    I have a recipe for Liver (& onions) I use Calves Liver. Lightly dust Liver in flour mixed with Parsley, Garlic powder, Salt & Pepper. Then dip Liver in egg, back into Flour, then egg, then pat down in a bowl of dried Breadcrumbs, coating both sides. I fry in Butter in a Cast Iron frying pan on low so as not to scorch Butter until the 1st side is browned nicely, flip & brown 2nd side. In another pan fry Sliced onions in butter until caramelized. Set onions aside in bowl. Using onion pan add butter, Brown Gravy powder & a little water to blend Gravy. Once Gravy is smooth, add Garlic powder stir & fold in pre-fried onions, heat until hot. Lay Fried Liver on plate. Smother in Gravy. We love this. Enjoy.❤

    As a whole food, plant based eater (after 45 years of research) I usually watch these vids just to shake my head. However... Although I don't eat it anymore, Beef Liver IS one of the most nutrient foods on the planet & I LOVE Liver & Onions. However, with modern factory farming practices (Antibiotics & it's cholesterol content etc...) I would "steer" clear & take a quality B complex instead. Acorn Squash? Yes! Excellent food! Spinach? Can't stand it cooked but have it in my daily smoothie & regular salads alternating with Kale etc... Pumpkin seeds? Absolutely! Not just for Mg. content but very effective for men with BPH. Flas Seeds? EVERYDAY in my smoothies! Research shows blood pressure lowering effects & their Lignan content is chemoprotective! Truly a top 10 superfood! Great vid!

    • @NaturalHealthResources

      Thank you so much for sharing your insights! It's fantastic to hear your perspective as a long-term whole food, plant-based eater. I completely agree about the concerns with modern farming practices, and your alternative suggestions for nutrient-rich foods and a quality B complex are spot on. Your daily smoothie sounds like a powerhouse, incorporating spinach, kale, and pumpkin seeds. And I appreciate the shout-out to flax seeds - they are indeed a superfood with incredible health benefits. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, and it's always valuable to learn from someone with such extensive research and experience. Cheers to a vibrant and nutrient-packed journey!

    Not to question you in anyway, but it’s important to differentiate between the vitamin K1 which is a coagulator and vitamin K2, which is the one that actually helps to break up the Calcium build up in your arteries. The K2 actually works as a transporter to get the calcium into the bones where it needs to go. K1 is actually a coagulator and it’s good for blood clotting.
    K2 is found in our fermented foods like sauerkraut, the #1 being natto. Hope this helps him. Thanks for doing what you do :-)

    • @NaturalHealthResources
      @NaturalHealthResources  Год назад +6

      Thank you for bringing this up! You are absolutely correct. Vitamin K1 and K2 have different functions in the body. While K1 is involved in blood clotting, K2 helps with the transport of calcium to the bones and can reduce the buildup of calcium in arteries. Fermented foods, such as natto, are indeed good sources of K2. Thanks for your contribution to the discussion!

      @@NaturalHealthResources So what is cooked spinach.....K1 or K2 ? I read that dark leafy greens ( spinach ) has K1.....isn't K2 the one we want ? It would seem that you would want to avoid anything that helps clot your blood, right or wrong ? You probably should have fermented foods on the list instead of spinach....at least it seems that way.

    • @NaturalHealthResources
      @NaturalHealthResources  Год назад

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Flax seeds can be quite versatile. One common way to take them is to grind them and add them to smoothies, yogurt, oatmeal, or even sprinkle them on salads. Grinding flax seeds helps your body absorb their nutrients better. You can also use flaxseed oil in salad dressings or drizzle it over cooked dishes. Another option is to incorporate them into baked goods like muffins or bread. Remember that flax seeds contain healthy fats and fiber, so they can help support your overall health. Just ensure you store them properly in an airtight container in the fridge to prevent them from going rancid.

