Love the fact that you put "no blues licks" in the title. I knew I couldn't be the only one who is SO OVER that crap. It's like the grown man equivalent of how teenagers mostly all look alike even though they each think they're expressing their individual unique styles. We're not impressed. Also great video! I have owned this pedal for about a year and still haven't discovered its full potential. Seemingly endless possibilities, so much fun to mess around with.
Finally, a review of the pedal and tones. No stupid annoying commentary. No jerks showing their big fat faces instead of the product. This is great. Subscription added!!!
Absolutely best demo I've seen of this and what will probably sell me on it. Even blues aside I see a lot of other guitarists (even good ones!) struggle to really get a sound out of it either treating it like a fancy modulation effect or an lush ambient machine. The pads as tones you used for staccato honestly got some beautiful lead synth sounds I haven't heard in other demos. Great work.
Never been a better time to be into music tech. Pedals and sound modules from the past and what's around now. Pity I gave up doing music years ago as I'd be splashing even more cash now than I did back then.
Thanks for posting this. I've ordered the damn pedal, can't wait for it to arrive. Meanwhile I'm looking for inspirational vids like yours - no solos, just bits of music - for future compositions.
I just got mine today, I love this damn thing. I'm mainly going to be using it to build backing tracks so I can noodle endlessly in my garage. I made two quick videos today a few minutes after it was delivered. My first impressions are that I'm going to have a lot of fun. Here are two links to my page if you are interested. Nothing special as I literally just got it. ruclips.net/video/taqfXtEguUw/видео.html ruclips.net/video/FxDuGNpAaDw/видео.html
I just got this a week ako and haven't tested it yet. I have three questions: 1. If I'm going to use it for guitar or bass, where should I put this on the chain? 2. For me to explore its tonal possibilities, should I first compose the dry sound to my looper pedal and fiddle with the SY-1 while the sound is in loop? 3. Can I put this on Send/Return effects loop of an amp together with the looper and other modulation pedals? Thanks a bunch!
How does it sound like when you slap the string with your thumb or left hand fingers or when you attack the string in a harsh way with your pick lets say? Does it actually register such sounds and how does it respond to them? Thank you btw. for this gorgeous demonstration.
Jesus I love the blues I love shred I love technical metal stuff but I think I’ve reached the point where if I hear guitarists playing that it’s just like ugh here we go again. So tired of it. Having said that this was an awesome demo.
Say Hi¡ from Argentina¡ I got a question on this ¨blue little guy¨. This polyphonic..great¡ but Does play two strings or three strings maximun before to asonant crash? Really excuse me for my english? I hope you understand the doubt¡ Thanks and Greeting¡
It depends the mode. Some modes, it’s tracks basic chords perfectly. On other modes the tracking after 3 notes can be a little odd. It’s one of the best pedals out there for tracking tho
@@PedalboardoftheDay I tried two synth pedals The day I decided to buy this one, and the main reason I chose the SY-1 is because the tracking. It can’t be beaten.
Amazing demo ! But isn't it sad to put "no blues licks" in the title ? It feels like it became such a thing that those who do it differently must show it... Well actually I'm happy that there's no blues licks, I'm far from from a blues player
@@PedalboardoftheDay well that work, at first I laughed at the title, only afterwards I was like "wow this is sad" By the way, keep it up ! You're doing an amazing job reviewing these pedals this way
I very much like blues, but I do get completely tired of how it's the only approach most demos seem to take. Jimi was a phenomenal blues musician, but he didn't just wank 12 bars all day-- in 1983 he became a Mer-person, for example. If one of the highest deities of electric guitar could expand, so can you-- and that is a service to blues, not an insult. I will always have the blue note in my playing, but I intend to explore beyond the Blue Planet, as well. Thank you for your joke and demo.
What's the point on testing this pedals soloing and shredding like Malmsteen? This thing is supposed to emulate a keyboard! The guy and the title are completely right! In fact, if you're using a "keyboard pedal" you should play it like a keyboard! 😜
Someone in the comments suggested a 'No Blues Licks' page some time ago, so I checked the search engine (🤓). Every annoying, mostly middle aged 'blooze' tutorial came up. Blues is easy to play, and you can make faces as a substitute for emotional content. But it would've been nice if I could've found a 'No Blues Licks' page on my initial search.
This is the way gear should be demo’d. i hope other youtubers are watching. When we go searching for stuff we dont need you taking that as an excuse for a twenty minute, pentatonic, coma-inducing solo. We are not interested in your endless talking or noodling. Learn from this, please. This guy is getting sub after sub. That should tell you something.
@@PedalboardoftheDay I've got a Fender studio 40 digital bass amp with built-in effects like overdrive n fuzz etc...If I put the Sy1 into the front and fuzz effects on in my amp it would sound decent prob..🤘
Hard to say, they’re both great. I prefer the SY-1 since it’s a little easier to jot down settings and recreate them. You really need a an additional pedal to save settings on the Enzo
Oh god thank you. Why don't shop guitarists understand ?! Only morons are fooled by the sound of shredding. The notes move so fast you can't hear the tone the pedal is creating.
"Pad mode offers fuller tones that work great with chords. I prefer to use it for the opposite!" Way to go, bro!
Make a “no blues licks” page for the love of God
No blues licks, no talking for a long ass time. Perfect.
Subbed

