Wow the wildlife in that campground is amazing! I love seeing wildlife even the ones I’m afraid of. I did not know that about onions or propane tanks. Idk why some big TV network has not picked you two up for a traveling show. You make a great team.
🤣 the moose ate those pretty flowers. I would like to see you cook on coals but this is my real. I try to cook simple so I'm enjoying the trip too. (🤫 I don't enjoy cooking very much. Rather be hiking, eating nabs.) You have a great channel. Thank you.
Long lines have saved me from buying things a few times. Really nice park, glad no one was trying to walk up to the moose, see that too often. Hop[e you stay safe and healthy.
Wow! That was a fantastic video Rick and Linda! Every time you put up a new video everyone in our family alerts the others. Guess that makes you part of our family because we talk about you all the time! I also forward all your videos to my camping family members that live out of state(Utah). I’m sure they w subscribed by now. Thanks for so much enjoyment and knowledge!
I was kind of wondering about that myself! I can really relate to being overwhelmed with choices and opting not to stand in line at the candy store. The best candy is the Centennial Bars in Weiser, Idaho at Weiser Classic Candy but I had to start alerting the staff to when I would be in town because they just don't stock enough of them.
Great video, I enjoyed it immensely. Great little spot Philipsburg, especially the wounded miner, eluding the raiding party. Moose like cleared areas for grazing, and new vegetation after a fire.
Me & my girl stopped eating out too. We used to eat out about every other day during Pandemic...lotta specials. Now no more specials, and we stay at home. Hope restaurants figure that out ;)
Fun episode! I’m glad I saw Philipsburg ten years ago, before it became touristy. Although I congratulate those shop owners on their prosperity. Wow! The moose cow and calf were a huge bonus! That campground is really nice, for a campground.
I agree....great tips, great info on the tank and onions, interesting towns, etc. They need to pick you up for a TV show. YES Linda...Rocky Road 🍦🍦(Anne Marie using hubby's account)
Gorgeous campground, good to see so much wildlife, that pork and beans recipe looked delicious. That candy store could possibly be the world's best selection of candy it seems. Great tip on how to find your propane level. Thanks for taking us along!
Thank you, my friend and classmate perished in the fire, other family friends lost homes, businesses and everything in their homes but are fine. This is a huge hole in my heart.
Living vicariously through your videos. I have done several road trips but now my mom is 94 and she is adamant about staying close to the cemetery. Two summers ago we traveled west to Oregon to visit family. They want us to come out again. She says flat no and we have a great travel trailer! I’ll keep watching and you keep making videos ❤!
Rick, Phillipsburg like a cute town. Too bad that burger was dry. 🙁 I love seeing wildlife. I’ve never seen a moose, but would love to. The sad thing is too many folks don’t realize how dangerous they can be. It was great to see you both! Be well and safe travels! 🫶🏼
I have to laugh, when my wife and I went through Philipsburg, we had the same feelings about the price of things lol.. If you ever get a chance, the drive through Rock creek to I 90 is a nice drive as is going over the Skalkaho..
Nice little town! I may have to visit next summer! Drive up from South Carolina. I bought ground bison here for $7.99 x for a pound pkg. it is dryer and more dense/ less fat. Cook medium and it’s good! Love the moose and deer. Never saw a moose yet.
Any Moose are very dangerous! They have a lot of speed with those legs and can attack with no provocation! These probably are comfortable with humans but still deadly very deadly
Your video reminded me of the time I was camping in the cook forest in Northern Pennsylvania. I was sleeping in a hammock & was awakened by a black bear pushing me with his nose in the middle of the night. He ran off after I yelled & waved my arms.
Great video no candy is OK. Ice cream is OK. No pie is absolutely not right. The beans and pork looked great. I usually have cornbread done in my 6 inch cast iron with a lid no oven needed
Also Linda so very sorry about your homeland fires ...our prayers and all our positive thougjts to you and all the people suffering....they're amazing spirit is sonething we as americans should all strive to acheive! True show of the virtures they embrace!!
