One of the best single days of my life was spent lapping Seceda five times on a rented mountain bike. It was a stop along an 11-day bikepacking loop starting in Bressanone. Ortisei and Seceda are 100% a spot for you to book enough time to properly take in. The whole 11 days were a dream and Seceda was the highlight.

After watching the Zugspitze and Karwendel series, my style of travel aligns more with Mittenwald. Thanks for putting out this quality content and I cannot wait for more of those sweet drone shots (and perhaps a beer or two)!!
4:40 No joke there are cows in the alps and there are also bulls. DO NOT WEAR RED. Bulls do not like the color red and there are warning signs to indicate as much. The will charge! Ask me how I know.

If you haven’t seen some of the other videos in the area, you might like them too. The illustrated castle outside of Bolzano and the hike to the hidden monastery of San Romedio were major highlights of the area for me.
My dad is from the Dolomites, so I used to come every summer growing up, and still go back regularly. I... had never even heard of Seceda until a few years ago, when it started popping up everywhere on social media. Admittedly, we mostly went to the southern and eastern side of the Dolomites, but still, it's weird. I think places like this, Hallstatt or even Lake Bled are almost victims of their own photogenic-ness - there's that one cool image of them that just gets shared and shared, when there are tons of places that are just as nice, if not better, with a fraction of the tourists. The Dolomites in particular are just full of amazing mountains - the absolute highlight of the Alps IMO.

I am not sure how far it was, but I have linked the site we used that does include a map. The hike is basically all downhill to the rocks and then the hut where we had lunch. I usually don't watch videos like this, I myself am more of a "nice google photo... let's go and drink beer there" kinda guy, but I do enjoy yours. As for Seceda, Seceda itself for whatever reason didn't look impressive, however, the hikes around are INCREDIBLE. I personally (sleeping in Santa Cristina) did Seceda on more of A to B hike from Col Raiser up towards Seceda in June's heat. It was tough but the views are sublime. Also, nothing sweeter than a cold beer with a crazy view as a reward for a damn hard hike, right? P.s. Hiking down from Seceda is totally worthy. You get great views over Sasolongo and a chance to visit another Instagram spot - St Jakob/San Giacomo church. Keep on the good job.
You can also go there by train/bus (for free) so you won’t have parking problems. And from the Regensburgerhut you can easily walk or take the cable car down to Santa Cristina and from there take the bus back to Ortisei. Then you don’t have to climb up again.

My husband and I are currently planning a trip to the Alps and your videos have been super helpful with different tips/ideas for things to see, especially since it'll be my husband's first time. I've been to Germany a variety of times for a short German/USA school exchange, friend trips, Christmas markets (my favorite! 😍), visiting friends/family, etc. Seeing your videos has given me more ideas of what else there is to see, even if it's just slightly over the German border. Question- in alot of your other videos, you usually used public transportation (love it!) but to go to Seceda, you used a car. Was it easier to get to Seceda by car versus using bus/train?
Hi, thanks so much! I hope you have a wonderful time. I think it takes a little over an hour using the bus and train to get from Bolzano to Seceda and vice versa. Normally we would do this, but when we are experiencing a location for the first time, and filming, the trip takes like 3x longer. Plus, the public transit in Italy is not nearly as extensive as Bavaria, so we didn't want to risk it! I do feel a bit guilty.

I flew mostly over by those rocks during the busy time of day, but not too many people were over there. Then for the main “Seceda” shots I waited until before the last cable car went down. So myself I didn’t have any trouble.
I'm not sure what the snow situation will look like, but it will definitely be before the tourist rush. See if you can find some webcam footage on their website from those months, and definitely dress warmly!
I can use some help planing my trip. I am planning to go to Seceda on May 23rd. It looks like most of the cable cars will not be in service except for Col Raiser. Any idea how long is the hike from the Col Raiser cable car arrival station to Seceda? I will arrive in the early afternoon so I am worried about not making it back in time for the last cable car at 5 pm. Thank you!
You forgot to mention all the flowers. There are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many here, atleast when I was there in july, like absolutely blown away how many there are. And you also got that really good shot of the flowers and the cable car :)

Dolomites are definitely the most impressive, standout part of the Alps I've been to. Unfortunately that's also their main problem: while I wouldn't say I'm the type who wants to avoid all human contact when hiking in nature, what you show here is absolutely definitely waaaay too much for me. And that's during Corona, where presumably all the bus tourism and overseas tourism is down (on the other hand there might be more local tourism so hard to estimate whether it's worse or not). Granted, some of that can be avoided by going late or early in the year, if you aren't too bothered with the weather ... Haven't been to the Seceda itself; too expensive and when we were there some of the trails were closed, so it didn't seem worth it. If I got my bearings right though the rather notable mountain(s) you see looking south in your video are the Plattkofel and Langkofel, which you can hike around (also across, if that's more of your thing). It's also very popular but by my impression a bit too long - without being very difficult - for most people, so away from the rifugios you aren't completely swamped. You get amazing views in every direction, all while continuously hiking on the flanks of that group of mountains. Probably my favorite hike I've done in that region (so far).

Had any trouble flying the drone up there, and by that I mean with people ;)? I am planning to take my Mavic 3 with me next month.

It is not. I think the parking lot next to the gondola up is the closest you can drive.
