There is a big difference between "you CAN park there" and you're ALLOWED to park there. I CAN park inside the mall, but I'm not ALLOWED to and there are consequences to my idiocy!
It's not that they don't understand, it's that they just don't care. Reminds me of this cognitive experiment that was run to understand the mechanics of decision making; I forget the details, but the bottom line was that it discovered that when people are presented with enough details, they'll automatically make a decision in a heartbeat on instinct alone, but then they'll take a span of time to try and justify that decision to themselves. Basically, by the time you think you need to decide something, it's already been decided, and all you're really doing is coming to terms with a choice that was already made. Because it's based on instinct, there's really only a handful of factors that come into play, and one is the instinct of herd preservation: namely, people will assume that if a bad thing were to happen, it'll happen to a different member of the herd than them, but once the bad thing DOES happen and they've seen that the choice has negative consequences, they'll then stop doing it; basically, the monkey will wait to see if the other monkey dies after eating the berries it doesn't know, and will eat them based on whether the first dies of poison. Long story short, I guarantee you if all the superficial justifications are stripped away, every illegal parker will have the exact same story: I thought I could get away with it because it felt like I could get away with it and I didn't see anyone else getting caught, so I rolled the dice in the hopes that if someone did get towed, it wouldn't be me... but now that it IS me and I HAVE been caught, my mind will now Mad Libs a story together in a desperate attempt to post hoc justify my actions, because realistically this is the first time my logical faculties have been tasked in this scenario, and I wasn't really thinking before.
So for people curious. This area has limited parking. This hotel has one parking spot for each guest. Many of the people bring multiple vehicles and expect to have parking for their entire herd. Instead of calling the hotel prior to booking and asking about parking, this is what happens.
I have been taking notes , I am learning where not to stay , where not to park and I know now that in Gatlinburg TN that if you are not paying to park that you are doing something wrong. Oh and stay out of 25 , 26 and 27 and I think there is a spot 28 too. LOL
I agree. Will not be staying there for sure. We were very careful while visiting. Kept our hotel sign on the mirror and double checked parking spaces. Gatlinburg to me is overrated… we prefer Pigeon Forge👍
Jeff, Exciting parking lot drama. Police called and everything. No cop and no employee of any hotel is going to tell someone they can park in a private lot.
The Gatlinburg police have got to be so annoyed with having to deal with parking issues in that town. But, it's the nature of that particular job in that particular city. So, I guess the police just have to deal with it everytime. LOL This is a great channel find!
I would pay to hear the conversation between the red-car woman and the hotel staff. I would have said to these people, "what if you came home and found someone parked on your lawn, or in your driveway, and the driver said that an officer gave permission?". I look at tow truck business totally different after watching this channel and parkingrevenge channel.
😂🤣I am NOT yelling at you, I am screaming. Today the mystery police officer, yesterday THEY told us to park there. Where am I supposed to park? 😠😠what a waste of time!
The funny thing is the is pay lots by space needle for 15 dollars ,yah no over night parking, but people need to pay attention if you park illegally then expect to get towed PERIOD!, we come down every year and all you have to do is READ THE SIGNS, Jeff you are a very professional patient man.
I got an idea, don't patronize the Country Inn because once they sell the room they seem not to care about their customers. I keep hearing over and over the staff give instructions to park in unauthorized spaces. The customers really need to pay attention to the signs and comply. No excuses!
It really seems like they're told to park in the overflow lot and people are too self important to park that far away and pull into the first open spot they find.
While I agree that this business seems to be at the heart of the parking issue, it seems that people aren't being told where the overflow lot is by the "hotel" and people assume it's the nearest dirt/empty spot.
So glad I found your channel! Really enjoy it! The family really enjoys when we can get a way to Gatlinburg ❤ Most importantly I’m so super excited to hear about this hotel on almost every video so we absolutely know where not to stay bc they obviously don’t have enough parking for the amount of rooms they rent. I do have the sense to never park in a No Parking area 😊But the amount of drama this place gets is not very good advertising. Apparently they don’t see it this way. Anyway I enjoy following you guys and seeing all the sights ❤stay safe ❤
I would love to see the video of the conversation with the car owners and the police. Soooo. They were told of the overflow lot and chose not to park there. It was their choice to try their luck parking here.
