Part 2 progress report: I am 74% of the way in Intro to Quickbooks online for accountants. I spent 1.5 hours doing the following module lesson chapters: Expenses and vendors chapter and banking chapter. These two module chapters primarily focus on navigating quickbooks online (QBO) account. In terms of these 2 chapters being relevant to bookkeeping, I say not so much. They just focus on training you how to use QBO account. However, they do explain very basic terminology. Overall, these two chapters were worth going through (considering I knew nothing of about them). Again, if you have online banking and you know how to navigate it pretty darn well, I find it very similar in that way and helped me understand the content of the 2 chapters. I will keep you apprised of my progress.

I would like to get the certification since I have used it in college however now being out of college i cannot get to the quizzes. My client uses remote access desktop version, I'm currently studying for that certification. It needs to be taken in-person at a proctored facility as far as I know though.

Thanks for the direction to obtain the QB ProAdvisor training. That was very good and helpful. Unfortunately, the actual training itself is horrible. Can one really do the training in 7.5 hrs, then pass the exam? Maybe if you are extremely good at memorizing software use pathways. That seems to be what the ProAdvisor exam is after. We really appreciate your advice for arriving at the training. This isn't your fault. But we are extremely disappointed in the QB program. We tend to learn by using a program, not reading how to use it in a tutorial or manual, then taking an exam. The training makes you do that, and the examples use outdated formats. We will continue to plug away at it, but it's going to take many times longer then 7.5 hours. Maybe more like 7.5 months! Maybe that's why it's free! Thinking about looking into Xero. Maybe it is better. We are incredibly disappointed with QB right now.
I'm sorry it wasn't helpful for you! I know what you mean about memorizing software pathways... I do find that there is somewhat of a steep learning curve to QBO, but then it gets much easier (start small with just the functions you need). Are you a bookkeeper, or looking to learn QB for your own business? I know people do like Xero, but I haven't used it personally. Hope you find what works best for you!

I have been interested in bookkeeping and how to get "educated in the field" without paying an arm and a leg. Got Quickbooks online accountant account set-up. I am a total newbie in this field (was in the food service and looking to transition away from food because of celiac disorder). Began the training: Intro to Quickbooks online for accountants. I am 44% of the way, took me about 4 hours. Gotta keep in mind, I am totally new to this entire field (my previous food experience helped a wee bit in understanding but most of the content was new). I will keep ya'll posted. So far, once you learn how to navigate their web-page/dashboard, it is easy to understand what the training is trying to teach you.
I just have to get training for our small business. We recently lost our office manager and I'm stepping into the bookkeeper role blindly. I'm a dance instructor, not a bookkeeper, haha! We use QBO, and I have no idea where to start 😫

I’d like to see a video on pricing for clients I find that setting hourly rates is a bit confusing but having a set rate depending on company size or transactions would be better. I don’t have any clients yet I see job postings for in-house bookkeeper for about 40,000 a year, can we surpass this amount working for ourselves?
Okay, got it! I agree, it is confusing. I do think that you can surpass 40K/year... in-house bookkeepers usually make a much lower hourly rate then you can charge as a contractor with experience.

Hi I'm a mom of two disabled adult children My eldest is 28 with Down Syndrome, she is like an 18 month old. My son just turn 20 yrs old and he is Autism and my husband have traumatic brain injury from an accident a few yrs ago. Oh and I also have a 6 yr old girl I know I have my hands full believe me lol. I've been looking for something to supplement our income and this sound great as it is flexible and I can do it while I'm at home. I have been interested in bookkeeping and how to get "educated in the field" without paying an arm and a leg. Got Quickbooks online accountant account set-up. I am a total newbie in this field (was in the food service and looking to transition away from food because of celiac disorder). Began the training: Intro to Quickbooks online for accountants. I am 44% of the way, took me about 4 hours. Gotta keep in mind, I am totally new to this entire field (my previous food experience helped a wee bit in understanding but most of the content was new). I will keep ya'll posted. So far, once you learn how to navigate their web-page/dashboard, it is easy to understand what the training is trying to teach you.

Hi Morgan, this is very helpful. I have a degree in Accounting Technology but no experience at all. I graduated two years ago, currently employed in a different field lol but now I decided to pursue accounting and use my degree so this really help me a lot, at least I can have certificate that I can show to my possible client in the future. I’d like to see a video on pricing for clients I find that setting hourly rates is a bit confusing but having a set rate depending on company size or transactions would be better. I don’t have any clients yet I see job postings for in-house bookkeeper for about 40,000 a year, can we surpass this amount working for ourselves?
Okay, got it! I agree, it is confusing. I do think that you can surpass 40K/year... in-house bookkeepers usually make a much lower hourly rate then you can charge as a contractor with experience.

I tried to sign up at the link you provided, But QBO asked to buy the monthly package first, lowest one is around 12$. Do I have to buy the package in order to take the free certification test?

Hi Brandon! Morgan recommends accessing the training on a computer. She has never tried doing it on a phone, so that might be the issue.

Hi Morgan! Thank you for your helpful videos. When I click on Training, I don't see what you see on your screen. Mine just goes to a blank screen. Do you have to rack up points to unlock the training?
Ensure that your using the Quickbooks US website. And once your there, just go to training and finish them so the “take exam” button will come out.

I get the free version of quickbooks online to use it for 30 days, but I believe that option "ProAdvisor" is not available, and your quickbooks screen looks so different from mine. I guess I have to pay, thou!:)

Hi I'm a mom of two disabled adult children My eldest is 28 with Down Syndrome, she is like an 18 month old. My son just turn 20 yrs old and he is Autism and my husband have traumatic brain injury from an accident a few yrs ago. Oh and I also have a 6 yr old girl I know I have my hands full believe me lol. I've been looking for something to supplement our income and this sound great as it is flexible and I can do it while I'm at home.
