It's a cool car. I think Geely want a slice of a fairly premium market so are going after that with the Galaxy range. They also need more use from the SEA platform.
Geely and their brands seems to be moving from strength to strength, Volvo, Smart, Polestar and Zeekr products seem to be unanimously very well received even by the more critical EU and US press, the new Lotus products seem to be objectively very good (despite not being a 'true' Lotus) and their China-specific models are similarly as good. I do like many of the Chinese EVs but I do not like the common fastback look of nearly all of them, probably due to aerodynamics. However, I saw the YangWang U7 which stands out among all these EVs.
Fastback seems to be the style of EV saloons, started by Tesla with the S. I don't mind it if done right. As for the U7, not sure myself. Looks a bit pointy at the front.
Hi Mark . That's some car isn't it ?,Love the Amazing Display,Wow 😮 I don't think it is going to be long before they start catching up to Tesla in Software, What do you think ?

As for FSD-like tech, I honestly think some brands are there already. Will have to test the Geely satellite-connected stuff when I get a chance.
Polestar is a Volvo offshoot. Polestar is more Volvo than Geely in that they started out as a Swedish racing company that later tuned Volvos and then were spun off. Most of Polestar's personnel come from Volvo. Both are in the Geely Holding Group.
Likely it wouldn't keep that price (taxes, eh?) but the Galaxy name would be interesting since it's not a model name but a kind of brand name. Not sure how that would play out.
The world we live in. I do not want to break my back playing a game, I want it to drive itself to the charging station while I am doing real world things.
that interior... I can't believe it's a geely. chinese cars have come a long, long way. ok, just made it to the end of the video and the pricing is just unbelievable. I thought it was easily a $50k USD car.
@ChinaAuto couldn't find any sources online confirming your claim, and you don't show it. So again. I don't believe it before I see it. Saw that "5C" battery from CATL. It peaks at more than 700A, when the CCS standard only allows 500A for a short period of time. This means at around 750V (what seems to be max voltage of this battery) it would peak at 375kW and "only" 3,6C. Still very impressive, but far for 5C. After a few minutes the amperage would drop to 400A which means 300kW, still very good. But far from the actual claims.
The Asphalt games is a great idea, but do you know what would be more amazing?, if you could use the actual steering wheel and foot pedals to drive the car in the game, the Tesla Model S and X can do that type of gameplay!, 😊
Battery tech, which China has a stranglehold on, ATM due to control of necessary ingredients being more plentiful there, and electric motors, have indeed Democratized BEVs.
it's crazy how there's laws in place against using your phone while driving but EVs with those Big screens actually not only allow you to mess with the screen while driving but it's also necessary to actually drive and use the car features hell in the new tesla you need to use the screen to shift gears it's just insane now you passengers can play games while you are driving and this won't affect the driver at all not to mention these cars have No physical buttons and you really need to mess with the stupid screen just to start or stop the AC or fix the mirrors for everything really and when this screen that all car functions are tight to breaks your car is totally useless and the repair will cost you well alot seen how EVs are made like smartphones Intentionally NOT to be Repairable and even minor repairs costs tens of thousands of $ sometimes even more then the car itself but as a Bonus when you buy EV the company can deactivate features in their car whenever they want yes their car cause you don't own it not really
Not quite sure all of that is true. Would be curious on the warranty of the screen though. As you said, it's a big piece of hardware when it decides to go bust. The push nowadays though is more towards speaking to the car so you don't have to touch anything and if my Chinese were considerably better I could use all the functions rather than just some. You're right though about being able to see the passenger side screen. I was sure there was a rule to block it from the driver's view as some brands do make it not visible, but others don't. Sure in Europe that will have to be different.
I wouldn't pay double, an aberration in terms of price once in Europe! The European Union wants to make the transition to electric and I totally agree, but it wants to do it on its own terms, thus protecting other manufacturers imposing outrageous taxes and prices! They sell us all the European electrical junk at huge prices!!!!Protecting the climate.....Dear everything down to the money!
