    As a guy who's been using guitar synths since the late 80's I've never had an issue with just buying a synth rack and just getting the authentic sounds I needed. I understand the ease of incorporating it on your pedal board but it still sounds simulated. It sounds good but It's a fun box and I prefer the real deal.
    Still buying one... for medicinal purposes you understand.

    • @johnsmits2494
      @johnsmits2494 3 года назад

      That’s it’ , a fun box. Like buying a $250 Casio synth/ keyboard, cool diversion, but the simulations don’t always hit 80-90% of the original sound. Also why does Boss always in these types of pedals have so many hi-fi sounds???

    • @Motocicleiros
      @Motocicleiros Год назад

      With all respect, saying that a 1980s guitar synth rack is better than a 2020s synth pedal is like trying to compare an IBM card computer with a modern PC (and say that the old IBM is better). It can only be a joke. I understand anyone who have spent thousands of dollars in expensive equipment can get mad when they release a small box that does exactly the same thing for less than $200 and that yet can be used with a $100 guitar, but it's Life. Finally, I can ensure that anyone who tells can spot if the sound is coming from a Roland rack or from a Boss pedal when everything is all mixed down into a song, is lying. Anyway, the _only_ reason why in the 1980s they used hexaphonic pickups, racks and all that sh*t is because there wasn't available technology at the time to do it with a pedal. Otherwise we wouldn't be having this conversation.

      @trollslandan 5 лет назад +1

      On the contrary. I was hoping Boss would make just as good or better sounds&selections than the ElectroHarmonix do but its just not as good. They seem to duplicate from the same selection which are in their other pedals such as GR55. Thats dissappointing so hopefully they can let the user download his preferences from a growing selection down to the pedal. Presets would be good also so there wouldn't have to be a lot of crawling on the floor for each song.
      The 'freeze' mode on it sounds like something I want to test though.

    • @trollslandan
      @trollslandan 5 лет назад +1

      What would really set them apart would be to incorporate that one could choose and set from which pitch upwards/downwards the tracking will react ie. playing bass strings-> activating bass synth or playing any high fret activating X synth.

    I've messed around with guitar synths for years. I tried the Roland 707 just after it came out, buying the GR-20, eventually the GR-55. All suffered from poor tracking to some degree but the major problem for me is the strange whistles and monkey noises it puts out if you miss hit a note or it doesn't recognize it. Pity, I really wanted to love them. This looks like its solved their faults pretty well. maybe it'll signal the start of the guitar synth age!

I don't think my bandmates would like it if I got replaced. I'm actually considering buying this for the extra tones I could get during the songs where I switch to guitar. I'm very impressed with the polyphonic tracking. I remember the early days of having to have the special pickup installed on the guitar just to get the multi-string tracking.
