The hostel you stayed at in the park looked perfect! We definitely will keep it in mind for the next time we visit as hotels are sooo expensive in London!
Brilliant first episode of your UK tour. Love this. Really feels like you're letting us tag along, and wow, those Scottish Eggs (for foodies like us) looked amazing. Thanks for this share, James and Kim
That was an awesome vlog! Holland Park was beautiful. So many birds and the animal whisperer was great. Also, you're so lucky to have been able to spend so much time with the Fortnum & Mason Archivist, Dr. Andrea Tanner. The Scotch Egg and Piccadilly segment was very entertaining and informative. I ordered some Piccalilli to try. If you both like it, how can I go wrong? Alex, Is Haggis in Scotland next? Oh, and Emma, grats on the earring find.
Absolutely brilliant episode guys! Even though I can not get behind the scotch egg, an interesting fact is that the word 'Scotch' has nothing to do with Scotland as many might think but comes from the word 'Scotched' which refers to the process of tenderising the meat that surrounds the egg. What was in that vegetarian scotch egg though? Was the 'egg' beetroot?
Awesome trip! And I learnt a whole lot about scotch eggs... no I didnt know their history. Was really interesting and very cool. I'm quite jealous of your scotch egg tasting. I bloody love them!!!
We definitely plan on trying a scotch egg next time we are in London! We also did not know it originated in England 🏴 Such a great & informative video!
Thanks for this great video. I am probably the number one French fan of scotch eggs and it was great to hear the story. Believe it or not, I am actually a big fan of British cuisine. Not easy in France to sell that. Keep up the good work guys and all the best from Paris.
Welsh (Welsh Rarebit) is fairly common in France and all the ones i have had there have been good. There is a beer cooking restaurant chain, I cannot remember the name, perhaps you could tell me, where I had a particularly good Welsh and the beer was alright!
This was such a good Vlog My worst hostel story would’ve been when I arrived at my hostel I was given my room and the door was removed and there was no lockers to put my personal stuff in ...had some stuff stolen while I was away on a tour ...put me off hostels for a while
Well, I'm American and didn't even know what a Scotch Egg was until watching Travel Beans. Never hearing about it, I would assume it originated from Scotland given it's name. The hostel doesn't look too bad. And love the earrings Emma!
As always, I love all your videos and this series already! You never fail to put not only a smile on my face, but belly aching laughter as well🤣👏. Thank you 😊 #beansout
Good content - never realized the Scotch Egg wasn't Scottish - now I know! The hostel life likely isn't for us, nor for others should we stay in one. Snoring, belching, farting are all part of the over 60 group. We'll have our own room, please.
Having spent 16 year's in p+o boats my tip for you is before retiring for the night have a plate of beans on toast with pickled onions. And a pint of Guinness. No problems.
Wow! Who knew about that Scotch egg! Try Hayward's picalilly guys, lovely. Try Simon Howie black pudding with bacon and baked beans, lighter on the clove flavour, mmm.
The Scotch Egg... such a contentious subject! I have heard the story before regarding our Southern neighbours claiming rights to it. However, up here in 'The North' we have a different outlook. Whitby in North Yorkshire lays claim to creating an early version of the Scotch Egg! Although I'm sure there are many other claims over its origin! I agree with Alex though, they truly are amazing and a British (English!) classic! 🥚😋
Didn’t realize the Scotch Egg wasn’t Scottish, who knew! Stayed only 1 night ever in a hostel (Edinburgh Scotland) and that was enough for me. Woke up to 10 people staring at me because they didn’t realize it was shared rooms.
It's funny but what you call a scots egg is also known in Flanders but here it is referred to as "a horse's eye" ;-) Here it is usually part of a dinner with meshed potato and tomato-sauce (not ketchup).
I had never heard of a Scotch Egg - I am from Glasgow so knew it was not Scottish only seen it when went to England - Thought - what the french connection UK is that
sponsored video AKA fake ,its all advert and lies ,go to a typical hostel in london ud be sharing a mold ridden room with filthy unwashed smelly tourists with corona
What was the Egg in that veggie/vegan scotched egg, the correct name, from to scotch, to delete or hide and cover up, a red egg looked very strange. Feeding Grey Squirrels is frowned upon as they are a non native invasive pest species and legal to catch and eat them, taste a bit like Rabbit but even less meat on them. The Parakeets are also non native, descended from escapees from Avery's along with the Budgies in Richmond Park and Bushey Park. 💋💋👸🧔
I always thought that the scotch egg was invented by the British, but I never knew it had meat in it or what it really looked like. All the pictures I had seen of it just looked like an egg inside a piece of bread.
Lol scotch egg. Hubby tried 1 for the 1st time at a Petro station in Scotland. We heated it up. Went to pay and cashier said ohhh never seen anyone heat it up before. Lol lesson learned by these Canadians. Eat cold. I couldn't try 1 as gluten free scotch egg doesn't seem to exist. Maybe 1 day now that they have vegetarian
You wouldn't get me on that top bunk, also they look like they would be annoyingly squeaky. Looked like a bit of a cop out black pudding scotch egg as there is a local farmers market near me that does 100% black pudding scotch egg and I'm going to say you would prefer it to that posh stuff. Now you have had a runny yoke scotch egg there is now no going back, it's just far superior
I bloody hate squeaky beds.. but I do have to say, these ones were super sturdy. To be honest the triple bunk wasn't my favourite as you can't sit upright in them.. but the double ones were fine Haha I would love to see Alex eat a 100% black pudding scotch egg! It's no fun watching him eat things he likes...
I've only stayed in hostels in Israel and was very happy it was separated by gender. I wouldn't want to stay with all genders ok in the room. None of ones i stayed i had food available.
their hostels are amazing! nice job guys, excited for the rest of the series :)
If this video is any indication, this is going to be a great series. You two never fail to bring a smile to my face. 😁
Aw thanks so much! We really hope you enjoy it!