This pale yellow seems to have become a bit of a thing in China recently, also making its way onto the NIO ET5. I prefer full saturation though, like on the Zeekr 007. If you're going to be bold, go the whole way.
Wonder why they left Porsche. I believe Li Auto's chief designer is ex-Porsche too. He said he didn't want to design cars for old white men anymore.@user-rd9mb3js5q
Meanwhile... Volvo still puts a 9" center display in their 2024 (X)C40's Recharge and a 12.3" display in the upcoming EX30. I really wish they were a little bit less conservative and went all in on software features. Really want to keep supporting our economy by buying/leasing cars that are built in Europe, but these Chinese cars will be lightyears ahead in no time if they keep this up. Terrible color though 🙃.
Volvo needs to up those screens sharpish. The ones in the C40 and XC40 do not cut it in 2024. Urgent refresh needed. 12 is OK, doesn't need to be over the top. Not sure I'd go portrait though.
@@InsideChinaAuto yeah portrait is great for navigation but that's about it. If I watch RUclips on it, I might as well watch on my phone as it's pretty much the same size. Not quite Xi'an but same province. Was such a stunning day for filming.
Neely are brilliant. best out there.Polestar is basically Geely. also great.
They're doing great things across the portfolio.
Polestar is a Volvo offshoot. Polestar is more Volvo than Geely in that they started out as a Swedish racing company that later tuned Volvos and then were spun off. Most of Polestar's personnel come from Volvo. Both are in the Geely Holding Group.
Would it really end up in Europe, the UK even, at £20k odd?😮
Actually, if it came to the UK, does Ford have any claim to the name "Galaxy"?
Likely it wouldn't keep that price (taxes, eh?) but the Galaxy name would be interesting since it's not a model name but a kind of brand name. Not sure how that would play out.
samsung will file a lawsuit
@petervan7372 Don't think they own the right to the Galaxy name on cars somehow.

The world we live in. I do not want to break my back playing a game, I want it to drive itself to the charging station while I am doing real world things.
Might have to pay a bit more for that. Or buy a Jiyue, then you get both.
super editing
Glad you liked it.
Beautiful car! Teslas look like rolling dolphins and are so frumpy.
It's pretty good this one. Not the most pretty but it has its angles.
The funny thing is that you are using 2 fingera to play Asphalt 9 while you have a real life simulator - leather seat, pedals and steering wheel 😅 !!
I know, but sadly they can't be used for it. I was disappointed.
Galaxy E8 support 2 usb gamepad.
@@limwiching2277 I wish I'd known that!
Bring it to Canada pls
You want it by boat or plane? I'll check prices.
🔥🔥🔥
Well exactly.
that interior... I can't believe it's a geely. chinese cars have come a long, long way. ok, just made it to the end of the video and the pricing is just unbelievable. I thought it was easily a $50k USD car.
Incredible right? No wonder western brands are worried.
360kW of peak charging speed? That's almost 5c. I don't believe that for a second!
You don't have to, it's real. And the Li MEGA does it full 5C, which you'll see very soon.
When Chinese cars come here to USA, without tariffs, I will buy a BEV, such as MG4 Performance.
The Asphalt games is a great idea, but do you know what would be more amazing?, if you could use the actual steering wheel and foot pedals to drive the car in the game, the Tesla Model S and X can do that type of gameplay!, 😊
Yeah, I'd have preferred that. You can use a game controller apparently but the steering wheel would be better, but then so would Gran Turismo 7.
Better than galaxy s24.
Probably.
legendary
Quite the compliment.
Why can't the driver just use the actual steering wheel to play the game? It will be easier and better.
Apparently you can use a game controller but I didn't know that beforehand.
I prefer the Zeekr 07 over this Galaxy E8
007 is more attractive I think, but I believe a bit smaller.
Geely will eat Xiaomi for breakfast ❤
Tough call that, the SU7 looks stunning and should have great tech. We'll see if we ever get to try it out.
