Nice job comparing the two models. We ordered ours Saturday, waiting for it to come in. I asked the salesman the difference between the two, and he didn't know. So again, great job and thank you.
I wish people would just appreciate the fact that this is a good line altogether. I just got the Kia K5 EX and it's a baller!! Huge Improvement over my Ford Focus which had known dual clutch problems. The GT is a great line no doubt but the K-5 overall is a great series. You really can't go wrong anyway you go here. :)
Bro…. I have a Ford focus.. I’m literally trying to just get a new car that will easily last me 1+years that’s not a hard bar to hit but my shit is a 2010 ford focus se… man brotha let me tell you. I’ve had that car for 5+ years now and if I invest more time and money then at that point I should just get a new car I just don’t know what is a “good reliable car” and that’s what scares me… there’s too many options :/
I had the choice between a GT and a nicely loaded AWD GT-line. While I really appreciated the GT for what it was, I don't see it being good to live with everyday - especially during winter. It torque steers even when the roads are clear and dry, and unless you really can keep your foot out of it, I could see them being an absolute handful for someone not expecting it. The GT-line is an excellent option, keeping most of the cosmetic features and offering real-world practicality. Not to mention the aftermarket isn't too far behind with upgrades to the 1.6T (i.e. same goodness inside the Forte GT and the Veloster). If the 1.6T can get a little more power out of it and maintain decent traction with the AWD, it would be the perfect daily driver. An exhaust, intake, and a decent tune... 250 horsepower wouldn't be out of the question. And that would be power you can actually get traction with and put to the ground. Kia's worst shortcoming was not offering the GT in AWD. If they did that, they would have taken the lunch from Subaru and their WRX line - offering a more reliable car, with a better warranty (and none of those lovely head gasket issues...)
I definitely would have liked to see the GT in AWD. The GT as equipped isn't a great 0-60 car, but it's a phenomenal car for passing power, and overall ride and handling. If it were my decision, for my driving, I'd buy the K5 GT-Line with the AWD and a less power. It's SO nice inside, I think I'd love it, even if it didn't have the maximum power.
@@BrantfordKia I definitely see the GT Line as a great value, especially especially for the amount of items you get for the price point. Once the aftermarket catches up in upgrading the 1.6T (especially in AWD), they'll add the AWD to the 2.5 😬
@@JarrodES13 Haha! I'm wondering if the rumours are true about the Stinger coming to an end, if we'll see a refreshed K5 GT in a couple of years with AWD.
@@jaysweeney9279 it certainly has the potential. The 1.6T has been used in Velosters and Forte GT's for a number of years now. Aftermarket tuning on those with LAP3 has some of those cars putting down over 400 horsepower, with even more after upgrading the turbo and the rods. The biggest challenge is the aftermarket keeping up and provided the upgrades needed. The transmission and AWD system would most likely need to be strengthened before pushing that kind of power, but I'm sure someone's gonna push it before beefing things up.
I am so back and forth between the two. I live in Maine, so the GT-line AWD makes much more sense for Winter. But I love the styling and the HP of the GT. I have had front wheel and 4WD in the past. Have never had AWD before. How much better handling in the Winter is the GT-line over the FWD GT? That will be deciding factor.
AWD is great, but if you're comfortable in a FWD vehicle then I would say buy what you love. I recommend getting winter tires to improve winter traction.
Nice comparison. I'd be buying the GT if it were AWD. And the GT Line doesn't have the power I'm looking for. I understand they're trying to "protect" the Stinger, but IMO it's a huge misstep by Kia.

Yes, so in something like the Forte, this is easier to understand because the Forte's LED headlight is just one single unit. The High Beam and Low Beam come out of the same unit. I haven't watched the front of the K5 when turning high beams on or off, but that's my understanding.