Never been to Holland Park! Will make our way over in the Spring.
Black pudding and Scotch eggs, what Tom's dreams are made of.
The talk about the Scotch egg is way more interesting than i imagined, even thogh i really don't like cooked eggs and don't eat them.
Great video guys... tring to catch up on your videos..... scotch eggs I love it and love the black pudding one yum
Loved the park and the up close of the beautiful birds. Fun video and beautiful color choice for the hostel. The curtains are a great idea.
You guys can make any video entertaining, nice work.
Really enjoyed this and looking forward to the next :)
Thanks Susan!

I have bn to F& M but .missed the scotch eggs, how brilliant xx
Such an incredible video, this should be featured on TV
Thanks for the informative video . I look forward to your future adventures. Have fun.
Loved this! We tried our first scotch egg last fall at Borough market but never knew the history. Thanks for sharing.

it’s hard to believe that you only have 65K subscribers so far...u are in my top 3 favourite travel bloggers. wish u all the best...😇
Awesome trip! And I learnt a whole lot about scotch eggs... no I didnt know their history. Was really interesting and very cool. I'm quite jealous of your scotch egg tasting. I bloody love them!!!
it never even occurred to us that there may be veggie scotch eggs! this changes things dramatically for our next visit across the pond!
I loved the history of the Scotch eggs... Brilliant ❤️😊
Black pudding is awesome! I've never had a scotch egg need to try it!
Really brave and nice of you guys to do a show in that horrible weather.
Thanks for inspiring travel videos.I am having fun when i watch your both videos.Warmly welcome to Turkey in summer holiday season.☺
Why are you two so ADORABLE? 🥰 I’ve never stayed in a hostel, but that one looks much prettier than any I’ve seen in pictures or videos.
Jalapeno Scotch Egg????????omg, (books a trip to F&M) now that is one baby i gotta try, great video guys well done, safe journey . . .chris.