Like given just for the title. Thanks for the demo!
Me too! Is a good demo, though.
Straight up subbed because of the title of this video. No blues licks or solos...THANK YOU.
thank you for turning the depth and tone knobs
Perfect repeating lick to demo the pedal with.
I could listen to that for ages.
Very arty sci-fi.

A perfect title for this pedal
I want some fuzz pedal demos with this title!
Awesome demo, I really liked your choice of licks for this pedal and your knob tweaking.

I instantly liked this video before even watching it for “no blues licks or solos”.
You can also make it sound like a guitar. Excellent.
best vid i have seen on this pedal , i have just bought one , good close up of settings and no show off shredding ;)
Wow thanks so much! I’m happy you liked it!
🎶This GUY is CRYIN'!!!!🎵(seriously tho, great demo of some awesome sounds)
Wow, this is pretty wild. Crazy this is all coming from one pedal!
Liked and subscribed based on the title alone.
Glad you like it :) Hope you enjoy the rest of our content!
So glad you're reviewing the pedal based on its actual usage parameters cheers
hands-down the best demo of this pedal I have ever seen. thank you.
Im glad you enjoyed it!!
Love the title

pedal of the year with the mooer
Sounds almost like a trumpet in some cases. Interesting pedal.

You can use the Boss SY in Blues licks --- there's no limits in music.
How am I supposed to know what this pedal sounds like without a middle aged real estate agent playing white-guy "blues" into it? 😆
This shit killed me 🤣

Hi. Can this pedal replicate the synth sounds of 7th son álbum of iron maiden ? Thanks a lot....
No
So freakin cool!
through guitar amp or powered PA speaker? good demo
It has sounded great no matter what I put it through
thanks!!!!
You are most welcome
5:04 sounds like the synth in the outro of Head Like a Hole by Nine Inch Nails.
Thanks¡ for answers¡
Better than Keely Synth? Should I return mines before it comes? Let me know!
The Keeley is monophonic is it not? I prefer the boss bc it’s polyphonic. But trust your ears!
@@PedalboardoftheDay good point didnt think of that shoot! I'll give it a run and maybe swap it. Or might use both! Thanks!
It's truly difficult to stick to a sound and to try to get the best of it
Is that an expression input for an expression pedal?
Yup! :)
But that’s why I bought my synth pedal?
Finally.
Where would you put this in your chain?
I put it after my gain section in case I need some type of volume boost. Also, I like the way it affects the gain.
You can send the synth sound and guitar sound out separately to different fx and speakers. So I'd say it goes first in the chain.
Gracias!, estaba harto de "héroes de la guitarra" estirando la cuerda..
