"Windows are tinted, so people cannot see what's inside" - Only when light outside is stronger than inside. However, as light dims outside in the evening, any light you put on inside, everyone will be able to see right through your tinted windows. You really need the curtains for privacy.
I understand you wanting a smaller van easier to drive in, however there are many things you are missing in that van. The cooking can be a bit uncomfortable you can barley reach that pull out counter. As the others have stated, bathroom facilities with this COVID the public restrooms for showering and tinkling may be dangerous. I know you said you have a portable toilet and shower but.....that will get old. So maybe there is something in between the 2? But either way can't wait to see ya' on the road again!!!
Large, draughty budget motorhome with tiny heater is not warm in winter. Unless you get a more expensive one with a double floor, at least, it won’t cope well with very cold weather.
This video has so been so so helpful!! My partner and I have been looking into spaceships for the last month trying to decide which vehicle to take on our 2 week trip around Scotland in October! We were struggling to decide between the motor home and camper van but this video has definitely confirmed the camper van for the same reason as you guys 😁 thanks so much for making this, was super insightful & enjoy Europe!
Thanks for such a nice comment and so glad it was useful. We spent the last 3 hours trying to upload this and are more than exhausted. This has genuinely made our day 😊
HI Guys . . . .Love both of them, but i would go with a hi top camper van instead of the motorhome, one because of the weight and height in winter months is a pain in the Arris lolol Especially in snow, and high cross winds, so High top Camper van with room to stand up in properly, and it would give me more storage space for all my Camera and Videoing gear, guitar and p.c. and speakers, plus i would have an indoor cooker, & a bed that lowers from the roof, so you got room for fridge freezer and heaters then, Van would be the long wheelbase one, and of course i would carry my Teepee, for any shoots i do away from the van parking area and take my Kelly Kettle with me too lol. Love the Video as usual, wish you both the best of luck on your travels, please, please stay safe, see you when you get back for a Thatchers or 3 lololol Chris.
That smaller van looks like it will be WAAAY too tiny and impractical for more than an overnight trip...Good you're going to try before you buy. I bet you end up with something in between size-wise. Happy adventuring in Europe!
I don't agree. We have been travelling in an even smaller van for the last couple of years. We did this in every season and it's just fine. You only need a dry place to sleep in, that's all at the end.
Love you guys and can't wait to see you traveling again! That being said, with the campervan, there is no toilet nor shower. I feel those are essentials for something you will be living in. Not all nature locations will have a lake to bathe or facilities to use. But I admire your adventurous spirit! PS - please more britpop on your music backgrounds. Thanks!
Big fan of your channel and glad to see you both are on the road again being safe during this Covid-19 Pandemic. I also would prefer a Camper Van over a Motor-home as long as it has a frig/small stove/shower/toilet and I've seen other vans that have them so hope you are able to get the best of both worlds when you purchase a Camper Van... My wife and I look forward to more episodes of your trip and stay safe....
So glad you two are on your travels again, I’ve watched a lot of van life content and the majority seem to have converted sprinter/transit type vans which is kind of somewhere in the middle. Looking forward to following your adventures 🙂👍
Great to see New Beans. It includes a beanism "You can swing a cat in here". I don't think I've ever heard that used as a form of measurement before 🤔. Awesome review of 2. I think that I would choose the larger one though. Looking forward to seeing the Camper Van in action 😃
The cooking would be fine in summer but may get a bit old in the rain or the cold. If you took that round england in autumn or winter you would be constantly resorting to pulling in at a pub. On 2nd thoughts that's the perfect van. pub pub pub pub
Looking forward seeing the (beautiful) places you're going, seeing you in lockdown is not so exciting. Have a wonderful vlogs Travel Beans Alex and Emma
Motorhome, due to toilet, storage and space. Its an investment and feel better resale value v minimal. Looking forward to seeing how things go. Safe travels 👍👊😁
Being Discrete just because you are in a smaller vehicle is a bit of a red herring. Many ready to roll camper vans like the VW California, the Ford Nugget or the Mercedes Marco Polo are very easily identify-able as what they are: camper vans. I would argue the most discrete solution is a self converted cargo van (Ducato, Sprinter, Transit, Master) with no external accessories or specialized camper windows.