It just blows my mind how these people go thru a laundry list of excuses why they can park there. They hear what they want to hear. They need to research the area before they travel. Or, bring lots of money to pay for illegal parking.
I have seen this type of situation many times. Gullible people who know that they are doing something wrong claim that someone else told them that what they were doing was OK, and that everything after that is not their fault. Life is tough. It's tougher when you're gullible.
LOL! This mysterious officer who told them that they could park there. 3 important questions: what was his/her name. When did they say you could park there. and.. Do you have anything in writing. The officers who are there with Jeff could handle the situation quite expeditiously by telling them to leave the property now or be arrested for trespassing.
Lmao that would be the icing on the cake, being arrested for trespassing because you had illegally parked on private property, and a tow truck has already hooked up your vehicle and your trying to say that a police officer said you could park on private property and everything would be okay, even the cops know that line is pure BS and they are considering running your butt in for being liars and stupid 😅
Well sorry but the police don’t have the authority to say you can park on private property. They don’t get to make the rules on private property and they don’t get to make the rules on public property. They enforce the law and that’s it!!!!! Public Servants only!!!!! It’s not his problem the cop told you he could park there!!!!!
Someone need to find out who the police officer is that told them to park there, your are doing your job and shouldn't have to put up with all those people!
Another long time since this happened . . . . . . Jeff you are a very patient man and this man just can't or refuses to understand that he was told wrong, by an Officer or not, and that he CANNOT park on property not owned by the hotel even though its just across the street, and even after the Supervisor(?) explained it he STILL wanted to argue the point. The other guy didn't have any wood on the fire because you weren't hooked up to their car but he also wanted to argue the point of being "given permission" to park on private property. I'd speculate that Country Inn gets bad reviews from the parking aspect, I don't know . . . . . and STILL the guy wants to argue about "I told you to do so before . . . . " GEEEEZ guy, again the Police have no authority to say yes or no you can park on private property without permission from the owner
Points to consider: 1. The cops know that EA must call in all tows. 2. Many cops, not necessarily GPD, are highly arrogant. 3. The two different citizens making up the same story is unlikely. 4. The cop, if they did it, will never admit it. Great vid!!!!!!!!!!!
Those three were incredibly annoying. If I say what I really think of the diminutive loud-mouthed woman, I'll be banned from RUclips. You handled it well. Whereas it's easy to armchair-quarterback, I would have countered the ad nauseum claims of "The cop told us to park here" with "Can you prove that?", likewise infinitum. Just sayin'.

What may have happened regarding this hotel is that it was possibly built before city parking rules were established. Many hotels have a requirement to have one parking space per room in their hotel plus a certain number of employee parking spaces. Nonconforming older buildings (prior to parking space requirements) are either grandfathered in or allowed to establish the required parking on a remote lot. However, there are sometimes specific rules regarding these remote lots. Some cities require the remote lot to be connected to the hotel by a continuous sidewalk from the remote lot to the hotel. The only way the one space per room can be enforced is if the hotel issues only 1 hang tag per room with additional vehicles required to be parked in paid parking. The overflow lot would be only for guests who have a hang tag but cannot find a space in the hotel's immediate parking lot. Then the hotel would have to hire an employee to enforce the parking at its immediate and its overflow lot. For myself, I would never stay at a hotel where I had to park in some remote parking lot.
😳 This Karen/Ken couple from Florida need to go back home. Who is this mystery person that goes around night and day telling people to park in a no parking lot.😂😂
So pay the fee to drop the car then send a demand letter to the police department for reimbursement along with your evidence that you relied on the officer's instruction. Witnesses, affidavits and audio or video if you have it. It is a civil matter and you do have a civil case. But the burden of proof is on you.
The Police Sergeant said he was going to review the police officers body cam to see exactly what the officer said, if he gave permission. Wish we had a follow up about who was telling the truth, the officer or the people in the red car and the van owner. Both said officer gave permission and even explained that the tow company calls into HQ when they tow from private lot. I sort of believe the people.
Lol. I don’t want you walking around my van pointing out the dings…lol…she’s an 07 and has quite a few…but she’s paid for and at 110k miles she’s been dependable. Love your videos!!!
