I'm loving the QAL! Getting started was the hardest part, but your gentle approach and sweet encouragement have helped me keep going and I'm almost done with all the trees and I'm almost ready to piece the top. I'm going to try your spray basting method too, another new thing for me :) Learning so much already, I'm super excited for the quilting portion and I've already put it on my schedule to complete 2 trees a week to try and build up my muscle memory. P.S. Your new hair color is super cute!
Lovely quilt! Thanks for sharing. I also like the white display board on the background. This is very smart and practical. Like it so much. Hope you can tell us more about this board. I really want to own one.
How much of the backing and batting did you leave along the edges? Usually instructions say to leave 3 or 4 inches. Or did you trim right to the edge of the quilt top?
Will you be offering instructions or advice for quilting on a machine with a very small throat area (6.5")? I struggle with free motion quilting on my machine when the quilt top is so big, like this one is (54 x 70). I really cannot fathom how to use rulers with my machine on such a large quilt. Will some trees be quilted "upside down" to accommodate regular machines? I have my top sewn into rows. Afraid to sew the rows together until I see further instruction. Thank you.