I would prefer the first one but empty to build the inside to your lifestyle. I like being able to stand up and if you have a dog they will need some space. Happy Travels!
I mean a motor home can be discrete... where its ALWAYS a motor home if you were to use blackout curtains it wouldn't necessarily lead people to believe there's anyone using it to stay in at that particular time. However in the camper van if you wanted to cook, standing outside the van using the cooking facilities would be a dead give away😇
Great comparison you two, but I think you'd be able to get way more cats beds in that RV. But you can't be right all the time. 😝😂 We're loving this, but a smaller van is super rad.
I feel like America even though ppl are still dying they are opening up and travelling And now the uk and Europe seem to be doing it too Meanwhile NZ has gone completely back to normal and half of Australia All while my state in Australia suddenly has a second wave of corona cases and we have gone back to stage 3 and possibly even about to hit stage 4 meaning we can’t leave home ...it sucks big time
It seems to me that the smaller camper van has more dependency on the commercial camp site, you need bathroom and shower! You cannot really "go bush" late at night on the road site, can you?
Was there maybe a compromise possible? Perhaps a high roof Transit or Sprinter camper van, similar to what Kara and Nate got? Would that be closer to what you wanted or was this one exactly what you were looking for?
Agreed! That's what we'll likely go with for our own van.. This one is great for shorter trips but for full time living, we'll need some more living space and be able to stand up 👍
Travel Beans Yeah, plus you’d be able to film inside it on rainy days. Sprinter and Transit both come in 4x4 Diesels and that’s what I’d recommend. The Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen’s got more room in the back, but that Diesel is awful.
That to me is not a Motorhome but a bloody large Campervan, a Motorhome is the size of a bus 10 - 12 m, now that would be a good project, convert a bus or a coach. A coach would be best due to normally having larger fuel tank(s) and storage lockers under to fit the power supply (eco) and the water tanks.
before you start building, here is a great option for a stealth camper ruclips.net/video/5j0AESCpt_M/видео.html and also this build vlog ruclips.net/video/dvHUhpJjVQo/видео.html hope it'll help
I would prefer the campervan, but pretty sure my girlfriend would have a (preferably smaller) motorhome, that at least you have your own private toilet and shower.
These types of vehicle uses alot of petrol especially when you're sleeping at night? Imagine the whole night this vehicle is running, at least 8 hours.
You want stealth? Sorry but you can forget that part. There are nowadays so many Vanlifers everywhere that everybody knows somebody is sleeping in these kind of vans (or smaller ones) if they are parked in a nice spot somewhere. Forget about stealth because it will not be stealth....
I understand your point but we don't want/need stealth for nature locations. We want it for being able to park in a city centre and able to stay for a night if/when we feel like it.
@@TravelBeans Ok, I understand. I guess then stealth could work, if you decide not to put any windows in (which is a shame for all other places you will camp). But we camped a few times in the middle of busy cities in our motorhome, never had any problem. You can close all the windows completely so nobody knows if you are in there or not. Same for a van. Sometimes it is even better that they know that somebody MIGHT be in there, less chance on break ins. So yeah, I understand what you mean but I would think about it a few more times because the pro's and con's don't really add up in my opinion. A van is great when you have some windows / can see the outside from "your bedroom" :-) Anyway, keep up the vids guys!
Thanks, its good food for thought. We saw plenty of people clearly sleeping in motor homes in cities on our recent trip so it was nice to see how easy it was to do. All good research for our eventual new 'home' :)
"Windows are tinted, so people cannot see what's inside" - Only when light outside is stronger than inside. However, as light dims outside in the evening, any light you put on inside, everyone will be able to see right through your tinted windows. You really need the curtains for privacy.
Truth.. And there might be nudity, and police involved. Uh, so I have heard anyways...
I have a pick up truck with a pop up camper, the big advantage is that I can stand up. Have Fun!
I understand you wanting a smaller van easier to drive in, however there are many things you are missing in that van. Missed the fact that a motorhome is insulated - whereas most campervans aren't..... Can be a big deal for all year use
That's why a diy build is good. 😊 Not to tricky to add some good insulation... Even got a Canadian winter. 😊 Safe travels friend.
Large, draughty budget motorhome with tiny heater is not warm in winter. Unless you get a more expensive one with a double floor, at least, it won’t cope well with very cold weather.
Motorhome for me, for sure - I'm 6'2", and like my comfort!