@@InsideChinaAuto yeah I suspect it will be more than 20wan rmb
Battery tech, which China has a stranglehold on, ATM due to control of necessary ingredients being more plentiful there, and electric motors, have indeed Democratized BEVs.
That's how competition works, something sorely lacking in the States. Forethought is a worthy enterprise.
They missed the mark on the racing game. You should be able to use the steering wheel. A little torque one direction or the other can steer the car.
Agreed. At least you can use a game controller though, which I didn't know when I reviewed it.
it's crazy how there's laws in place against using your phone while driving but EVs with those Big screens actually not only allow you to mess with the screen while driving but it's also necessary to actually drive and use the car features hell in the new tesla you need to use the screen to shift gears it's just insane now you passengers can play games while you are driving and this won't affect the driver at all not to mention these cars have No physical buttons and you really need to mess with the stupid screen just to start or stop the AC or fix the mirrors for everything really and when this screen that all car functions are tight to breaks your car is totally useless and the repair will cost you well alot seen how EVs are made like smartphones Intentionally NOT to be Repairable and even minor repairs costs tens of thousands of $ sometimes even more then the car itself but as a Bonus when you buy EV the company can deactivate features in their car whenever they want yes their car cause you don't own it not really
With taxes it will probably cost double the price in UK.
Probably. Would still be worth it at that price.
Thats it, while you are charging the car why not play some video games or watch some movie so you don't hang around being bored.
Why not, eh? Great way to spend the time if you have nothing else to do.
Is that the prosthetic leg color? 😂 😅
It is. Seems to be a popular colour these days in China for new cars. Not sure I like the reduced saturation, give me full ASBO yellow.
@@InsideChinaAuto 😂😆
Forget the Europeans in China, this would kill NIOs and Xpengs!
Certainly won't help, especially the expensive brands.
as a chinese, i just dont understand why chinese people so crazy about big screen and numbers of screen installed in a car.
As a non- Chinese I understand wilfully ❤😂
Haha, it has become a bit mad. Some are over the top. This I quite like honestly. It looks really clean.
Needs a controller for videogames.
Needs to let you use the steering wheel and pedals already in the car.
Galaxy E8 support usb gamepad
I wouldn't pay double, an aberration in terms of price once in Europe! The European Union wants to make the transition to electric and I totally agree, but it wants to do it on its own terms, thus protecting other manufacturers imposing outrageous taxes and prices! They sell us all the European electrical junk at huge prices!!!!Protecting the climate.....Dear everything down to the money!
While they get 100,000 Euros a year to sit around telling you what you can't have.
Is there a possibility to change the language of the car to english?? - I found different answers 😳😳
I couldn't change the system to English from memory but I could change the video game to English.
for daily uses the main system would be more important than the games.. :D

Tesla to me, an American, looks like the KMART Blue-Light special inside, and lacks switch-gear to pinch pennies. NO THANKS ELON.
Many feel the same. They do a lot very well, but they're fighting to keep up in other areas now.
Taillights are pretty much ripped off from Porsche. Interesting color choice doesn't quite work.
Sorry Genesis, but Geely did much better interior than you hahah!
Genesis do some really nice seats though and that rotatey crystal ball thing is quite cool.
BYD has the best of both worlds with the rotating screen but I'd prefer this more integrated look. Also, my daughter would love the 'separate' passenger screen 🙂.
i know that driving it in winter its shitty and you better take blankets with you because of low range and shiity long time of recharging
360kW peak.. Not sure if you actually watched the video
not sure you know that all EVs are shitty at winter especially chines ones!! go and tell that to those in Chicago which Tesla lose range and needs hours to recharge @@GTI_CHHA
Can only say it was -5 and we had the 150kW charging version, and the charging was no problem. 44 minutes to go from about 32km to about 550km of range. Not sure about range itself as there was no odometer to be seen.

You could have fitted that child car seat faster if the backrest was facing forward man.
It is not an easy child sit to fit. There's a big plastic part right where you need to grab a strap that sits up against the backrest. Nightmare.
hook up the car's driving system to the race game and play with other drivers driving the same model
That's exactly what they should have done.
