Electric vans are steadily becoming more prominent in our cities but those on offer now aren't dedicated EV vans, they're nearly all just standard vans with batteries shoved inside. The Farizon SuperVAN is about to change all that. Built on a dedicated skateboard chassis, that can also be a range extender EV too if needed, the SuperVAN takes advantage of all the benefits of EV architecture to be basically anything you want it to be. Join us as we take a closer look at the EV van that is going to take Europe by storm in 2024. In part one, we take a look at the static model.

So awesome. Finally, someone sees the light. Would like to see a van that can be lived in. So no need to for a house. Definitely lots of solar panels on the roof and probably even on the sides and even the hood. Everything runs on solar power. That is the future, but would like it today.
Agreed. Would be cool to have solar panels that fold down the side and can be held up when it's parked to capture the sun. #vanlife just got more fun
@@InsideChinaAuto With panels becoming more and more flexible, I think the next step would be to have the panel integrated into the awning. As for making a real difference in the range, not something I think will have a large effect
I think electric architecture is a good fit for camper vans. Electric drive will make them feel less sluggish and being able to call on the large drive battery might mean a better suite of appliances compared to normal where you might be constrained to smaller leisure batteries or lower wattage systems.
Exactly. A really good fit for this purpose, especially with solar maximised.
here is where the problem lies....
you run out of battery in the middle of nowhere, what do you need to get rescued???
a diesel generator to charge the battteries unless your car in going to be towed...,yes i know you have solar panels but if you re stuck in a forrest where there is no sunlight, what if there is a blizzard for a week...
you run out of gas... take 2 jerrican and you're have 10litres of fuel!
when was the last time you saw a campervan with batteries on the rack?
there are two cars... one of them run out of gas.... you take a hose and put fuel from the car the has more gas to the car that have no gas...
two cars run out of battery.. how are you going to charge the car that have no battery???

@p1mento People will always use a vehicle for the conditions they can use it in. If they need solar, they won't park in trees. If they're going to run out of energy, they won't let it get so low. If it snows, they'll walk somewhere and maybe should have planned better. Diesel also runs out when it runs out.
This van is everything that I would want in a van. It's the only van I've ever seen that has a full shower and loo for this small size.. Quite amazing

This is what I always dreamed of, a vehicle that can be driven across countries. From a left hand drive country to a right hand drive country. Little modification and you're good to go.

What a wonderful presentation. What a well thought camper van. Is finally my dream coming true? Please add Solar Panels and make driving, cooking, heating/cooling and lights all work on electricity. Even the side shadow thing should be made out of solar panels. Can't wait to take this car on all sort of journeys all over Europe and Africa and roll silently through small villages and towns without disturbing the local people or animals

Believe it's already on pre-sale in Ireland. Not sure if that means prices are announced yet.

Yup, quite possibly will be a bit different on a full production version but we'll see.
A design for a van like no other! When is it available outside China, say for export to ASEAN?
I understand 2024 is the year it's coming but no specific announcements on markets and timing from Farizon just yet.

Glamping was a boom in china and once this product was releases to the market, many chinese people will bought this camper van as many chinese families enjoy glamping and touring all over china.
There are still so many new eras for Chinese consumers to break into, campervans being one. You're starting to see it more and more now.

Commercial vehicles are more ripe for disruption than cars. Some of the switchgear in a Transit is at least 40 years old. Vans in Europe and Pickups in the US have been cash cows and always had cheap old underpinnings. The Chinese will disrupt yet more markets and the competition, other than Tesla, are doing next to nothing to compete.
Yeah, this should rock the boat a bit when it arrives. Some smart tech in here and I've no doubt they learned something from the platform they put under the Zeekr brand cars and they're brilliant.

Still trying to get a contact with them. Our M5 didn't have lidar when we reviewed that over a year ago. Quite fancy trying the M9 that's coming.

Aye, basically what I wanted for my current Sprinter campervan as I sold my Tesla Model S 90D due to a soon to be out of warranty battery. I think I'm still 5 years ahead of all these awesome vans arriving in Canada, or maybe 10 years if North America continues to block Chinese EVs 😅

Rental giants Hertz and Sixt have both DUMPED Teslas, citing cost of repairs being high enough that it significantly impacted earnings.
Well they haven't dumped them, they've reduced their fleet size of them. That's down to Tesla having high repair costs, though you'd think insurance would cover that, no?

I realise car manufacturers don't want to scare people, but I have been disappointed that the proper design revolution that EV's ought to be offering hasn't really materialised. Where are the Andre Citroëns or Alec Issigonises of the new technology?
This, at least is a sign that some people are beginning to think outside the box van.
You're not wrong. I remember a Cadillac concept around the time of the Cien, maybe 2002, that showcased what a skateboard chassis would enable, such as a view right to the front of the vehicle. Not seen anything do much like that yet, though the Canoo vans have got some of that.

It's a good question. They never look so bad on real TV but this footage does have that older vibe to it.
If you are going to charge your EV inside your garage, then install a smoke alarm over your car that is interconnected to the other smoke alarms in your house. That way, when the battery goes into thermal runaway whilst charging - and don't delude yourself that "that will never happen to me" - at least you will be woken up so you dont burn to death in your sleep. And despite what Musk says, it happens to LFP batteries, too.
Miniscule numbers, but still, precautions are always important.
Hope I never get a steering wheel by wire. All risk, no gain.
Gain is you can make less inputs for more turn angle. With the triple redundancy you should be fine.
Your braking and accelerator has been by-wire for decades already, you have no issues with that? Why should steer-by-wire be a problem?
@@swecreations Toyota alone has recalled 2.3 million vehicles for by-wire accelerator problems that resulted in some fatalities. Not sure why those people could not just pop the transmission out of gear. But at least there is a way out.
There is no way out if drive by wire steering fails.
There are no drive by wire braking systems in the U.S. except on some high end electric cars. If you know of any, please tell me what they are. Unfortunately, many new cars are using by wire parking brakes. See Scotty Kilmers comments on that one.
So my problem with by wire systems is my perception of a higher rate of failure.
We have cars in the U.S. that are 100 years old and still have the original mechanical steering with zero failures.
So, what is the advantage of drive by wire steering? Why would I leave proven technology ?
What's the battery, range and pricing figures
All that info isn't released yet. We'll see if it is when we do the drive, or failing that we may get a chance at a full-on review when they're officially put on sale which shouldn't be too far off.

The idea seems great. The implementation... Well: Internally it is great. No doubts such a white brand Mercedes-Benz on steroids... Externally... Whom the heck would wish to go on the streets with either way, such a funeral vehicle or one of those cell vehicles generally used by the police to transport the inmates???...

Meanwhile, recently in London, yet another electric bus burst into flames. Electric buses have been a disaster all over the world.
Shenzhen replaced their entire fleet of about 80,000 with electric buses and they seem to be doing just fine. How's Luton Airport car park by the way?

I see hundreds of electric buses in every city I travel to in China and have never once seen one on fire, but I have seen one or diesel buses burned out. I can trust my own eyes, I don't need a government to tell me anything. They literally have multi-storey electric bus parks.