Great video! Loved learning about Scotch eggs 😂
This was such a good Vlog
My worst hostel story would’ve been when I arrived at my hostel I was given my room and the door was removed and there was no lockers to put my personal stuff in ...had some stuff stolen while I was away on a tour ...put me off hostels for a while
I don't blame you! That's awful! Thankfully I don't think we've ever stayed a hostel that bad.. hope we never will!
Well, I'm American and didn't even know what a Scotch Egg was until watching Travel Beans. Never hearing about it, I would assume it originated from Scotland given it's name. The hostel doesn't look too bad. And love the earrings Emma!
I’ve been eyeing that SafeStay hostel, so thanks for the tour!!
As always, I love all your videos and this series already!
You never fail to put not only a smile on my face, but belly aching laughter as well🤣👏. Thank you 😊 #beansout
A scotch egg is best left to mature on a sun kissed windowsill for 2 days before consumption. Bootifull!!

Alex loves the 🐦, why wasn't he feeding them!
😂😂😂
Alex, when you are back in the general Bristol area, you should try a scotch egg from Sandwich Sandwich!
Amazing vid guys.
Wow! Who knew about that Scotch egg! Try Hayward's picalilly guys, lovely. Try Simon Howie black pudding with bacon and baked beans, lighter on the clove flavour, mmm.
Thanks for the tips! 👍
Are you both training to be bird whisperers?? 😄😮😆🐦🐦 I love the storytelling & edits on this video! 👍❤️🎥🎬
Thanks so much!! 🙏

Always love watching you two 💕😃
Love this guys
I have never had a scotch egg. Sounds delicious. Great BEANS OUT! I never get tired of that. 😊
Loved the video love scotch eggs yum 😋 how much is the hostel looks fab x
Did the man feeding the birds call peanuts "monkey nuts?" We call kiwi fruit "monkey nuts" here on the Texas coast. LOL
So cool that you were able to speak with the curator at Fortnum & Mason about the history of scotch eggs 🥚 and then eat a vegan version! 😀
Love Travel Beans!
Had to look up what a pullet was. A hen, usually less than a year old.
Cold beef curry for breakfast is brill A proper Beef curry!
Great video! Love the earrings!!!
Was that really a plastic knife and fork in Fortnum's? Or the lighting?
nice content

It's called a 'Scotch Egg' not a scots egg. Keep up.😏🙄🤭
@@PortmanRd you’re right
Holland Park is amazing to go for walk and play Pokemon go too 😊😊
I had never heard of a Scotch Egg - I am from Glasgow so knew it was not Scottish only seen it when went to England - Thought - what the french connection UK is that
A little different from my day when I first stayed there in 1975.
sponsored video AKA fake ,its all advert and lies ,go to a typical hostel in london ud be sharing a mold ridden room with filthy unwashed smelly tourists with corona

The egg was a normal egg, just dyed purple from the beetroot! 😂 It did look a bit odd but tasted good!
Hope you recorded this trip before the coronavirus, not the best time to be sharing a room with travellers from all over the world. Good vlog though 🐵
I love me some beans!
Funny the lady talking all about the Scotch Egg being from London is actually Scottish .....LOL :)
Wouldn't you be better getting a hotel room being a married couple, or even purchasing a camper van
I always thought that the scotch egg was invented by the British, but I never knew it had meat in it or what it really looked like. All the pictures I had seen of it just looked like an egg inside a piece of bread.
Originated from India as a kofta

Love scots egg
Turn the volume down 😂😂
I share your dislike for black pudding. A friend made it for a breakfast once, and after one bite, I had to beg off.
😁🥃well, Scotch is whisky made in Scotland whereas whisky is made in America! Maybe they used scotch to wash down the eggs! 😁😁😁
🥰😂🥰
Neither is the kilt or the bagpipes..
Interesting!

triple bunk beds in a room of nine to twelve ick....no even worth the non existent savings in exchage for location
I've only stayed in hostels in Israel and was very happy it was separated by gender. I wouldn't want to stay with all genders ok in the room. None of ones i stayed i had food available.
I hope you realize the peacock is a male, not a female. It's kind of in the name. The female is a peahen.
I want some nice honey and toast mate.
It isn't a Scottish egg it's a scotch egg
French Fries aren't French.
F&M trés POSH
Definitely! We did feel a tad out of place there.. 😂
