  • Just when we thought nothing could top our first day in the Dolomites, day two came along and blew us away! We spent our second day in Italy exploring Seceda, a gorgeous mountain area filled with huts with food and drinks, beautiful views, and animals! We then went to Ortisei for the St. Ulrich Festival and enjoyed German food and live music. It was an incredible day!

    I've been to Italy 12 times but never ventured to the Dolomites. I had no idea how breathtakingly gorgeous it is! I especially love the small town, village feel to it. Absolutely gorgeous! I don't know if I would ever be able to return to bella, bella Italia, but I will include the Dolomites, as well as Lago Garda and Lago Como. Beautiful video! You guys are so cute! Thanks.

      Prego! You're very welcome! I was amazed at what you filmed about the Dolomites, especially that gorgeous light teal colored lake. It knocked me out! It reminded me of the exquisite waters of Mykonos, Greece. I must see Lago Garda! It's calling me! I hope to one day return to Italy. I kind of doubt it, but I still hope I can, at least before I die. Thank you so much for replying and your gorgeous video!

      Hi there Guys! No, I haven't. All my trips have been to Europe, namely Italy (repeatedly) and Greece. I'm drawn to the ancient cultures, and IMHO, the most beautiful countries on earth. Therefore, I rather spend my time and money on such cultures and beauty. However, I will definitely check out Banff. Sounds absolutely beautiful!Guys, since you were so kind to give me the name of a song I liked in one of your videos, I want to return the favor and suggest you check out this gorgeous Italian song: Maradona y Pele by Thegiornalisti. It's indeed a bit of a cultural faux pas to call that region German (never say that in public), very much like calling Canadians Americans because they speak (almost) the same language. You were in South Tyrol, which always was Austrian, until they were annexed by Italy in 1919. They have a very autonomous status, and the majority of the population still speaks German as their mother tongue (although there have been many Italian-speaking 'immigrants' from further south, as the region is quite wealthy). There is still a state called Tyrol in Austria, and they have a strong relationship with their neighbours in South Tyrol. The other language, Ladin, is closely related to Romansh, the official fourth language of Switzerland. Ladin is a remnant of a local vulgar version of Latin, but developed separately from Italian (which is also derived from Latin). It is still spoken in other mountainous parts of northern Italy, Switzerland and Slovenia, but different names are used for the language (e.g. Friulian).

    Thanks for documenting your trip! We head to Italy for the first time on Tuesday and renting a car just to go to the Dolomites and we can't wait. Had already planned on Seceda first, and I was happy to see how the gondola and everything worked (knowing the price was super helpful too). Then a quick stop at Lago di Brailes, and then to Refugio Auronzo. We were trying to squeeze in both Tre Cime de Lavaredo and Lago di Sorapis hikes, but I think we'll only have time for one so we're going to do Tre Cime since we'll already be in the area. Thanks again and keep adventuring!

    I can't believe you're still replying to comments here. Great work.
    We first found you back in 2020, when we were planning to come to Seceda. We actually made it in June this year.
    I love this video and use it quite often to describe to my fellow Australians, what it is like to see some of the places in Europe. I tell them to go to 3:30 and watch your reaction when you get to the top. I have had that "speechless" moment a number of times. When you just stare and can only say one word, just trying to soak it all in. (Travel Beans have the same reaction in the same spot on their vlog) I know that feeling.
    WE DO NOT REMEMBER DAYS, WE REMEMBER MOMENTS. Cesare Pavese
    Good luck with where and what you're up to when you read this and keep adventuring.

    I can use some help planing my trip. I am planning to go to Seceda on May 23rd. It looks like most of the cable cars will not be in service except for Col Raiser. Any idea how long is the hike from the Col Raiser cable car arrival station to Seceda? I will arrive in the early afternoon so I am worried about not making it back in time for the last cable car at 5 pm. Thank you!

    Also, hard lesson learned re fuel stations. If you are renting a diesel vehicle be SURE it has enough AdBlue BEFORE you leave the rental lot. Running low on AdBlue can strand you. Rental companies should fill their diesels with AdBlue but never seem to bother. Wasted a day on one trip chasing AdBlue.

    My boyfriend and I have been planning a two-week (15 day) trip to Italy for a year and a half, due to covid our travel date has had to be pushed out. But your videos are very helpful in our planning and you two have inspired us to add the Dolomites to our itinerary.
    I have a question about Seceda, when I look online there are more than one cable car options, which one did you take?

    • @AdventuresofAplusK
      @AdventuresofAplusK  3 года назад

      Hi Stephanie! We are so sorry your trip has been pushed out 😭😭 But we’re glad you’re adding the Dolomites, it was the highlight of our time in Italy!
      There are two cable cars you’ll take to the top, Cable car Ortisei-Furnes and
      Cable car Furnes-Seceda. The first one starts in Ortisei and then part of the way up you switch to the second one. Thankfully there is no where else to go, so that makes it so you can’t really mess up. The third one listed online I believe is for when you’re actually up there. They do have a small lift near the top that you can use to explore the valley, hike down and then lift back up, etc.
      I hope that helps!