    Why would cooked spinach have more vitamin(s)? Just curious because I have always heard that the cooking process takes away healthful quantities of veg. But maybe steamed doesn't count? I don't understand how it can add vitamin k by steaming though? Thanks

    • @NaturalHealthResources
      @NaturalHealthResources  Год назад +9

      Cooking spinach can actually make certain nutrients, such as vitamins A and E, more available to the body. Steaming spinach helps retain more nutrients compared to boiling, which can leach out vitamins and minerals. As for vitamin K, studies have shown that steaming spinach increases its bioavailability, making it easier for the body to absorb and utilize.

    Hi Teacher, I just happened to chance upon your video today. How do you eat flaxseeds? Do you put the seeds to cereals to eat them, or you need to process them before eating?
    I also happened to check my bp after 38 years! It is high but it fluctuates very quickly from 188 to 120s within a few mins, from high to lower, and then to normal. But my diastolic is in 80s, which is rather high. My diastolic pressure seems to be much lower below 120 after jogging. Please advise. Thank you

      Hello! Flaxseeds can be eaten whole or ground, but it's best to grind them before eating to help with digestion and nutrient absorption. You can add them to cereals, smoothies, or salads, or use them as a substitute for eggs in recipes. As for your blood pressure, it's important to monitor it regularly and discuss any concerns with a healthcare professional. Exercise can be beneficial for managing blood pressure, but it's best to follow a doctor's advice on the appropriate level and duration of exercise for your specific condition.

      Thanks for reaching out, Angelina! It's great to hear that you found the information helpful. As for portion sizes of the other foods mentioned, here's a general guideline:
      - Berries: Aim for about 1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc.) per day.
      - Nuts and seeds: Enjoy a handful of nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.) or seeds (flaxseeds, chia seeds, etc.) as a snack or added to meals.
      - Fatty fish: Incorporate fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, or sardines into your diet 2-3 times per week, aiming for a serving size of about 3-4 ounces.
      - Whole grains: Include whole grains like quinoa, brown rice, or oats in your meals, aiming for about ½ to 1 cup per serving.
      Remember, these are just rough estimates, and individual needs may vary. It's always a good idea to listen to your body and adjust portions based on your hunger levels and nutritional needs. Let me know if you have any other questions!

    Do other types of squash work? I live in West Africa where we do have squash, but have not seen acorn squash. It would be good to have alternative sources, if possible.

    • @NaturalHealthResources
      @NaturalHealthResources  Год назад +3

      If acorn squash is not available in your region, you can try using other types of squash as a substitute. Butternut squash, for example, is a popular alternative that can be used in many recipes calling for acorn squash. Other options include kabocha squash, delicata squash, and pumpkin. Just keep in mind that different types of squash may have slightly different flavors and textures, which could affect the overall outcome of your recipe.

    I think my boyfriend has sciatica but he complains a lot of shooting pains down his legs and his feet go completely numb and he keeps hitting them off the ground to get the feeling back in them. I'm very worried about it but he will not go to the doctor about it. For some reason I think it's coming from his back as he definitely has lower back issues

      I understand your concern for your boyfriend's health. The symptoms he's experiencing, including shooting pains down the legs and numbness in the feet, can indeed be associated with sciatica. Given his lower back issues, it's plausible that the pain is originating from his back.

      That's too much spinach. End up with an accumulation of too much oxalates. Don't need plants with high defence systems 😐 In fact, steer clear of all plants

      When you steam spinach lectins are not a problem,I believe that’s why she specified to cook them first.

    • @iamtrash-kun3516
      @iamtrash-kun3516 Год назад +1

      @@craigglaser251 yes, once most plants are cooked especially spinach the lectins/oxalates are changed/reduced/destroyed in the heating process.
      It's why people who eat raw spinach more then cooked spinach they tend to develop kidney stones more easily.
      another fun fact is that cooking can actually add calories due to the change the vegetable goes through, for instance 1 celery stick raw can be like 5cal but once boiled it turns into 30cal.
      Food science is weird and complicated lol

In general, it's important to maintain healthy lifestyle habits consistently over time, including regular exercise, a balanced diet, and managing stress. It's also important to work closely with your healthcare provider to monitor your blood pressure and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan. With consistent effort and patience, you should be able to see improvements in your blood pressure and overall health over time.
