Just FYI, the northern launching spot at the Houston Kiteboarding Club Beach is about 1.5-2 ft deeper than the launching spot at the levee. There is also a deeper spot about 500 m east from the northern launching spot at the Houston Kiteboarding Club Beach for the super shallow days. Also, the tide matters less than the wind direction for the last day or two in Texas City. If there have been north winds for a few days, the bay tends to be shallow even at high tide. South winds over a few days leads to deeper water in the bay even at low tide.
is there people foiling in Louisiana often? I m going to move there for 3 years, and it seems there are amazing spots but empty. I don’t understand why. Not allowed? Not enough wind? Sport not enough Knowned?
There seems to be a core group that wings and kites Lake Pontchartrain. Grande Isle also looks quite good. I think you’ll have no problem foiling there (but yes the wind might not be amazing). Hit up Tommy at Gulfport Board Sports and Taylor at GeauxKiteLA DOT COM when you get to town!
Sorry you are not getting good weather. Shallow water is an issue along the gulf coast. Not for windsurfing or kite, but for foil. That is why there needs to be an accurate spot guide for this area.
Planet fitness membership. $10 shower access. Then you can meet a wealthy divorcee in Bay St. Louis and have a beach house. Then we will call you the win man.
Come getcha some PCB action...wing heaven!! Tommy is the man! feeds all of our wing addictions.
That was the plan on the way home! But Dauphin was blowing 10 mph more.
Love these in depth overviews of your trips
Glad a few people enjoy them! They take a lot of time and get very few views. Haha.
It was fun seeing the levee again. It was my windsurfing spot for two years when I was going to school in Houston!
Hasn’t changed much over the years! Probably need to check out some other spots like East Beach and San Leon next time

Great info. Now that you mention the wind direction thing that rings a bell.

That’s one thing I’m working on. The videos are one thing, but hoping to also start building a database. More info on that soon!

Good point! I’m never gonna snag one smelling like I did this trip. What was I thinking?
70cm. Mast
Can we even consider that foiling Nestor??
