    The front big brake kit is worth it especially if you can find the calipers for a deal. The rear, I did not know you could upgrade with the Accord setup. I'm going to see if I can do that too. Great video. Very helpful

    Great video, I completely forgot about the accord hybrid upgrade option, am going to use that on mine. btw I noticed your trunk was a little up on the left side, there's a little rubber knob under the trunk lid that sets how high it sits. Easy fix, and it blew my mind when I figured out you can do that.

    The TSX and the 8th Gen Civic Si are very similar I believe they both have the same motor, I wonder if this setup would work for my Si…

    So Rotors, brake pads, and steel braided lines are from the 350z

    • @MrMike8300
      @MrMike8300  Год назад +2

      The pads and the steel braided lines are from the RL. I had the hardlines that go into the caliper so i could use RL brake lines. If you don't have those you can use the TSX brake lines with the banjo bolt.

    I just got a CW2 sportwagon, looking into doing this on it!! Thanks for the vid. Are there any downsides to having to remove the dustshield? Just more brake dust everywhere im guessing right?

    I did the TL type S spindles with calipers and rotors. Pedal has lots of travel before it bites and feels soft. I'm planning to install the TL type S brake master cylinder. Any thoughts on this and what I might need besides the BMC? I know the fg2 guys bolt on but have to use a m12 to m10 adapter for the brake lines. You should do that upgrade too so I know what I'm getting myself into.

      I had read a lot of people having issues with a soft pedal after swapping out the calipers so I tried to minimize the fluid loss as much as possible. I depressed the brake pedal with a 2x4 (and unplugged the rear brake lights) so the fluid wouldn't leak out of the BMC while swapping the calipers and i think this was critical. Once all back together i did a quick bleed of the calipers and the pedal feel was identical to the old setup.

    Hi, very informative video. I have only one question. What is the with and the offset of the weels that you are using, and are you still using the 17s. Really like tha idea for the rear rotors. Im trying to upgrade the brakes of my 2004 accord tourer, its a heavy car and definitely needs it.

      The wheels are 17x8 and +40 I believe. 245/40 tires which are pretty wide so the fitment is pretty tight.

    Hi Mike, Any issues with this setup? would you do it again?

    • @MrMike8300
      @MrMike8300  Год назад +1

      No real issues to report. The pads squeak a little when I first get into breaking but I’m not to sure what’s causing it and there’s a bit of brake dust coming off of them. Other than that they stop great.

    How’s the RL caliper clearance with the wheels? Think they’ll clear the 18” accord sports with a 10mm spacer? With the spacer it works it to +45mm offset

    • @MrMike8300
      @MrMike8300  2 года назад +1

      18s should probably fit. I have the base TL wheels which are 17x8 +45 and they just barely clear with out any spacers. The stock TSX wheels would have needed spacers.

  • @alvintsang2024

    Does the entire surface area of the pad make contact with the rotor? Or is there overhang? Also if you’re local in SoCal I’d love to see if my Mugen GPs will clear those calipers.

    • @MrMike8300
      @MrMike8300  Год назад

      Yes all of the pad contacts the rotor. No overhang or unused rotor. I’m in Norcal so can’t help you there but likely it should fit your wheels and if not a small spacer would likely allow enough clearance. What’s your wheel specs?

      @@alvintsang2024 18 inch the barrel should clear no problem. +48 the back of the face might be an issue but nothing some spacers can't fix. The RL calipers are a nice budget option and there's lots of them out there!

      @alvintsang2024 Год назад

      @@MrMike8300 yeah I tried test fitting the GP on a TSX with the TL-S Brembos. The spokes of the GP concave inwards toward the hub so it hit the caliper. I reckoned I’ll need a 15mm spacer with the TL-S Brembo
      Looking for a caliper option where I do run a spacer it’ll be without having to deal with extended studs so 5mm or less

    Great video. Seen a couple big break upgrade vids, one for TL type S, guy swapped whole control arm setup and everything. This seems way more simple, and RL brakes prob cheaper than TL type S. What factory wheel is that?

    • @InvaderNate
      @InvaderNate 2 года назад +2

      I think they were just the OEM wheels for the updated 3rd gen TL, 07-08. Might have been an optional wheel, but I know for sure they originally came on the TL.

      @@InvaderNate yes sir, ended up tracking them down. But you know how it goes planning a build, change your mind 100 times 😆. But still making sure they’ll fit the big brake kit. But the more i look up go fast mods, the more i just want to go faster cheaper with a liter bike, and just keep the tsx clean as a runaround.