That is a beautiful campground! Oh I like your little bean pot!! Yes! One pot meals are the best. Especially on the road! Oh wow! The moose are so awesome!! Love the baby!! I have yet to see a moose in person. Deer too? Awesome. Loving all the wildlife! Looks like a neat little town. Always good when there is a bakery and a candy store lol. Why choose? Hit them all!! LOL. Food looked good. Man I hate paying high dollar for hamburgers. Oh I see high dollar meats. Yeah well done is too much for most meats, in my opinion. Oh my gosh! That is a huge candy store. I hate that we missed this little town. I feel like I would have enjoyed the shops. Yup I didn't know about the hot water thing on the tanks until I saw it in your video. It may have been mentioned in science class, but I didn't pay a lot of attention in there 🤣
I'm like you, when I watch someone's video of a place that I just passed through and I missed something interesting. Like when I watch SUV Rving... He always finds the nice places! But you can always come back.
A couple of questions: 1. We have a 5x8 cargo trailer that we will tow with us, how do you know where to go and where not to go when pulling your trailer, I am referring to being able to turn around if the road becomes to sketchy and pull thru camp spots ( I can’t back it up for nothing!) 2. Is Linda’s purse that she is carrying a concealed weapons purse? I know you both carry when out in the boondocks but what about when you get into town like this? Your videos have me writing down spots I need to drive thru and visit! ✌️
We usually will stop and walk ahead to see if the road is sketchy or not, meaning too narrow or not suitable for camping. Another way is to look at satellite pictures of where you're at or thinking of going to see if there are wide spots or not. I do carry all the time, sometimes in my purse but usually on me. I have to adapt to what I wear and where I am. Thanks for watching, maybe we'll see you down the road somewhere.
Wonderful video! Yes, I've had a couple close encounters with cow and calf moose. Caution is the rule if thumb. I've always wanted to go to Phillipsburg and visit the Sweet Palace. And there's one little cafe that serves a great bowl of secret recipe chili. And I'd for sure have to visit the Creamery! But I've heard the town is a spendy place to go, so i will likely never get there. Loved seeing it though! As always, thanks for taking us along!❤ P.S. Hope your family and friends in Hawaii are safe🙏
It was a spendy afternoon there but very enjoyable. My family friends are all okay but their homes are all gone. My high school classmate/friend perished in the fire. Big hole in my heart... ~~Linda
Honey Bees love Fireweed! Nice to see all the wildlife! I only saw the dead stuff lately, dead, coyote, rattler, and a bunch of these little critters that look like a chipmunk, not sure what they are called.🤷♀️ oh I'd love to stop at that little town❤, all my favorite stuff! I'm praying for Maui❤
I don’t mind saying that the pork and beans looked delicious! I have also seen moose up by Georgetown. You are very correct to say they are very dangerous. Definitely not something to mess with. It always amazes me when tourists try to get a selfie with one. As you know, that candy store in P-burg is truly famous in Montana. Their saltwater taffy is great! If you go to P-burg and don’t bring back some taffy for your friends, you will hear about it.
Thank you on the propane follow up. 60+ years on the planet I've never heard of that but that may say more about my lack of attention than the knowledge 😅 but I appreciate it.
whilst visiting the grand canyon a few years back, it was late so we decided to eat in the restaurant in the park. the burgers came back really dry, even though we'd asked for rare (we're french, no further explanation is necessary). i asked the waiter why do they cook the meat so much, he offered, " well, if we undercook it and someone gets sick, we're responsible." i answered, "did you ever think that if you used quality meat, no one would get sick?" i know, rude, but i couldn't help myself.
I love the fact that you didn't drag the knife blade across the cutting board, I HATE THAT! I also love how you guys are actually honest, good bad or ugly, and not mean about it, because one does not need to be mean to be honest. ...LoL... That campground looks a little crowded for me, but it looks like a real nice place. I'm trying real hard to actually get my trailer out, aggggainnnn... My Tahoe is gonna be down for a week, because I pit in electric fans in and now need the computer programmed, and have to send it out to get it done. The local dealer wants $210+tax for a 15 minute job...And I don't have buckets of money laying around...
Rick, have you ever driven over Skalkaho Pass??? It runs between Phillipsburg and the Hamiltoo area. Beautiful drive. Dirt road mostly. There is a sapphire mine at the start of the Phillipsburg side of that road. Skalkaho Falls is gorgeous. Not sure if I would take a trailer over the pass, but your 4W rig would be fine.
We were going that way but someone who had just driven over that said they were doing some kind of roadwork and it was awful. Want to drive over there another time, though.
We went to Phillipsburg and I think about 2016 and we went and found the sapphires. Husband was disappointed. He thought we were going to be digging with a shovel and a mound of dirt but we weren’t. We thought Philipsburg Montana was a darling little town, we stayed at the bed and breakfast there. We drove out to the mine and got our sapphires that’s about 16 miles out.
