This doesn't bode well, how can I trust your review when we have no video evidence of your description of its handling and speed?
Footage isn't necessarily representative of how a car is driven. For my reviews, as a lone reviewer without a camera man, I prefer to drive the car first, get to know it as much as possible, and then I get time to film. Given we had all of 7 hours, half of which were lashing it down, in a place I've never been before, some shots are simply dictated by what you can get at the time.

@ponczak Don't think you necessarily need a manual gearbox to have fun. Why find the rev range when you're at peak torque 100% of the time. I love a manual too but it isn't the only way.
Cameras poking out from the mirrors, door button sticking out the sidewall - what is the impression of those design features when looking at it in real life? In the video, this looks alien.
You don't notice the cameras on the mirrors but you do notice the nodule with the buttons to open the scissor doors. Not a huge issue though, you're generally admiring the rest of the car.
It was truly frightening watching the thing blast along at 30 to 40 kph. Ok how hard was it to give us at least an impression of acceleration and speed on what looked like a closed off circuit. Bit boring really.
Well it wasn't a closed off circuit, it was a public road, filmed between instances of other vehicles going by. In fairness I could have stuck a camera on the car but we were pressed for time between rainstorms and needing to get back in time, and my responsibility is to get all the footage I need first before the fun stuff. Time, weather and unfamiliarity with the local area was against me this time.

Can you not do colour correction? One camera makes the car look orange, the other red… which is it…?
Forgive me for not being an expert car reviewer, video editor, producer, driver, and colour corrector all at the same. I'll take is as a compliment that you think the videos are at least professional enough to look like there's a team full of people working on it rather than just the guy in front of the camera. 🫱
Great looking car and love the name but you're driving it like a granny and yet describe it like a dynamic handling supermodel ?? 8:15 and 8:49 - come on!! give it some beans, you ain't driving it any faster than 20mph 9:37 :D This exactly what your saying, perfect example of Scuttle shake! 10:15 the centre console is rattling away on a shallow turn here at a very low speed.
Great review.
So MG have beaten Musk.
So has Neta with the GT but that's not as quick or convertible.
love everything except the wheels, which can easily be changed of course.
They have a different design for the 20-inchers that come with the dual motor so could maybe go for that option.
Some price 😢
Yeah. It's not confirmed and there may be cheaper versions, but a TF replacement this certainly is not.
Do you need a Police van ahead of you to bring this to a stop?
Only if you're a total idiot that refuses to admit you had your foot on the accelerator or cruise control the whole time.
@@InsideChinaAuto oh no. Was that what really happened? Media giving me half a story?
@mikeymikeFTypeV6 If it's in The Sun, the chances are all they're giving you is a story. The people who work there aren't journalists, they're clowns in cardigans with meaty cheques from oil companies in their giant clown shoes. The same people who blindly churned out the story about Priuses having 'unintended acceleration' which were proven false.

