    1987 was a glorious year because two historic icons of railroading returned to service, 1361 and 1218.

    Perfect candidate for the new NS steam program. I would go to Pennsylvania in a heartbeat to see the 1361 storm around Horseshoe Curve.

    It's a true shame that PRR 1361 experienced operational issues after only one year of excursion service, I would really love for this locomotive to be returned to operating condition again.

    They did finish what they were supposed to do. The parts are headed back to the finished roundhouse at the museum to finish restoration to operation. Its on their own website as of 2013

    Well, in the meantime, they're a little busy with 39, but I'm sure Strasburg could get the 1361 up and running in a few years.

    @boberttrain831 true man, true. And they'd do it well. Although i think it is a somewhat good idea for the museum to put it back together after the boiler repairs, that way they would have a better understanding and be able to do the rebuild themselves intead of sending it away every time it needs repairs. Kinda like the Fort Wayne historical society and NKP 765.

    1361 at strasburg are you crazy shes way to big for the railroad and it is very hard to keep a k4 under 35 plus all the great stack talk here would dissapear because of the wooden coaches and the heavyweights that would have to be used in order to get the classic k4 sound would be to long for the passing track. what we should do is instead of wasting our time on these computers we should go out and try and work on her and try to run her again. eh?

    • @blackpanther1013
      @blackpanther1013 4 года назад +2

      She still needs to go to Strasburg or anywhere in Pennsylvania she can run at it just depends but she may end up at Strasburg because lirr 39 won't be restored for a while and chances Strasburg 31 won't be operating again they should either sell 31 to the Pennsylvania railroad museum or to another railroad where she can run again.

    • @chooch1764
      @chooch1764 Год назад

      @Derek Mullins Probably neither of those. I just said the museum is projecting 3 to 4 years from now. However the more donations made the sooner it’ll operate. I have donated hundreds of dollars to this project and others should send their donations to the project too, so that we all can experience a legendary K4 steam locomotive in operation.