@@gonagain no they didn’t let us dig they gave us dirt and we used tweezers to find the sapphires. He was disappointed because he wanted to actually dig but if we had we’d still be there. Ha ha
Nice video. Love Fireweed - first saw it in AK - beautiful. My first trip by hwy to AK I educated myself on wildlife - moose / grizzly as I'd never seen either. Dangerous but beautiful to view from -afar. Also I travel with a dog & that can put one in more danger as some wildlife can be territorial. My dog was trained to NOT chase - not even a lil lizard. Leave the wild creatures alone. Safest for the dog also. BTW Awesome camera shots of the wildlife. Telephoto lense.? Hopefully 🤭 Great tip on propane tank level. Where I live in SW its hot enough in summer I don't even need hot water if sun is on tanks 🤗 Other than to check gas level I leave the cover on my tanks away from direct sun though for safety.
Thanks, I use my phone for all of my photos (on instagram as mrsgonagain) and just recently got the S23 with the telephoto feature. That was my first attempt at using it, am liking it very much! ~~Linda
Linda, Thanks for the S23 tip. I'd like a telephoto option & want to upgrade also. That was such a beautiful video all round. You are showing me country I've not seen though was in MT many times I was on duty mostly interstate travel. Keep on filming our beautiful country ❤ ♥ Happy Trails
Yes Moose are surprisingly dangerous and fast. We were chased by one once and if it weren't for the moving truck, we jumped off the embankment into, I do not think we would have escaped. Even though it started casing us over an acre away from us, it got to us very quickly. I had done a moose call when it got mad and started for us. It ran like it was going to fall on its face at any moment but didn't and was FAST!
Wow….I was at Georgetown Lake 27 yrs ago….it was all trees around it then….sad to see all that damn concrete and how exploited it is commercially now. All the trees were tall then….maybe a fire came through and burned them?
I've been charged twice by moose with a calf hiking with my dogs. I now have sheep bells on my dogs and I holler "hey moose, hey bear!" while I hike, always on the look out. I'm more afraid of moose than bear lol. Of course my Border collie crouching and locking eyes with it doesn't help!
It was very touristy but not all of Montana is like that. We live in Central MT and most of the towns are just regular farm and ranch type towns, still. Thanks for watching, kenuber.
For little towns like Phillipsburg, they would die out completely if not for the tourists. They don't have anything else to offer except the surrounding beauty that attracts everyone to come and visit.
@@gonagain I'm from western Montana, and unfortunately out there, everything is about the tourists. It's sad but true. I could see where "Central" Montana is a little more forgiving on the tourist side of things.
@@gonagain Understood. In the video you mention the food quality, prices, lines...It just sounds like a place I don't need to visit.See ya on the trail
Another fun interesting video! Thanks for taking us along on your journey 🥰💞⛺️!
The BEST part of camping to us, is the wildlife. Thanks for showing us around!!
I agree👍
Always nice to see the wild life up close with no bad things happening !...
👍
Wow the wildlife in that campground is amazing! I love seeing wildlife even the ones I’m afraid of. I did not know that about onions or propane tanks. Idk why some big TV network has not picked you two up for a traveling show. You make a great team.

Oh, a blade aficionado! Like me!
How did you ever survive the day without pie? Always good to see the wildlife. Great video! 😎

We discovered that candy store, without being forewarned, with kids in tow. It’s astonishing.

Good man giving Mama a day off. The reason you store the onion with the root attached is the onion will dry out very quickly.

@@gonagain hahaha I think so. Plus it waas in the rut and had two cows with it. So not the best time to challenge it. hahaha
Wow….I was at Georgetown Lake 27 yrs ago….it was all trees around it then….sad to see all that damn concrete and how exploited it is commercially now. All the trees were tall then….maybe a fire came through and burned them?
You probable stayed at the lower campground, which is dense forest with huge trees. Not good for solar at all!
✌️
yes Phillipsburg is way out of hand on the prices I will never go back
If Momma Moose spends a lot of time in the campground area maybe she doesn't feel threatened.
Wrecked a plane in Deer Lodge a few years ago, small world.
I hope you didn't get hurt. As a retired pilot, I know how that can go.
@@gonagain just my pride, parked plane rolled into a building.
Thanks for sharing that. I learned about how dangerous the moose are while working in Alaska. Those things are huge up there!
Tourist trap! No thanks I will stay at camp! I'm from Montana and the whole state has come to this.