Hi! I was wondering if the 2021 Kia K5 GT model (red car in video) is also available in the US? I see from the video it has the digital dashboard! Is that option also available for the US?
The car is available there, but the features are a little different. For 2021, I know that the U.S. version did not have that feature, but you'd have to check with your dealer to see if there are any changes for 2022 model year vehicles.
Ah! Yes. You're likely missing your Canadian citizenship. (Totally worth looking into by the way!!) We film in Canada, and use Canadian Spec cars, so there are often minor differences between our cars and vehicles from the U.S. market.
I have a question can you make a video how to know how to use your power folding mirrors on a Kia K5 GT I don’t know if I had the line or just the straight GT but I know I have one of them could you please make a video
If you had to pick one…… 23’ gt line with red leather seats FWD 30k miles or 23’ gt sport seats FWD 7k miles? Would appreciate a quick answer gonna see the gt today
Love the video thank you for this! Two questions: 1) does the GT model have the option for the red interior like the GT-line does? and 2) so the GT doesn’t have sensors like the GT does, right? I may come up with more questions as I continue on my journey to deciding which model to buy, but thank you for all this information as is 😁
We film in Canada. We're don't currently have red interior, so you may want to double check with your local dealer to see if they can accurately answer for vehicles in your region. Most of our information is the same, but on some of the specifics, there are differences.
Where I live you can get the red package with the GT-Line and the premium package with the sunroof and more tech options as well. I just purchased a GT-Line in the Glacier white pearl with black interior and without that package as I really don't need the sunroof (way too hot and A/C is always going so ya...less headroom too in the back seat with it so no biggy). Again, you can get the extra tech sensors, etc...with the premium package. I forgot to mention I live in the US so options might be different. In this video the wood look is only on the EX, not the GT-Line or GT. Happy shopping!

I've never tried to do that with the seat. I'm not sure what would happen. I'll have to try. As far as wireless Apple CarPlay or Wireless Android Auto, the ability to have it wireless will not be coming to vehicles sold today.

My understanding is that if we order a K5 now, it will be a 2022. (I could be mistaken) but I'm not expecting any significant changes. The logo will be new. If there are any changes not listed in our information, I'll be sure to find them. As soon as one arrives here, I'll do a video on it.
The 2022 Kia K5 GT USA version does not come with the Digital Clusters. That is the only item that is holding me to purchase the 2022, hoping the 2023 comes with it.
Quick question can you confirm that 2022 GT line AWD with GT line premium package has ventilated seat please? On the website it only says it has heated front seats but does not have ventilated front seats as well. On the 2021 GT line AWD in your video here has both heated and ventilated front seats. Please and thank you!
Please tell me if there's a way to place a bike rack on a 2021 Kia K5 GT? I had to sell my bike, I couldn't get one that fits without breaking the rear window..... Thank You
I want and getting the K5 GT, could care less about AWD. It's not like I need it. I'm hardly ever in situations to take advantage of AWD. I mean I don't pull up to stop signs or stop lights and just think to myself yeah I'm going to beat this car off the line and jump in front. Or I'm just gonna take this road because it has a lot of curves and I'm going to drive hard and knife blade myself through these turns. FWD is just fine for me.
K5 GT 290hp, 311pft/torque. Could steal the market, but without either LSD or 4WD, what is Kia thinking!!!, Don't want to change front tire every month😭
It's an interesting choice for sure. There are a number of valid reasons for why they didn't do it, but I'd still like to see that car being produced as well. I can tell you that my Santa Cruz with that engine and AWD is great fun!
hi sorry for the late question. and this may be a stupid question but in the gt, do you need to use the paddles to actually drive? im not sure on the difference between the transmission in the gt line and the gt. thanks
No, these cars have an Automatic transmission. If you choose to use the paddles, that overrides the choices that the transmission would make on it's own, and you can have control. You never have to use them.
In need of a new car... debating whether to go for 2021 Hyundai Sonata N or get the 2021 KIA K5 GT. SUCH A HARD CHOICE! I'm also contemplating on waiting for the 2022 Hyundai Elantra N.... So many good choices this year from the S. Korean underdogs! Either way, I'd have to wait until next year, so I'll have to check out the 2022 models.
The easiest way to decide on the K5 vs. the Sonata is to drive them. There are differences that you'll see and feel in person that may help you decide.
Easy choice if you care about how your car is perceived to the public, get the K5. Although the N-Line is great, most Sonata people wouldn't be able to distinguish it from the "pedestrian" grade Sonatas driving around everywhere, therefore losing its "commanding" authority. The K5 has a commanding presence to begin with & the "GT" would enhance that.
The term "fast" can be deceiving. Compared to a top of the line Porsche, it's not fast, but I think for the types of driving that people will use this car for, they'll find it to be quite strong. The benefit of the way that the torque builds in this car means that you have maximum torque MUCH lower in the rev range than most other vehicles in this class. That means that you have strong acceleration in any gear, at any speed. It's the type of thing that you may want to drive before you buy, but the GT-Line is the model that I would buy over the GT. Other people will choose differently, and that will be what makes sense for them.
@@BrantfordKia ok. I’ve already bought the car and it seems like the acceleration is alot quicker than the stats say online especially when I turn traction control off. On one website I found it said that it had a faster 0-60 time than the GT.? Idk if you could tell me if that’s true or not but either way I’m satisfied with its performance.
The GT-Line just has a Kia stereo, but I'll be honest, the latest Kia stereos are excellent. There is a noticeable difference between the Bose Audio and the regular stereo, but as I said the regular one is improved on these models. I don't have the specs for power at hand right now. I encourage you to listen to one for yourself to see if it's what you like. Specs never tell the full story with stereos.
Both of these cars are primarily Front Wheel Drive cars, the GT-Line starts in AWD, and then moves the power to the front wheels as it maintains traction.
Hello, please explain how does electronic parking brake system work. In an emergency is it okay to use EPB, is pulling up and holding the EPB switch okay in an emergency. Thanks!