For hotels, the Gatlinburg Municipal Zoning Ordinance requires "one parking space for each room, plus 2." This is a pretty typical requirement for limited service hotels anywhere in the USA. Country Inn & Suites has 77 rooms, so they should have at least 79 parking spaces. They actually have just 55 on-site parking spaces, far short of the legal requirement. According to Everything Auto, they also have a remote parking lot, but it is not adjacent, and it is not under the same ownership, so I cannot tell where it is located. Moreover, nobody expects to rent a hotel room in a podunk town like Gatlinburg and walk 2-3 blocks to park their car. I have little sympathy for people who cannot read signs, but Country Inn is also complicit by failing to provide adequate parking for their guests. Honestly, is there anybody who has ever seen an EA video who would even consider booking a room at Country Inn? The problem is exacerbated by the nature of visitors to Gatlinburg. It seems to be a popular meeting ground for kinfolk throughout Appalachia, who bring families from far and wide to congregate in Gatlinburg. Based on demographics, my hunch is that this particular hotel actually needs at least 2 parking spaces for each room.
10:46 those idiots after they got permission should have made sure to get a business card from that cop so they could know who to blame and have a talk with the cop about why he is telling people to park on private property
LOL there is a youtube channel "gtoger" run by a guy who owns a parking lot and films it as cars get towed....and the homeless guys have tried to make it a scam several times, there's more than one video on that :)
Note to self: NEVER patronize that motel! What a sorry excuse for motel management! He said-she said...irrelevant whining. Luckily cooler heads prevailed, the GPD are great! Y'all ROCK!
I live in Ohio smaller town around 50,000 my police dept would not have spent that much time being patient with people and they probably considered lady disorderly. I am a police scanner listener and could almost guarantee they wouldn't have spent that much time with them but we do have a lot of crime here so maybe that might be why more important things to do. Gotta give you and them big credits for patience. Also you don't have to answer this but I would be having me some protection mace weapon something
Do not use a back up alarm! Doing private property towing...they don't respect the property owner...so they will not respect you....will lie, threaten you..say anything to get out of paying ..at least you are filming...I have been accused of everything including asking sexual favors...ugh be safe!! GOD BLESS
I see a lot of people blaming Country Suites for not explaining the parking clearly. I think it's the people that are not listening clearly and choosing to park where they want because it's closer. People are lazy and don't want to accept the consequences of there actions.
Why do they always think the signs don't apply to them? Why do they ever think that the cops in the town where you work will ever side with them when it comes to breaking the law?
I've been watching this channel on and off for some years, but decided to go to the 1st video and watch it all from the beginning. This video....wow. It a perfect example of, some people hear what they Want to hear and not what has actually been said. Also they seem more worried about other cars parked out there that they think are illegal than the fact that they illegally parked too. I've seen small children do similar things when they get in trouble...and instead of owning their own bad behavior, they will point at their sibling or friend and pout that 'they did it too.' to deflect from their own behavior and the consequences involved.
I find it interesting that the lady with the red Camaro was literally driving away but then immediately stopped and got out just to stand there and argue. She lucky you didn’t go there with your roll back and grabbed both cars at the same time.
Either pay the drop fee, or there towing the car. This guy does this kind of stuff all the time. Probably gets away with it too many times. He's paying the price tonight.
This video was confusing did the police department tell yal to drop the car it was hard to tell what happened. The City of Gatlinburg needs to get everything figured out with as many vacationers they have coming every year.
No the vehicle owners we’re trying to say that a police officer told them they could park in that lot. This was not true as this is a private lot that an officer has no control over. The vehicle owner did pay us a drop fee and moved the vehicle.
@@EverythingAutos ook I totally understand I come to Gatlinburg on a yearly basis for vacation the City needs to get everything figured out and do something about parking with as many vacationers they have coming during the season .
@@EverythingAutos as a cop, we have no say over private lots. that the person who owns that lot say so. we got no say over private lots. mad dude is wrong.
I didn't like that lady with the red Mustang...very disrespectful stomping out her cigarette like that. I wish the police had hit her up with a littering charge.
Just curious but have you ever towed a car or truck twice in a single day? Because someone didn’t get the message or to stubborn to know the difference 😅. Some people just don’t or won’t understand.
He was obviously bullshitting about a cop telling him to park there, but even if a cop did tell him that it doesn't mean anything. What kind of powers does he think a cop has? lol. It's not like a police badge gives you the legal authority to allow other people to trespass on other people's private property.
