Ok so long story short, most 3080 and 3090 can’t run games at 4k 120. So normally the ps5 will use a dynamic resolution to get the 120hz. Some games like borderlands 3 is Only at 1080. But others like fortnite are close to 1800. 4k is 2160 btw. So basically the ps5 just isn’t strong enough to run 4k 120 as basically it needs a $3000 PC. Eventually maybe a few games will run at 4k 120. But even then we aren’t at a native 4k. We use a checkerboard system that is almost identical to native but requires less gpu power to do so.

When I go to play a compatible 4K/120 hz game (Cold War) the monitor goes black for a couple seconds and the resolution automatically goes down to 1920x1080 120 hz. Shouldn’t I be getting 3840x2160 120hz for compatible games? I’ve tried EVERYTHING to my knowledge at least. (Performance mode, using the HDMI cable that came with the ps5 etc) I’m all out of ideas and I’m super bummed out. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it immensely. Thanks

Mine runs at 120hz but it doesn't go up to 4k why? my monitor supports it as well. I only get up to 1080 at 120 hz on my ps5 and I have 2.1 hdmi on my monitor
Hi did you fix this? i am having same issue
@@SlapNoCap plug the HDMI into port 1 instead of port 2 and you’ll get the 4k 120hz that’s how I fixed it
Although I dont own a PS5, I find this very intresting and its probably the first video I saw reviewing this issue in detail.Keep it up👍.
Thanks Stubil!

Sorry I'm abit late to the party but thanks for the very informative vid appreciated 👍
Will a samsung 4k tv give me 120hz
my stuff says 4k 60hz what that means?
Thatz what im tryna find out
Your tv or monitor might only support 4k @ 60, or your PS5 is still running in Resolution mode and not Performance
@@mjfrmtrenchez7716 so my ps5 was on performance it's just the TV that needs 4k 120hz it only hits 60hz rn I might just upgrade to a monitor.

You can play at 1080p@120fps and not 4k@120fps
I can play 60FPS and 4K right?
@@Aydawntnouw depending on the game which u play. Google for it
@@amx42 Alright Thanks :)
Why
Why when I start up a game that supports 120 hrz 4K, it automatically drops the resulution to 1080 120hrz even though I have a hdmi 2,1 4K tv? If you can help me it’ll be great
Ok so long story short, most 3080 and 3090 can’t run games at 4k 120.

Please help. I bought this new acer nitro xv282k to be able to play supported ps5 games at 4K/120hz and I just got the monitor in today and when I turn on the ps5 it’s stock resolution is 3840x2160 60hz. Thanks
No the resolution has to be 1080p so you can get the higher framerate, not xbox sx or ps5 can run any graphicaly demanding title at 4k 120 fps.
Just google the stuff. Some games run at 1080, others at 1440
Your monitor has to be hdmi 2.1 , it won’t support 4k @120 if it’s just regular hdmi 2.0
My monitor runs 120 hz but it doesnt activate it idk why?
I've seen this done for COLD WAR but i keep hearing it doesn't let you run 120Hz for Warzone. Have you got it to work?
MW and Warzone runs on the old PS4 software code, until infinity ward makes a new update we can only get 60 FPS on the PS5
@@spenddollarzent thank you
Spend Dollarz ENT so Cold War runs 120 FPS and not warzone and modern warfare?? Because for some reason I heard they update and everytime I go to Cold War it runs 120 FPS but once I go to warzone or modern warfare it goes back to 60 FPS
@@ayubabdille6383 xbox series x has 4k 120fps on warzone not ps5
It’s only 60hz but for the new Xbox is available to play 120hz

Is it possible with monitor 4K who nay support hdmi 2.0
@Ssp ssp thank you
Thats if the game brings the option to change to 120hz. This does not apply to every PS5 game.
IV=4 III=3 VII=7 and toda X=10 so XIV=14
Do I need a monitor that supports HDMI 2.1 to get 4K and 60FPS or 1080P and 120FPS or it’s okay if I use a 144Hz or 120Hz monitor?
I have the same issue I have 2.0hdmi port. I think you may need a 2.1 port
Yes a monitor with dp 1.4 or a tv with hdmi 2.1 and a powerful pc
So ps5 supports 120hz/fps at 4k? I thought its worked only in 1080p, nice haha but VRR still not enable right?
VRR is always enabled with hdmi 2.1
they just upscale the image, you can notice that's not 4k.
