Irn Bru is a magical elixir, and has cured Scottish hangovers for generations. There’s a reason it outsells everything else! Great video, odd weather !

The taty scone is basically a what we we call a potato cake, daft Scots changing the name of stuff. When the lockdowns finished you need to do the ale trail. Basically its jumping on and off the train on the line from Manchester to york as there are pubs at most of the stops all serving real ales and usually some pastry based bar snacks. Would make a fantastic episode of tipsy beans
Daft Scott's changing the names of things tattie scones originate from scotland you numpty🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣the English changed the name to make it sound toffee nosed 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favourite places in one video. Born in Newcastle but live in Canada you brought me home (sort of) 😀. Love Edinburgh and the train along the North East Coast line is spectacular. York is top of my list of favourite areas in England . Been a few times and I’ve been to The York Roast prior to the wrap but had it on a plate and it was amazing. Thank you for giving me a taste of home. Safe travels.
Oh guys, this hit me right in the feels. I visited York, April 12th-14th, 2008, during my unforgettable 3 week trip to England, staying with a British pen pal -turned-significant other. We strolled around the Shambles, went to the Jorvik Viking museum ( that was cool), and got our breath taken away by the stunning Minster. Also went for a wee cruise on the river. The typical temperamental (and fascinating) UK weather mostly cooperated, however a little rain didn't spoil anything. I did try..and LOVED...a Yorkshire pudding meal but not a wrap (if offered I might give that a go too ). We stayed at charming B&B just outside of town. I wasn't hung over at any point LOL. Never been drunk in my life, nor do I intend to be. But I did indulge in some refreshments while there. It was an unprecedented journey for me. First time I had travelled so far, and that's with major plane anxiety. Flew solo too. The nerves were worth it. Hope you all are staying safe and well ;)
The Yorkshire pudding wrap makes me think of Thanksgiving leftover sandwich in America, where you put absolutely everything that was on the table into a sandwich...turkey, gravy, potatoes, stuffing, peas, corn, green beans, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, gravy. Best sandwich of the year
Hi guys . So as a grandmother who hopes to be remembered fondly and believe heaven is how you are remembered I would love to hear about those passed grandparents. Pictures of a widdle alex with them maybe? A good story? Hell at this rate of isolation any story. Emma? you got some grands to remember. I can tell you they so hoped you would.
Cream soda was an essential part of that delicious childhood treat the ice cream soda. For this you need a block of vanilla ice cream, a big bottle of R White’s cream soda, several children and a glass for each child. First you cut a slice of ice cream and put it in a glass. Then you slowly top the glass up with cream soda. The cream soda will froth up and topping up will be a lengthy process which tries the patience of the children. Eventually they are given a glass of ice cream and cream soda together with a spoon. If you can wait long enough you melt the ice cream into the soda to form a thick and creamy drink but usually you run out of patience and eat most of the ice cream with the spoon. A real summer treat from my childhood in the fifties.
Had been planning to go back to England, only saw bits and pieces after cruising out of Southhampton. I really need to see more. I can’t wait until everything is back to normal. I’m in NY (the state, not city) where you know what has hit the hardest and stuck at home for who knows how long. Thanks guys for the great video. It’s a nice distraction from reality.
Thanks for showing us York, I was there 30 years ago (god I’m getting old) and it’s always been one of my favorite memories. Hope to go back someday. Saw York Minster decorated for Easter when I was there and it was stunning!
PMSL - love the accent Alex! York is somewhere I visit often and it's amazing. Love that you guys chose one of my fave chillout benches behind the Minster - love that giant wooden gateway behind! Thanks for giving me my first laugh of the day!
Thank God you pronounce scone the way I do . Nothing wrong with hearty meaty protein for breaky. A bowl of maize is all wrong . Have what you want . Emma is the quintessential English rose . 🌹
I love accents. Especially how regional they are. Brummie (PEAKY FUCKIN BLINDERS!). Liverpudlian. Weegie. I could listen all day long. If I'm around someone long enough. I find myself slowly slipping into that accent. Not in a mocking way. I just can't help myself. I become fascinated and next thing you know I sound like a local. When I was 17 I toured Europe on a bus with the United States Collegiate Wind Bands. Essentially musical goodwill ambassadors. My particular band was 1/4 Canadian. That's who I hung out with. At the end of 4 weeks with them, I came home sounding like I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. Lol

Creme soda, soda water heavily flavoured with vanilla, Haggis much healthier than black pudding, a Yorkshire wrap sounds great if fresh and the Yorkshire still crispy round the edges. After your confinement in darkest Zummerset, you will end up sounding like a west country yokel. Stay safe you two and we may all see each other out other side. 💋💋👸🧔
I've been to York many times. My Sister and Brother-in-law live near York in Upper Poppleton. The phrase I have heard often is: Blinken Eck. My wife says that a lot in the States and most people just stare. They haven't a clue. lol One thing I must warn people about the "Shambles". If you're tall, like me, 6' 6", DUCK when entering a shop (store).

As for deep fried Mars Bars and other fried Chocolates ("lets mock unhealthy Scottish People"), never tasted it, and if my local (Oxgangs) chippy ever sells it - I guess we would be finished. Not that they ever would. Its all for the tourists to fulfill their expectations, (that town center fast food places encourage and exploit), that this is our diet. We do have the potato thing in the U.K. we call them potato cakes. You toast them like crumpets then smother in butter. Yum
A number of people have said this. We both have never seen them in England. We are both from the South so maybe its a 'Northern' thing?

You can get potato cakes in England in most supermarkets just the same as a potato scone 😋