It's cool but too bad there isn't ICE option.
Nah, this will be much faster
@@InsideChinaAuto roadsters always has been about experience and fun, not speed
@@ponczak Who says this doesn't have both?
@@InsideChinaAuto the lack of ICE and manual gearbox.
@ponczak Don't think you necessarily need a manual gearbox to have fun. Why find the rev range when you're at peak torque 100% of the time. I love a manual too but it isn't the only way.
I was expecting another kind of topless😅
Haha, you don't want to see that.
Nice pic quality, the editing is as good as a BBC documentary complementing ur British accent, hahhaha.
Haha. Most people think I'm Australian for some reason.
A fine british woman with chinese parents
@albinvega7008I’m trying to be romantic here😭 of course I know that
Haha, nice way of putting it.
Words fail me....
In a good way or bad?
2:26...that boot lid does not look it lines up very well the the body
I think it might be the angle. It didn't look particularly out of place in real life.
Those doors ruin a very good car. They don't suit it at all. It would have been perfect with normal doors.
Scissor doors seem to be a bit of a growing trend over here now. Even some ordinary family cars have them.
Wow, what a looker! Has abit of Corvette vide to it though.
It is a real looker. Stunning in the metal.
are you watching Elon????
Wonder how long until their roadster comes out.
@@InsideChinaAuto We had the concept in 2017... so I guess any day now....
@@johnsmith-cw3wo Wow, was it really that long ago? I'm getting old.
@@InsideChinaAuto Everything before COVID-19 seem like last century.
yes, he is wondering why did they took the name cyber?!😂
It was truly frightening watching the thing blast along at 30 to 40 kph. Ok how hard was it to give us at least an impression of acceleration and speed on what looked like a closed off circuit. Bit boring really.
Well it wasn't a closed off circuit, it was a public road, filmed between instances of other vehicles going by. In fairness I could have stuck a camera on the car but we were pressed for time between rainstorms and needing to get back in time, and my responsibility is to get all the footage I need first before the fun stuff. Time, weather and unfamiliarity with the local area was against me this time.
@@InsideChinaAutoor the Chinese minders won't let do this and they won't let you that. Practically hand tie you if you step out of the prescribed line. It definitely was like that. To be fair I don't know about now. I have to admit electric cars don't spin my wheels. But this little roadster makes a good show what is to come. Cheers.
@jhndijkman Haha, there were no minders on this trip. Due to the weather they just sent us out for the full day to let us get what we could. Spent half the time under a bridge waiting for the worst of it to end so I could go get the driving shots. Great car though when you get the chance to push it. Never felt remotely at risk of losing grip.
Lol 60k. Who knew plastic cost that much?
There's barely any plastic in it. The only obvious plastic is that around the cup holders, everything else is leather or microfibre.
@@InsideChinaAuto the hinges of the compartments looked plastic and most of the rest of the interior. Im not sure 60k for a chinese made mg is viable. Their other ranges in the uk struggle to sell without big discounts and they're already cheap. Their are a lot of nice good convertibles for much less in the uk but if you're determined to move your exhaust emissions from where you drive to power stations with the roof down, your options are limited. This vid smells of ccp propaganda though
@jesuschrist2284 Of course hinges of compartments are plastic. Have you sat in a Mercedes recently? The whole thing is plastic. You want to say that's Chinese? MG was the 13th best-selling brand in the UK last year, they seem to be doing totally fine unless you live in Richmond and never leave your cul-de-sac.
@@InsideChinaAuto im just saying 60k is highly optimistic and they discount their ranges regularly
@jesuschrist2284 They might yet offer it for 50 at the base end, they haven't given any clear figures yet but this is a massive step up on their usual stuff.
Good luck, will be worth zero the warranty runs out...
Doubt it. Battery life warranty is longer than any ICE company is offering on their clunky machines, even KIA, so it'll be just fine.
I think this is a player against Audi TT, Boxter, Nissan Z, that level. MX-5 is still 50% cheaper than this.
Yeah, it's no longer an MX-5 rival, too big, much more powerful. Purely aimed at Boxster and Z4
A car. Not a mg.
Settle on a Chinese MG?
Beautiful car but that interior colour is just yuk
I quite like red in a car, it's a sporty look.
Should have included at least a few seconds on what the fake engine generation option sounds like
Ha, I'd rather not. Worst part of the car. Turn them off and burn them.
59 grand 🤣
Lot of dough, though it seems maybe the single motor will be about 50. Not confirmed yet.
Looks interesting, but no China-owned vehicles for me.
They don't need you either 😂😂
If you buy it, it'll be owned by wherever you come from. 😉
Who care about you? 😂
Too heavy, too slow for me
Yeah, 3.2 seconds 0-100 is a bit crap isn't it. I mean a Z4 can't do it, a Cayman or Boxster can't do it, an SLK can't do it, but yeah it's too slow.
Steve you are slow in the cranium
MG was British. Not now. why do these so called journalists keep banging on like it is. It is Chinese. I would not not pay 50K for a Chinese car ever.
I think you'll find I said "a reminder of where MG came from". You've got two ears and one mouth, use them in that order. 😉

Do you work directly for the PLA, or do you work for a private contractor? Are you even human? This is fascinating!
@oramijohn Haha. The only fascinating thing is that despite the Internet making it easier than ever to find information, some people still have the mental powers of somebody who lived their entire life in a cupboard. I don't envy you mate. There's sun outside, go enjoy it. You might learn something.
Not to my taste. It looks like a life-long nerd who’s suddenly decided, after a mid life crisis, to dress all cool but doesn’t know how and keeps making fashion mistakes.
Those doors don’t suit the body, they look OTT and out of sequence with the rest of the car and the front lip reminds me of an Inostrancevia. The back end is a mess - huge arrows framed by an angular strip light which doesn’t match the rest of the design language. It’s incoherent.
I’m getting visions of a aviator sun shades-donning, aging playboy, who’s wearing a pony tail to compensate for his bald patch.
I get your point, it is trying very hard for attention. I don't mind the doors so much, but I think a more curved running light at the back would definitely have been a better look.
