- Lo Stipa-Caproni fu un velivolo sperimentale italiano degli anni trenta, che può essere considerato un precursore dei successivi aviogetti. Caratterizzato da una sorta di fusoliera-carlinga-tunnel che racchiudeva un motore ed elica per aumentare l'efficienza del sistema propulsivo, dando all'aereo il nome caratteristico di ala a turbina poi chiamato elica intubata. Scherzosamente venne etichettato come "aereo botte", o "aereo barile".Venne ideato dall'ingegnere Luigi Stipa, e fu realizzato come prototipo presso la Caproni di Milano Taliedo

This is the most bonkers aeroplane I've ever seen, but a really clever idea to put an engine inside a Venturi tunnel, I wonder if it inspired any other designs?

in those times the aesthetics as we see did not have much importance, it was a rather nuanced concept, :) stability in flight was probably sought. to appreciate the curiosity, creativity and the will to achieve.

Che peccato averlo smantellato, ai giorni nostri sarebbe stato bello ammirarlo in qualche museo e perchè no, in brevi apparizioni durante gli air-show. Interessante sapere che dall'altra parte del mondo, anche se in scala, questo tipo di velivolo continui a volare e stupire. Bel filmato, complimenti 👍

Ahahah vero però bisogna dire che in qualche modo il maestro Miyazaki è stato sempre affascinato dagli aerei italiani degli anni venti e trenta e soprattutto dalla figura di Gianni Caproni, basti pensare al film "si alza il vento", oppure "porco Rosso" o ancora Conan il ragazzo del futuro

Очень здорово! Идея явно не до конца развита! В этом что-то есть для поршневых движков того времени. Наверняка преобладал бы вариант 2-х движков по бокам фюзеляжа и с задним двойным оперением управления. Это решало бы с грузоподъемностью и полетом многое, движки - разное направление вращения!

The man in the front seat had a hatch below his feet - he could feed pasta into the propeller and make lasagna noodles on the fly. The women of the villages would pick it up and cook it.
The temperature in the cockpit was very High, is not impossibile that! However the man in the second seat was the First jet passenger in the world!

In realtà vi furono modelli successivi ma bisognerà attendere l'avvento dei turbogetti per far rinascere l'idea della ventola intubata e di conseguenza il motore turbofan o turboventola cioè quello che oggigiorno adottano tutti gli aeromobili a getto

Greater efficiency, lesser practicality!
Actually greater practicality for something the Italian military wasn't interested in. Its very slow stall speed, great stability and low noise, all with a smaller (read: drinks less fuel) engine, would be very practical for a civilian plane. But at that time the Italian military were more interested in fast, maneuverable designs that could be used as fighters. And the Stipa Capromi was, instead, actualy so stable that it would hinder its dogfighting performance. Such is life.

One could argue that is out board versus inboard engine design! The ventury effect was known of centuries prior but not viable due to technology restrictions!

Sicuramente si, se pensiamo ai successivi turbofan sappiamo benissimo che si tratta di un turbogetto con anteriormente posta una ventola, ovviamente stiamo parlando di die tecnologie completamente diverse ma affini per certi versi, questo bizzarro aereo è stato importante proprio per gli studi condotti sulle ventole intubate.

Mentre in Germania progettavano il messerschmit 109 e in Inghilterra lo spitfire noi facevamo sta cacata
Era un aereo sperimentale e come deve essere considerato. Siamo sempre negli anni 30 e gli studi effettuati su questo bizzarro aereo sono poi serviti per i moderni turbofan.
In ogni caso sia il ME 109 che lo Spitfire sono stati progettati dall'inizio come aerei da combattimento, mentre in questo caso è nato esclusivamente come aereo dimostrativo

In realtà no sul filmato e anche sulla documentazione del progettista c'è scritto che è un aereo puramente sperimentale, che serviva per dimostrare una nuova tecnologia, però se si legge di Stipa, egli aveva in mente di adottare questa soluzione tecnica su aerei ben più grandi e potenti come bombardieri che però rimasero solo su carta
