I would love a video that explains why our focusing ability changes as we age and anything we can do to lessen the immediate decreased acuity when we change our focal point. I first noticed several years ago I would be on my cellphone and then look up to watch my son’s gymnastic’s class and my distance vision would be blurry. Now have have trifocals but struggled to read the computer and had to get bifocals that I use when on the computer but switch to my trifocals when I need distance. Thanks!

Of course! Great suggestion. Here is a video I have done on why we need reading glasses as we age/why our vision changes - ruclips.net/video/zOzXZ0ZGgNo/видео.html
Does this answer some of your questions? Let me know in the comments! :)

@@DrRupaWong Great video on needing reading glasses. I am a bit different in that I actually take OFF my glasses to read fine print or when reading in bed (I was highly myopic prior to lasix surgery at age 21. I was -11.25, now -2 with corrective lens). It is more as I age (I am 46) I am finding it more difficult to transition from different focal points/distances that is the issue. Would still love to see a video focusing on that and/or why I actually DON'T need reading glasses solely to read close up when most people around me to (I presume it has something to do with my myopia?). Thanks again.

Hi Dr. Rupa! I have a screen-heavy job, and I use two large monitors throughout the day. Should I place them so the center is between the two monitors, or should I have one of the monitors be centered?

Okay my question is. You said no blue light can damage or affect your eyes. But my RS told me that reduce your screentime, cause it can affect your CSCR. What you've to say about it? I'm using my phone in "eye protection mode".

I'm wondering if you have any information regarding the best "K" rating for overhead light bulbs in a small home office. I bought a new iMac computer for my home office but the "contrast" doesn't look right and I'm having some eye issues. If I turn up the brightness I get a lot of glare, if I turn brightness down too much the text is not sharp. My lighting in this office is a ceiling fan which currently has 3 "3,000 k" bulbs. I read somewhere that that rating is to "yellow - warm" and that a K rating of 4,000 to 5,000 would provide a more natural light which hopefully should reduce eye strain. I'm going to get some 4,000 k bulbs to see if it helps. I'm also going to have Apple Care do a diagnostic test to make sure the monitor is working properly and the settings are all correct. Do you have any information regarding recommended K rating for small office light bulbs?

Hello doctor,my cat slightly scratched my eyelid about 10 days ago. It didn't cause any pain/blood or any other problems in my eye . I can see things clearly when looking with two eyes open but when I try to see with my injured eye ( other eye closed) I feel a little blurry from a distance like I can see the hands of a wall clock but the digits look a little blurry . Other than that I don't have any problem .but I think bluriness problem improved a little in the week. It's my non dominant eye( left) should I be worried?

Hey Doc. I’m an artist. Specifically , I’m a tattoo artist. I’ve been tattooing for 16 years. I noticed the whole time I always have eye strain, it makes my eyes feel weird when I look out afar. Always have pressure behind my forehead.
So I draw on iPad and then tattoo for hours. Do you have any content specific to artists. Thank you!

I have a quick question my grandson who is three years old he’ll be watching TV and he blinks his eyes and keep him close for a long time and then he opened it up and he keeps blinking and I ask him. What are you doing and he says he is fixing his eyes, I believe he’s having blurred vision but the TV is set up high on the wall and it’s a good 10 or 11 feet away but it’s a huge TV so what do you think that could be or what should we look for we took him to the doctor and they said there was nothing wrong

    Hi Dr. Rupa,
It is very clear to me that you are preventing all, "eye strain", in your three children by using Atropine, on a regular basis. The LAMP study is statistically convincing to me. Your children will avoid entering into myopia, by this strain reduction process.

    1. Reduce the glare or harsh reflection. Buy a filter.
    2. Computer needs to be 20 - 26 inches away from you. Right in front of you. 4 - 8 inches below your eyes. Use a Document Holder.
    3. Improve your posture.
    4. Every two hours take a 15 - 20 min Break
