The equipment I use:
Drums: The drum kit I am playing here on this video is a Mapex Orion. Its a 6 piece drum kit. Tom sizes 10, 12, 14 and 16.
Cymbals: The cymbals are all Zildjian: A series...
Moongel: I am a fan of moongel on all the drums. It dampens the sound and makes it more punchy... If you have a problem with overtones, definitely give it a try...
Microphones: I use Audix microphones
Bass Drum Pedal: The pedal used here is an Axis longboard.
Recording Software: Cubase Elements 10
Video Editing Software: Sony Vegas Movie Studio 16
Digital Interface: Behringer XR18
Drum Sticks: Pro Mark 5A Nylon Tip
Camera: 2 x Canon 800D. 1 x Sony Handycam

That main beat is almost undetectable in the recording. It’s like he accents one of the kicks 🤔 Great work Bro your inspiring me to play. Such a cool song to play on top of 👍🏼
Yeah it really is tricky to pick up... And you are spot on about one of the kicks being accented... I could have talked about that in the lesson... Thanks for the great feedback
Yes man! Wanted to learn this awesome track! I love Chad Smith! Thanks man 😁
Hi Mr Almighty... Great to hear this lesson was helpful... Keep rocking man! Thanks
Great lesson. Thanks
Great tutorial !
Great lesson! Thank you
Thanks Ivan!
Great and cool
Great to hear. Thanks!
hi man, good job teaching drummers this awesome song! I'd like to point out that the start isn't just 2 hits on the snare and one kick, it's 2 snare and 2 kick. Listen closely, there's a kick on the e as well as the and of 3.
Hi there... Thanks for your feedback on this lesson. Appreciate it. The bass drum you refer to is probably a ghost note (very light note) on the bass drum. The live version has this bass drum note as clear as day light. On the studio version, its not clear at all, imo...
In saying that, you my friend have a very good ear for music. Super appreciate you pointing this out...
@@rockyvsrambo82 thank you very much, I've been listening to this band for a while. I actually recorded covers of Scar Tissue and Mellowship Slinky after studying those songs closely, so I could over them note for note, as accurately as possible. The videos are on my channel, if you're interested. I might do a breakdown of it some time in the future, I really loved taking this meticulous by-ear approach that I did!
@@rockyvsrambo82 Search for "rhcp give it away drums only" - you will find the isolated master track where it becomes really easy to notice this as well as other subtleties. Great lesson, thank you.
Biiig thanks 🔥🔥🥷
THANK YOU SIR
Your welcome Emilia
Thanks for your great free lessons as always! You're my favorite drum teacher on RUclips! It would be really great if you could break down Fell On Black Days by Soundgarden. It's one of the greatest grunge songs ever written and I think it's a great workout to master odd time signatures since it's in 6/4 i think.
Hi Lastor. Thanks for the positive feedback... Hmmm, a song in 6/4 sounds like a challenge... Lets check it out... Thanks
cool
Thanks Sir Mickey
Great lesson! Not crazy about your snare sound though 😅
Thanks... Will have a look at the snare...
The intro fill is eighth notes on the bass drum, not quarters. You can see him playing it here ruclips.net/video/zV7tNP0H_M8/видео.html
Hell yes!!😭
Hi Franklin... I believe this was your request, right!?
DD DRUMS it was! I’m a huge fan of the page and didn’t think you’d do it. You definitely have my support! Thank you 🙏
@@franklinlp1430 Thanks for your support. Appreciate it Franklin!
I think the sixteenths have swing .
Don't you think? It sounds to me as triplets without the second, as in swing.
Chad is a huge motown fan as he says and this could be the reason.
Yeah great point... Change the feel to give it some swing... Love it!
Even the phrase "give it away " , in the chorus, is a sixteenth triplet.
