  • Still having that daily struggle of getting through reading assignments? Trying everything to encourage reading?
You're exhausted, you know your child is exhausted, they've been complaining of headaches, eyes hurting and sometimes even nausea. You may have even had their eyes checked, but did you know 20/20 vision only matters for vision far away?
Your child may have convergence insufficiency, which could trigger these symptoms. We encourage you to watch this video and try our simple screening test to see if their eyes are not working as a team. If they struggled with this test, we encourage you to call us for a consultation. This could be the first step in ending the nightly battles.

I’m glad to have found out what has plagued me my entire life. Despite being very good at school I was always miserable and constant eye aches. I lose convergence at 20+ inches. Every close-up task my entire life has been a struggle and I thought this was normal.

@@typicalxy5147 I’ve also since been taking medication for ADHD and it’s helped my focus. There are a lot of links between convergence insufficiency and ADHD and treating one can help the other in some cases. Also prism glasses are amazing, I have a pair and they make reading so much easier.

Holly crap. I hated reading as a kid and can't read for more than 5 minutes without getting sleepy. I just tested myself and I see double around 5 or six inches. Ima start reading with one eye now.

My daughter is 13 and has this. It was diagnosed when she was in 2nd grade. The treatment has always been out of reach for us, for a number of reasons. The doctor said she would need 18 visits x3 at about $150 per visit. That is $8,000 plus it was one hour away, so 54 times at 2hrs round trip. It’s a really sad thing to just do the best we can to get by with her education etc. It’s insane that nothing is covered by any insurance. It’s such a serious problem that reaches far into one’s life.

It either means you're far-sighted (can't see close-up) or you're developing presbyopia, meaning your eyes lose the ability to focus on close objects which is a normal part of aging.

Thank you . I am doing my Pathology residency in first year, I am starting to get problems like when I look at a microscope and then try to make notes or look at a book my vision becomes blurred for minutes and it is making difficult for me to carry on with my Pathology residency. Recently, I was diagnosed as fusional insufficiency. So , can it be cured so that I can continue with Pathology residency looking the microscope or should I drop the Pathology residency?

I have a child who never sees double when stimuli moving toward him but his eyes move inward. Then when the stimuli is as close as possible, he cannot sustain the inward focus for >3 seconds (his left eye initially abducts and on a different attempt, the right one does). Is this convergence insufficiency?

Convergence Excess is absolutely treatable! It is just less common, so has less awareness. Treatment is basically the opposite, develop the ability to not converge so excessively.
