up. I guess that *does* add to the nostalgia factor, though...!
I... don't know *why* I remember this, but that little Toad kid by the grate was there in the original. He wasn't cowering, of course, I think he was just meandering around - but I'd wager that he's there for the same reason you surmised he's there now for. I guess something about the "I know what's down there, and I don't want to go down there!" line just... stuck in my head, or something.
@librus8680 I just made a super long comment about it, but nope, besides switching second and first prize around, nothing has changed. Except for the fact that you can now cheat the lottery and get away with it, but that would take another couple paragraphs to succinctly explain and I've already typed it out once.
(Though the TLDR is: Change your date back to normal when you win first prize, but before getting your new ticket.)