The GT-Line doesn't have bigger front brakes, (only the GT does) but the other reasons that you feel cheated have to do with you not living in the best country in the world! ;) 🇨🇦
Many of our vehicles have it, but I think the market research tells them that on lower trims, people are less likely to subscribe. I don't make the trim decisions, but I think that may play in to their decisions.

Why does Kia Canada not offer all the interior choices as the US models? seems like Kia Canada has the any colour you want as long as its black mentality.
Yeah, I think what it boils down to is that our smaller market generally means that we get a little less choice. It's tough for dealers if they have the right exterior colour, but the wrong interior colour. There will be less options to trade when there are less dealers. I'd like to see some more interior colours too, but we'll see. The Seltos is adding a burgundy leather option for 2022 model years, so they may be looking to add more variety in the future.

Ah!
Live in FL, gonna be financing
Love the video thank you for this! Two questions: 1) does the GT model have the option for the red interior like the GT-line does? and 2) so the GT doesn’t have sensors like the GT does, right?
I may come up with more questions as I continue on my journey to deciding which model to buy, but thank you for all this information as is 😁
i meant so the GT-line doesn’t have sensors as the GT does in the second question oops sorry
@@michelepaine8480 That’s awesome thank you for that! I’m hoping to buy this car sometime this year and looking forward to it so I’ll keep this information in mind. Thanks!

Is wireless CarPlay coming to us module also? When seat moves back automatically what happens when there is a passenger sitting back there? Does it sense that?
I've never tried to do that with the seat. I'm not sure what would happen. I'll have to try. As far as wireless Apple CarPlay or Wireless Android Auto, the ability to have it wireless will not be coming to vehicles sold today.