So... you drop the wife and 4 kids off at the door and drive to the other lot and walk back ... ...gee and next time stay somewhere else . We’ve been to GATLINBURG Enough to know the parking is a game, searching for a spot . But the hotel should not cause this mess ,Sorry for these folks misunderstanding
Bottom line it doesn’t matter who told him to park there. The owner of the property wants you gone. If someone was parked in this guys driveway illegally they would do the same thing. Call a tow truck.
There is a big difference between "you CAN park there" and you're ALLOWED to park there. I CAN park inside the mall, but I'm not ALLOWED to and there are consequences to my idiocy!
I struggle to accept that there are still people who need private property explained.
Unfortunately there still out there

Where did big boy come from?? Suddenly he is doing all the talking to the cops.! Was he even in any of the offending cars???
I am watching this in 2024 and still wanted to reach through the screen and throttle old Achmed !

Based on demographics, my hunch is that this particular hotel actually needs at least 2 parking spaces for each room.
Podunk town ….really
10:46 those idiots after they got permission should have made sure to get a business card from that cop so they could know who to blame and have a talk with the cop about why he is telling people to park on private property
I heard of a homeless guy..that was telling people they could park for 20dllrs..and was collecting till tow showed up than he ran off...laughing
LOL there is a youtube channel "gtoger" run by a guy who owns a parking lot and films it as cars get towed....and the homeless guys have tried to make it a scam several times, there's more than one video on that :)
I just watched some old GToger and saw that one. Dudes waving them into the spots. Uh oh here come the Drumbeats.😂 😂
So now we have a phantom cop, ok I guess
You guys don't make enough to deal with all the drama associated with this career.
My town has 3000 ppl. 50k seems like a big city to me lol!
Do not use a back up alarm! Doing private property towing...they don't respect the property owner...so they will not respect you....will lie, threaten you..say anything to get out of paying ..at least you are filming...I have been accused of everything including asking sexual favors...ugh be safe!! GOD BLESS
Signs mean nothing to some people. As they never seem to see them . What a joke.
Wish the police would have fined that woman for littering with her cigarette butt being left on the ground at 20:00. 🚯🚭
Yeah, a policeman told them, sure I believe that!
Gatlinburg town council need to fix this parking issue!!!
Why is the lady mad if her car isn't hooked?
Too bad she wasn't towed first
That one woman that moved her car,she needs to be quiet and mind her own business.
I love the dolly system. How cool is it to push the car where it’s easy to pickup.😁
Either pay the drop fee, or there towing the car. This guy does this kind of stuff all the time. Probably gets away with it too many times. He's paying the price tonight.
20:00 Lady just littered right in front of the police lol
Haha I literally thought the same thing. Cigarette filters are forever. Disgusting.
Gru is very angry that the rules also apply to him lol
Yeah, l couldn't really hear/follow everything either. Hope the towers didn't miss out on their drop fee.
Is tow company associated. In any way with parking areas they tow from??
No
I didn't like that lady with the red Mustang...very disrespectful stomping out her cigarette like that. I wish the police had hit her up with a littering charge.
Just curious but have you ever towed a car or truck twice in a single day? Because someone didn’t get the message or to stubborn to know the difference 😅. Some people just don’t or won’t understand.
Nope, never had to tow the same illegally parked car twice thankfully!
The early bird gets the hotel parking space. The hotel really should get better lighting in the overflow parking lot so customers feel safe.
He should of said that he has "Diplomatic Immunity."
The Police can now give private citizens permission to park in private lots that the Police does not own?
New subscriber .binge watching weekend 😊
As Anchorman would say "boy..........that escalated quickly. I mean that really jumped out of hand fast."
San Diego.... translates to "a whales vagina."
Go fuck yourself San Diego! Lol
The illegal gravel parkers are ridiculous.!! Boy she was quick to jump in her car and move it. Then come back to argue nonsense again.
20 min in she throws her cig but on the ground in front of the PD, should have gave her a ticket. Just saying.
I was thinking the same thing.
Bottom line it doesn’t matter who told him to park there. The owner of the property wants you gone. If someone was parked in this guys driveway illegally they would do the same thing. Call a tow truck.
Never knew so many people can’t read signs. 🙄
did the guy end up paying?