I would chose the motor home simply because of the bathroom/shower. But I understand your choice and can’t wait to see more videos

I like the sprinter vans, you can have a kitchen, shower. Be really completely off the grid.
What a lovely intro to the video. Well done guys. Enjoy

Woooot. Im so excitedddddddddddddddddd. You 2 look great. I can't wait for the upcoming vids.
Thanks guys this was super helpful, we are renting a motorhome to travel bonnie Scotland and this was the perfect taster for what to expect !!

I've never used the term but I've heard it a time or 2. Your comment made me curious. Apparently it was first used in 1771. Random fact of the day. :)
@@lauraschlueter287 Hmmm... The more you know 🤔
Great vid guys really cool to see you out and about again after all the Covid shite. Looking forward to joining you on your Europe trip!
Self build Camper van for me but bigger LWB high roof I.E. Ducato or sprinter 👍
The cooking would be fine in summer but may get a bit old in the rain or the cold. If you took that round england in autumn or winter you would be constantly resorting to pulling in at a pub. On 2nd thoughts that's the perfect van. pub pub pub pub
🍻 pub pub pub!
There’s always curry night or a Chinese takeaway, anywhere in Europe.
🍻 pub everytime
Definitely the motor home, I need the bathroom! Have a fab trip guys!
I lean toward the motor home style. Also, I'm a new subscriber. Looking forward to your journey!
I started following you guys last month. You guys are great! Love from India! ❤️
i am so excited! will be waiting for the new videos.

Been binging the channel since the weekend. I owe y'all a beer when you get back to the east coast of the States.
i love your humor guys you always make me laugh and smile no matter how bad im feeling
Cant wait for the next video.
Keep having fun guys travelling!
Enjoy. Your trip 😊
Great video
Wherever you go, there you are.
Ahhhh beans!!!! Fast closing in on 100k subs 😃
VW campervan every time we have one! ! and spend a lot of time in it, when we are not backpacking we live in it.

Campervan for the same reason but with a pop top so I can stand up properly
Can anyone tell me what that type of shower door is called? I want one.
Toilet in the small camper van? Public restrooms are iffy with the Covid 19....
When we were younger campervans were fine but as we got older we preferred motorhomes with a little more room.
I feel like America even though ppl are still dying they are opening up and travelling
And now the uk and Europe seem to be doing it too
Meanwhile NZ has gone completely back to normal and half of Australia
All while my state in Australia suddenly has a second wave of corona cases and we have gone back to stage 3 and possibly even about to hit stage 4 meaning we can’t leave home ...it sucks big time
How discrete r u when u r cooking on the street?

That van is way too small. I would have chosen the motorhome. But you two are rebels. Hope you have fun.
motor home would be better for us... but the camper van looks great too
If the van was standing height like a Sprinter it would be way better!!
What about a class B motorhome?
Congratulations! I think I would want something in between the two. A van but room to stand up without bending over. I look forward to future videos.
A high roof full-size van perhaps? Like a Sprinter or Transit?
Agreed! That's what we'll likely go with for our own van.. This one is great for shorter trips but for full time living, we'll need some more living space and be able to stand up 👍

A sprinter van is smaller than the motor home but, bigger than the camper van.
*Slaps Hood* You could swing so many cats in this Motorhome!
You got the small one... Will he drive now is the question?
Motor home. I like space
Cooking out of the back isn’t stealth. You need a way to cook inside.
One thing you have missed to discuss is ; How much nice are the prices of these gadgets ??
No place to keep any Heinz 57 beans cans in the Campervan !!
Oh geez! You can't stand up in that camper van. Nope, not for me. Can't live in that. But if you're good with it, that's all that matters. 🙂
..but, can it sleep 7 travel beans ?
before you start building, here is a great option for a stealth camper ruclips.net/video/5j0AESCpt_M/видео.html and also this build vlog ruclips.net/video/dvHUhpJjVQo/видео.html hope it'll help

Camper van. you can go on many more roads, safely.
I would prefer the campervan, but pretty sure my girlfriend would have a (preferably smaller) motorhome, that at least you have your own private toilet and shower.
What a beautiful woman!
Masks are great to slow spread. However you want to purchase 2 face shields. That's what will help protect you when you do groceries.
Motorhome 100%
😃
I'd rather have something in between those two
These types of vehicle uses alot of petrol especially when you're sleeping at night? Imagine the whole night this vehicle is running, at least 8 hours.
Alex.... trying a new colour of wig? Or found a bottle of hairconditioner that revives your not natural tone of hair.. ;-) ;-)

A shorter camper van, meaning no back bunks
can you geach me this?
I hate living in my van! If I had money hands down motorhome, I don't care if I can be seen from outer space my back is broke.