My question would be how strong is the moon roof glass in terms of like hail I have a forte that got a little bit dented up from some hell that we got which isn't common in South Carolina however it made me curious to how strong the moonroof glass is if you could answer that question.
Is the 2021 Kia K5 Gt-Line AWD? Or is it certain trims of them? I don’t have a sunroof in mine.
We film in Canada, so the car you see in this video is Canadian spec. That may be why you see some differences between the one in the video and yours.
When I’m done with my forte, I would love to trade it in for a K5
The GT isn't AWD nor is the Sonata N Line is due to the Hyundai Genesis.
Any idea when the 2022 K5 will be available in Canada? And what upgrades should we expect?
My understanding is that if we order a K5 now, it will be a 2022. (I could be mistaken) but I'm not expecting any significant changes. The logo will be new. If there are any changes not listed in our information, I'll be sure to find them. As soon as one arrives here, I'll do a video on it.
The 2022 Kia K5 GT USA version does not come with the Digital Clusters. That is the only item that is holding me to purchase the 2022, hoping the 2023 comes with it.
Where is your dealership located at?
Quick question can you confirm that 2022 GT line AWD with GT line premium package has ventilated seat please? On the website it only says it has heated front seats but does not have ventilated front seats as well. On the 2021 GT line AWD in your video here has both heated and ventilated front seats. Please and thank you!
No it only has heated seats

Please tell me if there's a way to place a bike rack on a 2021 Kia K5 GT? I had to sell my bike, I couldn't get one that fits without breaking the rear window..... Thank You
I can't see why it wouldn't work. You may need an aftermarket roof rack. But it should definitely work.
How long dose it take to go from 0 to 100 km-h
I want and getting the K5 GT, could care less about AWD. It's not like I need it. I'm hardly ever in situations to take advantage of AWD. I mean I don't pull up to stop signs or stop lights and just think to myself yeah I'm going to beat this car off the line and jump in front. Or I'm just gonna take this road because it has a lot of curves and I'm going to drive hard and knife blade myself through these turns. FWD is just fine for me.
Yeah, for a lot of people the GT is going to be an AMAZING car! Thanks for watching!
Does the GT have power folding mirrors
Would u get gt line or gt
Me? GT-Line. I don't need the extra power and like having AWD. But that doesn't make me right!
We want that car in Australia!!!
We wish it was summer in Canada!
2022 k5 should have the new logo and they should put a LSD in the gt model
We're expecting the new logo to be on just about every 2022 vehicle.
Yes 💯 a Limited Slip Diff. Okay they won't be going AWD, but should complete the FWD to performance setup as best they can.
@@bruschmidt9943 Can't argue with that.
hi sorry for the late question. and this may be a stupid question but in the gt, do you need to use the paddles to actually drive? im not sure on the difference between the transmission in the gt line and the gt. thanks
No, these cars have an Automatic transmission. If you choose to use the paddles, that overrides the choices that the transmission would make on it's own, and you can have control. You never have to use them.
Is there a sound system difference between these 2 models?
yea the ex and gt has boose speakers
@@bruschmidt9943 Yeah, I guess you're right. Just saw Hyundai tease their Elantra N and that thing looks so fun...
Would you still consider the gt line AWD fast?
@@BrantfordKia also I was wondering do you know any small modifications I could make to increase the HP on it? Thanks
Does the GT comes in wolf gray
Yes it does!
What type of stereo does the GT line have? How does it sound and how much power does it have
?
The GT-Line just has a Kia stereo, but I'll be honest, the latest Kia stereos are excellent. There is a noticeable difference between the Bose Audio and the regular stereo, but as I said the regular one is improved on these models. I don't have the specs for power at hand right now. I encourage you to listen to one for yourself to see if it's what you like. Specs never tell the full story with stereos.
The GT red cat if it's not all wheel drive what does it have front wheel or rear wheel drive?
Both of these cars are primarily Front Wheel Drive cars, the GT-Line starts in AWD, and then moves the power to the front wheels as it maintains traction.
Hello, please explain how does electronic parking brake system work. In an emergency is it okay to use EPB, is pulling up and
holding the EPB switch okay in an emergency. Thanks!
My understanding is that you can use it in an emergency. It applies the rear brakes similarly to a regular hand brake or foot style parking brake.

K5 was discontinued in Canada for 2023 I’m afraid :(
Why does Kia Canada not offer all the interior choices as the US models? seems like Kia Canada has the any colour you want as long as its black mentality.
